    @TransAmDrifter It took Australian engineers to show GM how to make a rear drive car. The G8 and Camaro share the same basic floorpan, which in turn is based upon the VE Holden Commodore. These cars are used as police pursuit cars in Australia, and were designed, engineered and built here. All Pontiac did when they got their hands on it was change the grille, and put their badges on it

    So what's the displacement of this engine? It sounds a lot like the American Chrysler Hemi V8s, specifically the 5.8 litre 360. I love the rhythm it's belting out through the exhausts. And is that engine all alloy? most American V8s around this one's era were all cat iron, which is why American muscle cars understeered so much

    @DMADV8 So many idiots in America thought that US V8 muscle was the only way to make something go fast. This engine has potential in just about anything, big or small. I've always admired Russian engineering, as they're usually way ahead. Australia designed and built its own V8s until 2000, when Holden started importing the 5.7 litre Chevrolet V8

    Is that a 4.2 liter engine? Not too big considering the original application. Those are some skinny intake runners though.

    @Mechknight73 I don't like 99.9% of new cars, so they're all shit to me, no matter where they're designed, built or whatever. First and second generation Pontiac Firebird or Chevy Camaro (they're quite the same) are IMHO the best american pony cars of all. I'm Polish and never driven any of them, but read lots of stuff about them. I like them pretty much, but prefer Audi Quattro's above any ;)

  • @TransAmDrifter
    @TransAmDrifter 14 лет назад

    @Mechknight73 american cars had very soft and geometrically fucked up suspensions and that's why they were (and even still ARE) poorly cornering. Weight bias is not the only factor. Front wheel drive cars are having totally fucked up weight bias but they are cornering quite well.
