  • Distorted Classical Guitar with the Hello Sailor Effects Boss Metal Zone (Diezel Mod) and Godin Multiac. This is a Halloween Special where we explore the depths and depravity that is turning your electric classical guitar into an (angry?) metal monster. Joe Halliday of Hello Sailor Effects is doing some great things with his innovative designs so do check out his effects pedals. Presented by Dale Harris, guitar. The guitar used here is a Godin Multiac Grand Concert Duet SA Electric Classical Guitar.

    They called me crazy and said I couldn't play metal with a classical guitar.
    I melted their faces off.

    Thank u this perfect, I’m playing with a band currently and I’m looking to get a peizo put in. I always play with my fingers and I utilize triplets and different techniques with my hands so this is perfect.

    i used to run my steel string Fender through this Peavey distortion pedal right into a little tascam 4 track. i used those pick ups that you put in the soundhole. man it sounded cool. its a strange experience.
    thanks for the video dude

    What is the purpose of a steel string then? This is literally perfection. You can play beethoven and flamenco and metal and rock and roll and pop and country.

    Power chords sound great on a nylon string guitar

      Hi Charlie, they do indeed. I learned this in about 1987 when I saw John McLaughlin in concert playing a hybrid flamenco guitar. He was using an internal pickup plus an external microphone. He had a large effects rack next to him which was basically compressors and EQ. Really loud and powerful. Check out his Royal Festival Hall live recording from 1989 (or 90?). I was there in person too but anyway, that guitar sound is so powerful. All the best, Dale Harris

    this is also a testament to how good a guitar the multiac is! Not any classical guitar would take a pedal tht well without much bigger issues in feedback. Also my octaver doesnt track classical guitar very well and often you can hardly hear the effect

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  3 года назад

      Many thanks. Yes, the Multiac is incredible regarding what it can handle. So put it through be huge PA system and it'll be fine and wouldn't require too much fiddling about. Thanks for reaching out. All the best, Dale

    Ps. Further to my last comment….I got hold of a Yamaha silent guitar ( classical guitar model); it’s fab for playing through an amp and has a lot more sustain compared to my Yamaha acoustic classical with piezo. I’m looking forward to trying out a delay pedal for a slight bit of extra oomph but the difference is already really pronounced.

    Hi! Im quite newbie in the pedal world....i use a fender nylon guitar, but some of my songs need distortion in some parts (more rock)...which pedal should/could i use?

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Год назад +1

      That will depend on your taste, your guitar pickup, your amp or going DI to desk, how much bass shelving that you can stand, if you want soft or hard clipping square waves! Why not go to a guitar shop and test out a few? Overdrive and Distortion pedals by both Boss and TC Electronic are good starting points and will hold their investment value. I've used an MXR Distortion Plus, Boss DS-1 and MZ-2.
      Best regards, Dale Harris

    Thanks…this was interesting, however I’m not really looking for a metal sound but a way to make my nylon guitar maybe sustain a bit longer and have a bit more oomph for when I play/sing live; any ideas? I’ve watched a few videos about using a delay pedal but other than using a slapback fro more rhythmic parts it doesn’t seem that useful? Thanks again…. I’ve just realised I’ve been subscribe ages via your excellent classical guitar tutorials. Thanks again.

      Hi,
      Yes I totally understand your predicament. I am thinking about the best way of explaining what is a multitude of sound scenarios and solutions. I'll see if I can do a video series on this perhaps?
      Best regards, Dale

    • @Fremulshmat
      @Fremulshmat 2 года назад

      @@EverythingGuitar23 yes I think it would be interesting….I bet there are a good few rock/pop players who prefer the size/weight/space a nylon string Spanish style guitar offers. I’m gonna bring my guitar down to my local guitar shop and try out a few pedals….I’ll let you know how I get on.

    How wide is the nut on this guitar?

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Год назад

      All Godin Classic's offer two nut widths. Mine are are full 2" classical Spanish spec because that's what I'm used to playing in classical style, but they do a slimline neck at 1.715" that is more familiar to electric guitar players. I hope that this helps.
      Best regards, Dale Harris

    • @madeofnapalm
      @madeofnapalm Год назад +1

      @@EverythingGuitar23 It helps and confused even more 😁😁Couple of sites and one guy that owns Multiac Nylon say that it's 1.9"

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Год назад +1

      The fingerboard width is 2". The string spacing is 42.5mm. does that help? I don't own the slimline neck versions so you'll have to refer to the factory specifications.

    • @madeofnapalm
      @madeofnapalm Год назад

      @@EverythingGuitar23 Thank you. All of those are way too wide for me, it's just puzzling why even Godin site says it's 1.9

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Год назад

      It might depend on their tolerances so when I say 2" that might relate to Godin's 1.9"?
