This is the best intro to red wines I have found on RUclips. Short, full of interesting information and great for beginners. Production value is very well done also. Keep up the good work man, I hope you come out with more videos with information on wines. Thanks!
Marc, I realize this is late but the recent new year of course brought champagne into focus of everyone's lives again. I also know nothing about champagne(s) and would find that incredibly interesting as well. I'm sure you'd get a lot of views annually whenever new years approaches. Just a thought. Thanks for your education and great information. Appreciate it.
Not a bad suggestion. I do have a few top-line vids about Sparkling wine and Champagne, but not anything focused on Champagne alone. Guess I'll have to make one? Here's one that goes a little deeper: bit.ly/2vSALZw
My wife and i and brother-in-law/wife went to Loire a few years back. we really enjoyed. I was then still working at a wine shop and my boss helped set up a contact with Cynthia Hurley (importers). We had a great visit with Couly Duteil as well as some other great experiences.
Simply love your videos. As a sales associate at a big wine store, I've gained a lot of knowledge from your videos. Thanks for the added education. Please keep going. You're very good at this.
Thank you kindly! I've been wanting to learn all about reds forever. Just found this...Meritage uses same grapes as those in Bordeaux. just my note. # cheesygrin
Great explanation, love the description of flavours according to weather, pairing with food and at last, the price info.. People should subscribe ur channel bro.. kudos..
Hi Kent. I actually do a lot of work in VA, in the Waynesboro/Staunton area. I'm pretty familiar with the wineries there and have never tried Cross Keys. I'll have to check it out!
Cross Keys is only a few miles outside of Harrisonburg. I’ve been drinking their 2011 Chardonnay for the past couple days. They seem to be using all French varietals.
Will do! Also, be sure to look in this same, "Best Red Wines For Beginners" Playlist, there is an older video on Malbec too, that may be of interest. Thanks for the suggestions and thanks for watching, Charles!
Thanks brother for your knowledge you always fade us...kindly can you explain to me wines vs food match ...two days back i was really challenged in an interview i would like to learn more
Thank you for watching! Too much information to share here, but I have a video that shows you some tips for matching food and wine. You can find that in the quick sips section of this channel. Cheers!
@@wine-living I need to check out some of your suggestions on eastern seaboard...like Virginia and ? PA and we've talked about going to Long Island. Thanks again for your vids!
This week, we're learning about Cabernet franc. Chinon is one of my favorite regions, what about you? Old world, or new? Blended, or single variety? Share below.
Look also for Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil which are also cabernet franc -based Red (quite similar to Chinon) absolutely perfect for beginners. Certainly part or the best price vs quality compromises in France: here we get excellent bottles for 10-15€ so I guess 20-25$ at export :)
Trevor, I will have to look up the brand when i can. I found a few variations of it on Spreadshirt - www.spreadshirt.com/shop/design/funny+red+wine+drink+man+t+shirt+shirt+design+mens+v-neck+t-shirt-D5bd3ec0e1cbf3a0b018cb7f6?sellable=yrEj8qrXvvu1YpRn8n0b-686-12&view=D1
I like smoother wines, I tried Gentleman's collection # 2 Red Blend (syrah, cabernet sauvignon and Grenache) smooth blend, But I want something sweeter, Can you suggest any sweet red wine? please!
Yes, Apothic actually makes a sweet red blend, and Cupcake has one called Velvet Red. If you have access to wine from the Finger Lakes NY, look for Fox Run Winery's Fox Trot Red. And lastly, try an Italian Brachetto, a sweet sparkling wine. Hope this helps!
I didn't know there was such a thing as a sweet red wine. I saw Cupcake but didn't want to try because I knew absolutely nothing about it. I will be picking up a bottle this weekend. Thanks.
Lakeside Table for a great example of Cab Franc try the French Chinon I mentioned! Also, east coast USA (Virginia) if you can find one. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Just had some last night! I was working at a holiday gathering and we opened up a 1997. It was amazing. Although keep in mind Sassicaia is mostly Cab Sauv and only part Cab Franc. Thanks for watching!

Very interesting! I was thinking that I never tried Cabernet Franc until you said Meritage! Cooper's Hawk Lux Meritage is very good!!!
Thanks for letting me know and I hope you get a chance to check out some straight-up Cab Franc too. It's a great wine!
Cross Keys Vineyards in Virginia has been growing Cab Franc among other varietals

Is there going to be a lineup of Italian red wines? Specifically Amarone and Barolo.
Roger, thanks for the suggestion! I can definitely do a series on Italians! Amarone and Barolo are two of my faves.
Marc you always bring it. Just a heads up to and for my friends in Finger Lakes (New York).. as they grow/produce some nice Cabernet Franc.
Thank you Tony! Agreed FLX makes some great wines. It's the first region I ever visited as a wine lover, and also, where I proposed to my wife!

Are these wines sweet I'm looking for sweet red wines
Very informative
Thanks Rizza!
Hey sir may i ask you what is the wine that taste more like fruits not that dry alcoholic taste
Hi! Try Grenache/Garnacha from Spain, or maybe Pinot noir. They tend to be more fruity and lower in tannins.
