Another kind of cruise type is the "pushy" cruiser. This person pushes to be in front of every line, pushes in at the buffet without asking, pushes you out of the way to get a table or a lounge chair at the pool and pushes their way to the front of the bar.
Me and my wife love cruising. My wife considers cruising the best vacation because she doesn't have to do anything but relax. So we are on major chill and enjoy our peace and quiet. The only complaint we ever had was the smaller Carnival ships where it seemed like a college drunken kegger.
I've cruised with a Chronic Complainer, before. It was awful! He complained about everything everywhere, even when we first got into our balcony cabin, he made the room steward put in a new refrigerator, said it wasn't cool enough to keep his insulin cold. It was, it's not like the fridge at home, my water and soda was cold. I felt bad for the room steward and secretly left him an extra tip. cause he doesn't even believe in paying gratuities. I don't cruise with that person anymore.
Let me add this: Your Bluetooth speaker is great for you to enjoy your favorite music. But it's really self centered/rude to blast it on your balcony. People next door might have small kids trying to sleep, or (shocker) they might be wanting to just chill out without your soundtrack. If they retaliate by blasting polka or something incredibly dorky, it's on you.
There are 2 others that I would add to your list. The person who picks up and puts back food with their bare fingers while searching for the perfect one. Being a retired nurse, I call that person: Typhoid Mary. The other is Mr. Elevator Hog. He has to enter the elevator before you can even get out of the elevator, or he stands at the front of the elevator refusing to move so you can get around him. Or worse, he keeps backing up even though you’ve told him to stop, as he’s about to stomp on your toes in sandals.
I love the channel. We have been sailing out of New Orleans. We always get a balcony suite. We have had to put up with people smoking on the balcony. We saw one woman taking selfies in a bikini while sitting on the railing! Others were slamming doors, and yet others were arguing very loudly. I love the peace and quiet of a balcony, but disruptive people have no respect for others.
YES for the folks for who sit at tables and playing games during "prime" time meal times. That was HUGE on our cruise last month. Their excuse "Well there's no where else to play" My response, "Well there's no where to EAT in the EATING area." And these were OLDER people and I'm 58.
Except for the oblivious parents, we've run across every one of those people. One other type is the person who arrives in the middle of a show and finds his seat down in front rather than sitting in the back of the theater
We've had balcony neighbors with loud voices and one who kept the lights on over night, but the only balcony neighbor that ruins our enjoyment is the one who SMOKES on the balcony. We had one who let his butt land on our deck.
Nailed it! Great video Jamie. Disruptive balcony blunder.... balcony speakers! or even the speaker poolside out on the deck. Thank you and will be sharing.
Great video thanks! ☺️Agree with all your points and particularly loved your advice you give your son. I think if everyone lived by that rule the world would be a better place. 💞 My husband and I always go on a cruise with a positive attitude, knowing that some things will likely go wrong, and determined not to let them ruin our vacation. We find this enables us to always have a wonderful time no matter what. Even seeing the funny side of a “so called mishap” can be a benefit at times. 🤣
We had teens behind us screaming at the top of their lungs during the show. Just random screeches. This went on for 12 minutes. People told the crew but they didnt do anything. I finally turned around and asked them to please stop. They didnt, so my daughter (14) turned around and said, "If you scream again, Im kicking your butt when I see you at the teen club, at putt putt, at the water slide or the pool. I dare you to go tell your parents and staff what I said, we have you on video. I will give you a souvenir you will never forget". Then she holds up her phone. Those kids left and I didnt see them the rest of the cruise (4 days). I dont condone violence but I was proud of her. We cant stand when people have loud s3x on the balcony. It horrifies our daughter when we are out trying to enjoy fresh air.
My husband is a chronic complainer, ruined my last cruise with him (in 2010) & I never cruised with him again! I had a cruise booked, just a regular balcony for just me. I was going alone as always because he didn't like cruising. He said he would like to go & convinced me to upgrade to an owners suite on Liberty of the Seas. He complained about the Diamond lounge, internet service, the concierge host in the lounge, food at Chops, food at the Specialty Italian, room service food. He put me in such a mood I didn't even get off the ship in Cozumel ( my favorite port). because he criticized my outfit. of course the Embarkation day nightmare & disembarking day was no smooth experience either. Did he like anything? I don't think so. I never cruised with him again. Leave the complainers home!
Just thought of another one to add to your balcony etiquette: Don't leave your balcony light on all night, ESPECIALLY on an Alaskan cruise. We were in an aft balcony on my last Alaskan and were lucky enough to catch the northern lights on two nights. The way the ship was positioned, the aft was the best place to view. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the public decks aft were closed off at night (was during covid, so who knows?) but our balcony should have been PRIME viewing. Except our neighbor insisted on having their balcony light on ALL STINKIN NIGHT for the whole cruise. We asked our steward to see if maybe they could just turn it off because they didn't realize it was on. He did, but they turned it right back on that evening. Left a polite note on their door. Nope. That light just had to be on. So frustrating.
