Yeah friend. That's how things got done back then. Whole bands playing the whole thing live in your face. No cheats. No autotune or sampling. Genuine blood sweat and tears.
Just 4 lads live, 2 guitars, piano, and drums, and no electronic trickery used today. All four members were stars in their own right. Roger Taylor's drums and back ground vocals are epic.
Queen was a band made up of 4 extraordinary musicians. Freddie Mercury - lead singer, piano, songwriter Brian May - lead guitar, vocals, songwriter Roger Taylor - drums, vocals, songwriter John Deacon - bass guitar, songwriter Freddie wrote this song, but all 4 wrote hit songs and are in the songwriters Hall of fame. They are all also multi instrumentalists, I listed their main instruments above, but they can all play more than one instrument. They are a genre all of their own, doing original songs that go from hard Rock such as Stone Cold Crazy (live at The Rainbow) to music hall like Seaside Rendezvous, or from Diss tracks like Death On Two Legs (lyric video recommended) to Love songs like You Take My Breath Away (live at Hyde Park '76) and everything in between. They have over 200 songs and even have a folk song about time dilation! There is nothing they couldn't play and Freddie couldn't sing. They are one of the rare bands that are great in the studio but ever better live. No computers, no auto tuning, just hard work and pure talent. Welcome to the wonderful and sometimes bizarre world of Queen my friend.
Going to add just a bit to your already good intro to the band: Sir Brian May: Doctor of Astrophysics. Studied reflected light from interplanetary dust and the velocity of dust in the plane of the Solar System. Has worked with NASA. Made his guitar with his father when he was around 16/17. Was poor so used things around the house like a piece of a fireplace for the neck/mother’s buttons/knitting needle etc. It's called "The Red Special" Still plays it to this day. Roger Taylor: Amazing back up vocals. Has a BS in biology. John Deacon: Degree in Electronics. Inverter of the Deacy amp (which Brian uses to this day) Sadly John had a bit of a breakdown after Freddie's death and only performed with the rest of the band a 3 times after. He is, these days, only involved in the financial side through his attorney. He's been pretty much a recluse. All but John had singing talent where they could have had their own bands and been a success. Put them all together and you have QUEEN! (also all but John have done solo albums) Remember. NO auto tune. No tricks. No formal training. Pure talent! You can't put Queen in a box as far as genre. There is no box!
This is one of the greatest live performaces ever. Freddie Mercury wrote the song as a tribute to Aretha Franklin to the queen of soul music, Freddie loved her early gospel style singing.
Notice how Freddie handled the bit where Brian May had to go backstage and see the guitar technician with a problem he had and Freddie just kept the song going and the crowd ignorant? Pure Genius! All of these guys wrote hit songs for the group.
Freddie Mercury is the main vocalist and he also is the main pianist. He has a voice that can't be described with words. Considered by many the best singer ever. Brian May is the main guitarist, but he also plays piano and a bunch of other stringed instruments. He has the lower and softer voice of Queen. John Deacon is the main bassist but he also plays guitar and piano, and a bunch of others. Unfortunately John doesn't have a proper voice to sing. Roger Taylor is the drummer and also plays everything else. He has the high voice, having a really bright falsetto that sounds unreal, but he also has a rock'n'roll voice, really raspy and powerful voice. All of them write and each of them have written top #1 hit singles. Each of them had their solo careers, although Queen was always the major priority.
Not many singers can sing live and sound good. But Freddie was on another level of greatness. His worst day was better than the second-best singer's best day. And that is one of the reasons why I'm a Queen fan for life.
Queen is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 and was comprised of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and pianist Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen is an unusual rock band. All four members had amazing musical talent and each of the four members was a successful composer. Queen is the only group in which all members of the band have songs, that they composed, inducted into the Music Hall of Fame. Each member of Queen was a strong and unique individual. They each had different musical tastes which are probably why Queen's catalog of music contains such a variety of genres. They wrote and recorded songs that are soft rock, hard rock, progressive rock, arena rock, thrash rock, glam rock, rockabilly, r&b, blues, pop, soul, funk, disco, dance music, jazz, gospel, folk, opera, show tunes, ragtime, etc. They would sometimes combine multiple genres in a single song.
Queen was probably the greatest rock group ever. All four were very talented singers, songwriters, arrangers, and entertainers. All four were great on their individual musical instruments too.
I have lost count of how many times I have watched this video; hundreds of times. And it just blows me away every time. If this is your first Queen experience, you picked an awesome one to get started with! Cuz this is one of the best live performances ever recorded….like EVER. Cuz listening to it, it’s easy to forget that it was a live performance in the middle of a 2-hour long concert. It’s not like this band prepared this one song and came out on stage and killed it. No. This performance was sandwiched in between incredible songs which they performed before this one and more incredible songs which they performed after this one. Not only were these band members the ultimate professionals, they were also musical geniuses which they have proven time and time again. Welcome to the fantastic world of Queen!
