One souvenir a lot of you might not have thought of: Our room cleaner would leave a towel animal almost every day. One day she made a bird out of a wash rag. I ask her how much to take it home, and she gave it to me. Best Souvenir of the Trip! Even had it cost just a bit I still would have bought it.

I'm a bourbon drinker, recently on Harmony they had plenty of Blanton's. I bought a case. To put it in perspective. My local liquor store might get 1 or two bottles every other month. The staff on the ship said they received 600 bottles. It was funny to watch all the Bourbon drinkers walk by and then stop and turn around to take a picture of all the Bourbon. A cruise ship is a great place for liquor and other things too.

My dads shot glass and ashtray collections were important to him but they ended up getting thrown away as there was no value to them and none of the kids wanted them. We felt bad but really had no desire to have them. Every time I think of buying a souvenir like a ship model, thimble, magnet, etc I think about what will happen to them. I guess it just sucks to get old, do what makes you happy.

Before buying alcohol onboard (or in a port), have an idea of prices in your local area BEFORE you go. In the past, we never really knew if prices were competitive or not, so this time I had checked on prices of some items we might be willing to buy onboard. I found that most prices weren't as good as I could get at home, but a couple of items WERE much cheaper, so we took advantage of that.

I collect magnets from the ports as well as one of the ship. Very inexpensive and easy to transport home. I have bought jewelry on a cruise ship. At the glass blowing exhibition, I made a Christmas ornament. It is displayed on a beautiful ornament stand all year long. Great memory of that cruise. I also collect dolls. I am very particular in what I want. If I see one that is NOT mass produced, usually handmade on an island, I will buy it. My husband helps me choose them. We want one that represents the culture of the island. My favorite is one from Martinique. The doll's dress and headdress are made from banana leaves! I have some hand embroidered ones. I have a Precious Moment Eskimo doll that I bought in Alaska. I was lucky enough to meet the designer. She signed it on the bottom of one of the shoes. Very special. Ships used to sell a drink of the day when you first board the ship. It was in a logo glass. We have several of those as well. Don't know if they do that anymore.

I like magnets, lots on our fridge keeping our grandchildren's artwork up. And definitely mugs. I bet our preteen grandsons would be interested in beach towels. Toddler granddaughter loves stuffie toys. Whatever we decide on, it will be fun getting it home. One grandson loves his playing cards after his great-grandmother taught him solitaire, and last summer's cruise on the Canadian Empress, we brought him a deck from there, and his older brother a pair of gloves with port and starboard embroidered on the appropriate glove. Their dad is a shotglass fan.

for the transitioning cruise we did that was 22 days, I actually got from either Personalization mall or miles kimball a cruise ship with the year put on for both us and my parents who joined us on the cruise. We also get shot glasses on vacation and try to get them in ports when on a cruise. We also have one of those cases but no glass. I like that case better! We have tumblers from Carnival during our Caribbean trips. We haven't cruised since 2017 when we did a christmas eve to new years even out of Nawlins. It was paid for us by a relative to get ~15 of the relatives together. He had stock in I think it was Carnival so he got a great deal. We just had to pay for a balcony upgrade )we ended up doing obstructed balcony but it was still perfect!) We also drove down in a rental if I remember correctly to save money. One thing I love to get is a scooter delivered to our cabin because due to bursitis in my hips and low back discs out of place it's nice! we got to take it off the cruise ship to our hotel for the few extra days we stayed and they came to the hotel and picked it up.
In our early cruises in the beginning of the 2000's we did buy a necklace for me. In our transition cruise, we bought some beautiful rings to go with others I had. They had rainbow sapphires I think it was in them. I know it was rainbow but I have HORRID memory. We also have done the booze on the cruise thing. Shame you have to wait but worth it!
On the transition cruise we went from Alaska to Beijing. We booked a couple of days at the Hilton in the middle of downtown. We recommend a private tour guide than a group one. We were able to go to the Forbidden City, several cool shops on the way to the Great Wall, and great food! We got the guide suggestion from the hotel and had the guy for over 12 hours I think by the time we were done! I don't think we would have gotten the great insight as easily in a group. It did happen to be during an anniversary to the Square and it was more crowded than Times Square on NYE. They were telling locals just to stay home and watch it on TV. I don't do well with crowds so my dad and husband went out and it took them 3 hours to go 1 block! On our way home we stopped for a layover in Japan and got some really good liquor in the airport that my hubby mistakenly brought down on a visit with some friends and they were having a party and well you can figure the rest out. :)
My mom had a scooter for that trip and lent it to me to go to a chop stick store my dad and hubby had scoped out. I was able to maneuver around the tiny shop without hurting a thing! Apparently scooters weren't well known there and I had all sorts of people stopping me to ask questions. I did do donuts in it to drive my dad crazy outside. :)
I still say the one thing we don't go without on cruises is a hydropak like camelback. You can fill it with ice in warmer places and some bottled water so you also stay hydrated! Keeps your hands free to do other things! #1 thing we tell people all the time. ok I've written a novel....sorry! Jeanne

I collect Pandora charms so either buy a couple onboard if there is a Pandora shop or if not get them in a Pandora shop in port. I also buy postcards and a magnetic of the ports I visit. I have had to buy a hold-all before now to put all my purchases . I get playing cards that are sold off in the Casino for my son in law. They are like brand new and only cost2$ with the Cunard logo on.

I used to buy collector spoons but I can't find them anymore so I buy small windchimes and hang those up.i usually wait until the end of the cruise when everything is on sale. I was able to buy a pair of water/Beach shoes to replace the ones I was wearing.they are nicer and cheaper than my old ones! I do miss the spoons

We collect ship models. After 20+ cruises, we have a nice collection for our son's nautical- themed room. We also buy Christmas ornaments from the ship and each port for our "vacation" tree. I'm a teacher, so I buy ink pens on board. I'm obsessed with Royal Caribbean's blue ink pens!

On the ship? A cap and a coffee mug (if it has the ship name). I'm still mowing the lawn wearing my Norwegian Dawn hat. Sadly, my Jewel of the Seas coffee mug broke, but the ship specifications had mostly already worn away. (Still have that cap, too.) 😊

Hi Ilana! On our last cruise, from Rotterdam to Fort Lauderdale, we purchased polar fleece hoodies (Baltic brand). These are very good quality and the sales rice was just right. Also, as gifts for family and friends, we got a stack of magnetic picture frames. People love these! Great gifts.

My last 3 cruises on Princess, I got dichroic glass in in the form of palm sized sea shells. Absolutely gorgeous and I have them on the bookshelf at the top of the stairs where I see them every day. I am sure they don't carry those anymore in the gift shop but I guarantee that I will look for them.

I shop the Invicta watches onboard.
Important know what you are looking at. Not all Invicta watches are a good deal. That being said… on Royal with knowing what I was looking at, I did know what I was looking at and found a model I had been considering. The price was too high. They got a manager involved and approved a price match for me. This saved quite a bit of $$$ since now I didn’t have to pay shipping and tax. This trick works best in the store vs when they have the watches out on the table in the promenade. It never hurts to ask.

These are all great! I’m a sucker for the tee shirts and we always hit the candy store. We don’t eat a lot of candy at home, so it’s a real treat. We also had success with a beautiful watch that has remained lovely for over 15 years. Some jewelry isn’t great for lasting, but the watch is nice.