Yes! Have encountered mostly the adult type and usually because they maxed out their drink package! Coming in second are the kids that are left to fiend for themselves without dicipline. I guess the parents assume other passengers will watch them. Wrong!
Chronic complainers are not just on cruises. They tend to rile people up then do nothing. I remember when our kids were little and enrolled in dance school there was a parent who complained about everything from recital fees to the music played in class. She talked about other schools so much that I started looking into maybe enrolling our kids elsewhere. Of course, this parent was the first person to sign her kids up for the next year …
The worst of all of this is the drama over some shrimp placed on the wrong plate. Move the shrimp and enjoy your cruise. That is too much drama for this mama.
The people I've seen on cruises that I hope to never see again: * The Bring-Too-Much-Stuff-Onboard-During-Embarkation cruisers * The Try-To-Self-Disembark-With-Too-Much-Stuff cruisers * The I've-Gotta-Get-Off-This-Ship-Early-So-I'll-Block-The-Way-Out cruisers * The I-Need-To-Talk-To-My-Friends-After-The-Show-So-I'll-Block-The-Aisles-And-Stairs cruisers
what is consensus on strangers sitting down next to you in buffet? We understand seating in buffet often sparse, and we always look for tables with only two chairs [we're a couple] but often, the only open tables are perhaps 4 or even 6 chairs. We're very private at meal time...and then some stranger[s] comes and sits down beside you [probably due to not finding any other tables open]. We have mixed feelings on this...but do not understand proper etiquette on this. We don't like it though we of course try and remain sociable. We understand how tables can be scarce at times. We'd never do this [we'd just leave before imposing on other's privacy]...or just keeping searching until we find something open], but perhaps some from other culture's might find this practice ok. We'd just as soon skip the buffet [our privacy that important] if it's that crowded people can't have their own privacy. But we do get hungry over a 7 day cruise too [sic[. But, hey...it's a cruise ship and hoards do happen. Thoughts?
We prefer to dine by ourselves, unless we are traveling with friends, but the buffet is different because we usually eat quickly and then move on, so if the place is packed, you have to do what you have to do. If 1 or 2 people are at a table that will hold 6 people or more, we might sit at the other end of the table after a polite "do you mind if we sit here". I don't think there is right or wrong etiquette for this. Thanks for watching @GrandmaandMrRon!!!
Along with sing outl loud during the show is the talk out loud about your day during the show. We had a cruise where this one lady talked almost the whole show out loud about her day and what they were doing later.
Have encountered them all. But u missed one I encountered on my last cruise. The opinionated drunk guy who felt it his place to butt in and tell you their opinion of you. I wish I would has stood up for my self but was so mortified he did it in front of a bunch of friends , I never said anything. So I just choose to stay away from him.
The ones that get me are typical Carnival fanatics that heaven forbid you make you complaint known online and have to make sure you know that you should feel blessed to cruise and not complain. If I am gifted a cruise or it's free I'm not complaining. I will make my feelings known to others if I'm paying. Just because you don't mind certain things doesn't mean the entire world should be ok with it
This. If we were talking about an essential to living, or something given for free, that would be one thing, but when you pay good money and don't receive the promised goods/service in return, it's entirely valid to ask for that to be corrected or be unhappy and voice that. This "here's my 3k for this cruise..it might be crappy but aren't I just so blessed to even step foot on the ship I'll just take what I get" mentality drives me nuts. I would never in a million years be rude to a staff member, but if you bring me a well done steak I am going to politely send it back and ask the medium rare I ordered. John Heald promotes that mentality and I've stopped following him. I am so entirely over his poor me posts, most of which are either made up or super embellished (not hard to figure out with the wording) and his encouragement of little things going away not really being that big a deal. Annoying as hell, and pretty unprofessional if you ask me. Totally geared to get the cheerleaders riled up and steer the thinking in a certain direction.
With the parent issue, one further suggestion in the vein of your other issues, don't loudly berate or discipline your children in public. One thing I can't stand even more than a loud or disruptive child is watching a parent try to control the child by sheer dint of voice. Kids are going to be kids and yes that means they will not always be well behaved. If you need to discipline your child do it quietly, or better yet, in the privacy of your cabin.
It's really too bad that the lady who didn't appreciate your singing and enthusiasm didn't say something to you afer the first song. It would have lessened her aggravation. And maybe just maybe you would have stopped singing.😊 😊
I think I might be guilty of the singing with the entertainers. I will keep this in mind and only hum along quietly instead. Thanks for sharing!!

