Excellent display and recommendation on Bunker Distance Control Brian! I've been using this technique for years. If a bunker shot shot dictates it, I find it a lot easier to change clubs and maintain the same swing rhythm and not to try to overpower a shot with a SW. Good job Brian! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks John I appreciate the encouragement. It is so much easier to do it this way as you have found out. You did well finding this one. I did it a few years ago but it is still a good one. Thanks for watching. Brian
Thanks Brian! I'm always searching your channel either for new information or to substantiate what I'm trying to do with my game! I'm never discouraged because I always find both! Keep up the good work! I hope golfers are listening to what you are advocating!
Totally agree with you Brian, too hard to vary the amount of sand you take for the average golfer, even the expert! The easy option is to change clubs!! Great tip.
Great minds think alike Anne. Golf just does not need to be that complicated. It is so much easier to change the club. I look forward to your video on Wednesday. Brian
Good treatment from the Doc. I hate using a 60degree wedge and thin most of them so unusual clubs in the bunker sooth my self inflicted wounds ! Thanks Brian for passing on your knowledge. Stay well. David
Glad to be of service David. We need to sort out that lob wedge issue. It is probably better done by your coach in the flesh. It's the second day of summer here in Melbourne. It was 8 degrees this morning. The heater was on and I am wearing my down jacket as we speak.... I thought that might cheer you up a bit. Brian
Hey Anthony. It is what a lot of golfer do. It feels like it is the right thing to do because it is sand and we have a sand wedge so surely that is the club to use....... Give a few different clubs a try and let me know how it goes. Brian
fitzygolfpro things are very well hope you and family are healthy wasn’t able to Play for while small fractures in hand but back now for 4 weeks back to work on the 16th have lost 4 shots on handicap by just practicing my short game with your tips all I could do for a few months cheers
Sorry to hear that Matt but it produced a great outcome. Now you are back don't let that part of your game slip. Keep at it and there will me more reduction to come.
fitzygolfpro I will certainly keep working on short game just used putt lab i now know why most misses where to the pull side what I thought was a in to out path was about to in LOL HA Now putting with blue tac a little more than a ball with apart gives me feedback does your mind in a bit Now have to work on distance control that I am striking more often on the centre who would have thunk it hey chat soon Merry Xmas Matt
Generally in bunker shots and shorter short game shots I grip down the club. This allows me to reduce the distance I hit the ball and gives me better feel. As most short game shots are shorter shots it is a great way to reduce distance without changing much in my swing. My basic decision making process in controlling distance with all short game shots is as follows. 1. Do I have the club to hit this the required distance? Yes or no? 2. Can I shorten or lengthen the club to hit the ball the required distance? Yes or no? 3. Can I alter my tempo a little to hit the ball the required distance? Yes or no? 4. Lastly, can I change my swing length to hit the ball the required distance. This is what I have been using for the past 30 years and works pretty well. I hope that helps. Brian
Thanks again Brian. Is the ball position centre and square face ? It looks like you play a pretty normal shot type unlike me who tries to crouch down, open face, heavy weight on front foot, shaft leaning back and generally overcomplicate things and has no control over any bunker shot leaving it in the bunker or skull it.
My pleasure John. It pretty much is a normal shot. Square face, hands neutral, ball position a little forward of middle weight ever so slightly on the left foot. It is very easy to over complicate. Brian
Good question. You just add 10%. So it’s 24 yards. I sometimes forget to say both when I am filming. I hope you enjoyed it. That is one of my favourite videos. Brian
Biggest problems with bunkers at my course is the bad lies because people don't rake bunkers or don't do a proper job. End up with pile of sand behind your ball, in holes etc. Is there much you can do in this case other than hit and hope?
It is a very common problem particularly with public courses although I used to work at a very private club here in Melbourne where it was also a big problem. As long as there is sand underneath the ball you should be ok. The club shouldn't actually touch the ball so having sand behind isn't so much of a problem. It is more of a mental challenge. If there is little sand under the golf ball that is more of an issue. I would approach that shot like playing it from the hard pan. I have made a video on that topic and I will put the link below. ruclips.net/video/oUTV-0lYayU/видео.html I hope that helps Anthony.
@@fitzygolfpro Thank you Brian. I am having a fitzygolfpro afternoon on youtube. Really enjoying your tips. Long drive to where you are but I think I am going to have to make the journey for a bunker lesson.

Thanks Jesse. It is what I strive to do on every video I make and every lesson I give. Keep it as simple as I can.

thanks for that i've just realized that i go to the same club for different bunker shots

Thanks Brian, Could you explain if you are gripping down on the options or varying the gripping down position?

In this method do you open n close the face with the different clubs ?
Square club face every time.
Brian..I'm from the USA whats 22 meters

Any time Anthony it would be my pleasure.
The best golf tip for hitting out of bunkers is to make sure you don’t hit your ball in the bunker. 😂
I can tell you have been around the block a few times.
Great advice.
