Ensuring minimum energy efficiency standards in rentals

  • One in three South Australians rent their home. Many of them are long-term renters. Many renters are freezing through winter, baking through summer and unable to ensure there is sufficient ventilation keep to keep their homes free from damp and mould. There are currently no requirements for landlords to ensure their homes are healthy to live in.
    Greens housing spokesperson Robert Simms MLC introduces a bill to amend the Residential Tenancies Act to impose mandatory minimum energy standards for all rental properties to lower energy bills, improve temperature in homes and improve health.