Queen is arguably one of the best live rock bands if not THE best. Freddie Mercury is the singer/piano and he wrote this song which he said was a nod to Aretha Franklin who was a soul/gospel/rock singer...outstanding singer. I love this band both live and studio recordings, they are fantastic and Freddie has been said to have been the best Frontman of all time, always high energy and giving more than 100%, Every member of this band is at the top in their field and all are college grads with Brian (guitar) holding a PhD in astrophysics and was recently knighted by Prince Charles so he is now Sir DR. Brian Harold May, CBE, PhD. There is a ton of history on this band and people who follow them love to talk about it. I liked your reaction, thank you. If you react to a lot of Queen, the Queen Army will support your channel and it will grow quickly.
No backing tracks, no in ear monitors, no electronic trickery, just 4 super talented people at the top of their game literally playing live totally in sync with each other. Queen is a band of 4 uber talent musicians. Roger Taylors high backing vocals are next level too. What a band.
QUEEN is the name of the whole band. (not just one person). Freddie Mercury is the name of the lead singer who is playing the piano. Brian May is the guitarist & he's doing some backup vocals here. John Deacon is the bass player, doesn't sing. Roger Taylor is the drummer & it's primarily his high pitched backup vocals that are harmonizing with Freddie in this LIVE concert.
Oh yeah! You should jump right into the Queen rabbit hole, I guarantee your channel will grow! If you play Queen, they will come and you will hear some of the best music from the greatest bands of our time! Keep it coming Chase 👍
The whole band were just sensational, really unbelievable, in 1981! I was 21 at the time, wasn't there as I was in Liverpool UK. But I certainly watched them on tv, & was just blown away!! Freddie is just brilliant, also particularly Roger Taylor, drummer & singer!! Adore this particular song very much. Yet I love ALL of their songs, just phenomenal! 💝💝
Queen was a band of four members...Freddie Mercury lead vocals and piano, Roger Taylor drums and vocals, Brian May guitar and vocals, John Deacon bass. All four members were college educated, wrote songs. The have a huge catalog worthy of listening to!
Welcome to the QUEENDOM!! This is a rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳 worth diving into .. even if you accidentally slip & fall into the Queen hole. (wink wink) My favorite Queen song written by Freddie inspired by his love for Aretha Franklin!
The whole band is Queen It's a group effort, they ALL contributed to the song writing. I saw them several times and they never sounded better than when live!
Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest performers on earth. He could perform in front of massive crowds and have them eating out of his hands. All 4 of them were talented beyond belief. Watch their Kind of Magic performance at Wembley. It's amazing. I was there.
Hey, Chase! Thanks for stumbling onto one of Queen's best live performances... and yes, they are a BAND.. everyone is stunning in this... not just Fred on vocals & piano - Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums, John Deacon on bass - and Brian & Rog on harmonies/background vocals... (especially roger on the high stuff) -- hope you listen & post more Queen reactions... they are unique... (p.s. total live talent - no "autotune")
Love your first reaction to Queen! You got the important stuff... there's no band that's "like" Queen really and they are tied for best in the world with probably 20 bands but -- that ain't bad!
Welcome to the world of Queen and their discography of about 200 songs, at least 4 of them have over 1 billion views: Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, Another One Bites the Dust, and Under Pressure and possibly more by now, but please don't just just review songs like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. Dig deeper and discover songs like Dreamer's Ball, March of the Black Queen, Cool Cat and Bijou. The variety is endless
Such a delight watching and listening to you experience the wonder of the Queen Band, their pianist and lead singer, Freddie Mercury, drummer and backing vocalist Roger Taylor, Guitarist and backing vocalist Brian May and John Deacon, bass....and not a backing vocalist....tho' a few times he gives us a treat but has been quick to say "I can't sing". We love catching him doing it tho[. Great reaction! Thanks..
Saw Queen in 1981 in Dallas. They opened with "Tie Your Mother Down" and kept the pedal to the Metal for the next 3 hours. I feel very fortunate to have seen Freddie Mercury strut down the runway into the middle of the crowd while Brian May did his virtuoso thing on the guitar.
Queen is the band. Freddie lead vocals and piano, Brian May guitar backing vocals, Roger Taylor on drums, backing vocals, John Deacon on Base and backing vocals. No one can touch them today. Pure talent and music genius.
To say Freddie could sing is an understatement. Freddie could sing anything he wanted & he did, including singing w/world famous Opera star Montserrat Caballé. (Put the Olympic theme "Barcelona" on your list.) He wrote songs for her, they did albums together & they absolutly adored each other. Freddie was a leader in Rock, & Opera...