Cabin door slammers too! They don’t quietly close the door.

Good video! The loud complainers are annoying, we travel with our kids and they behave, we won’t tolerate our kids acting up.
Great Video, we love your channel.
We call those “balcony bitches” 😂
We will have to remember that term!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Great points made. Last cruise we did, we had the noisy neighbor. It was the balcony and when in the room. It can be irritating to say the least.
Well done!!
Thanks Gary!!!
Spot on! Nice summary.
Glad you enjoyed it, Sonnyc4105!!!
Also at night it's so pleasant sitting outside gazing at the stars and the people next door keep their outside light on for hours and never shut up 😢
Right!!!!

Yup - Pretty sure I'm guilty of singing along with the true talent! I need to stick a sock in it next cruise :(
I'm just going to stick a martini olive in it!!! Thanks VonnieB!!!!

I am always amazed by how many parents do not pay attention to what their kids are doing
Ten cruises, only one balcony. Spent the entire week hearing slamming doors from other balconies.
I agree with you.
Thanks Connie!!!
All good tips!

On our last cruise, we were treated to a multigeneration family having a big fight on their connecting balconies.
Oh no..that sounds horrible!!!
We had teens behind us screaming at the top of their lungs during the show. Just random screeches. This went on for 12 minutes. People told the crew but they didnt do anything. We haven’t counted the card players on our last cruise. And pretty much every cruise parents let their kids run wild!
I should really double check before I send this message or any other message. Lol. We have encountered the card players.
Thankfully, I was able to avoid these people on my last two cruises
The water stops when I start singing.
Hello from Monica

😂 thanks for busting yourself with the singing out loud offense
i had someone bring a portable speaker to listen to their music in the buffet.
Wait..that's not allowed?? lol
The people I've seen on cruises that I hope to never see again:
* The Bring-Too-Much-Stuff-Onboard-During-Embarkation cruisers
* The Try-To-Self-Disembark-With-Too-Much-Stuff cruisers
* The I've-Gotta-Get-Off-This-Ship-Early-So-I'll-Block-The-Way-Out cruisers
* The I-Need-To-Talk-To-My-Friends-After-The-Show-So-I'll-Block-The-Aisles-And-Stairs cruisers
Great ideas for the sequel video!!! lol
So true video. Not just sing but talking durning the shows so rude.
Book & newspaper readers at buffet tables.😮
We love playing games in buffet dining, oh wait, never mind. The Lido deck, I mean we love to play cards on lido deck.
LOL..Thanks for watching!!!

Am i not allowed to sing along at a concert or during the national anthem?
What he is talking about is neither a concert or a national anthem. It would be like singing along at the opera or other theater performances.
I disagree about the singing. You should be allowed to sing at anytime!
Umm, not when it disrupts the show for others. I see too many do this including youtube vloggers.