You've probably heard this many times before but there was so much good music around in the 70's and 80's , [ as I think you are now finding out for yourself ] it was incredible. Don't get me wrong , great music is still being made today by some great singers and bands , there's just not as much to choose from. We were all spoilt with so much great music from back then and probably didn't realize how lucky we were at the time. Keep up the great work Chase , you are reacting to some absolute bangers. If you could react to "You Came" by Kim Wilde at some point I know you won't be disappointed , it is a "banger".
When you watched this performance you watched the greatest performance from any group in the history of music. You gotta react to more Queen. Front man Freddie Mercury was the greatest front man in the history of music. The band Queen are also. The energy the vocals the range of songs the crowd control are incredible. Watch Love of my life in Rio and also the live aid concert (1985 Full set). The greatest overall live performance of all time. Plus many many more.
@@chasevickerss I'm glad you did. Most bands today, only the singer sings. In Queen, 3 of them sing and sing their own songs. All 4 of them write and composed songs and lyrics.
@Chase Vickerss All 4 of them also have college degrees Freddie the singer in design Roger the drummer in dentistry John the bassist in engineering Brian the guitarist is an astrophysicist, has a PhD They all had degrees to fall back on if music didn't work out.
Sing like Queen and play brilliantly at the same time...who can do that now? Plus do teenagers now not understand what a real band is? That's so incredibly sad.
ALL the comments below give you the info and history but your reaction is what Freddy would love pure joy at his PERFORMANCE because he could sing and play music but most of all he performed RIP Freddy xxx
Freddie Mercury (degree in Graphic Design) lead Vocals/piano Dr Brian May PHD (Astrophysicist) Lead Guitar “The Red Rocket” built by he and his father when he was 17, John Deacon (electrical engineer) Bass Guitar, built the Amps for Brian's guitar. Roger Taylor (degree in biology, premed, was going to be a dentist until …) Drums! All four individually wrote a chart top ten for the band, it’s like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse collided. I saw them four times, enjoy their incredible catalog, each album is beyond categorization because of the individual input of each. Queen is the four of them. Freddie is forever!
Brian May (lead guitar) has a doctorate in astro physics too. This should teach you not to judge a book by it's cover. You can't tell how well somebody can sing by how they look, it's just that nearly all bands in recent decades are manufactured by record labels and chosen on looks first to make them marketable to young audiences.
NOT KNOWING WHO "QUEEN" ARE... Is like not knowing who the Beatles, Elvis or Bob Marley are. And if you don't know any one out of those... then you have an enormous music journey infront of you 😊
Yay I love Queen- thanks great job. I bet you’ve head a lot of their music you just didn’t know it was from Queen. The songs We Will Rock You? we Are The Champions?- songs sung at all games. Queen is Freddie Mercury-lead vocals, piano; Sir Dr. Brian May- guitar, back up vocals, John Deacon- Bass guitar, Roger Taylor-drums, back up vocals ( high falsetto voice). Try Bohemian Rhapsody official video next. Don’t mind the clothes and long hair. It’s from early 1970’s. It is Freddie’s opus.
Freddie made a solo album called’Mr. Bad Guy’- 1886 he also wrote and sang a complete album of Opera with Spanish Diva Montserrat Cabelle- he sings in Spanish and Japanese. Roger Taylor the drummer had a band called The Cross. Sir Brian May is also an Astrophysicist
Oh young man, yes "Queen" was a band and each of the 4 were indispensable. It's difficult to see anyone but Freddie, (the lead singer), but it took the talents of all four to create the Queen sound. You're young therfore forgiven.
If someone hasn't already told you, reaction to Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Queen - Don't Stop Me Now Queen - Live Aid set from July 13, 1985 - 20 minute LIVE set (It was fund raiser concert to feed people in Africa) It was 12 hours with a lot of band, broadcast ALL over the world. This fund raiser was also in Philadelphia PA at the same time. One performer, Phil Collins, performed in London then flew to Philadelphia and performed there, IN THE SAME DAY.
You said "I didn't expect him to look like that" and later "if you look at him you dont think he can sing". You can't judge whether a person can sing or what they will sound like by the way they look. Singers come in all shapes and sizes and some of them maynotbe what you consider to be beautiful. You have a bit of growing up to do.
Sadly I have to agree. Another reactor listening to this very song was shocked. They can "all play an instrument, while they're singing"... OMG... Ummm Ya, it's called, 'a band'. Was tempted to ask what the hell are you listening to these days? But let it go.
Other than the Beatles, there's probably not a British band that's woven it's way into American society more than Queen. As you come across their back catalogue, even someone of your tender years, will realise how many of their songs are somewhat familiar to you.
This is the best rabbit hole you will ever find... Enjoy 🎉

I was fortunate to see Queen live twice at Wembley stadium.truly amazing.freddies voice was outstanding. All of the group are so talented.
Queen is the greatest band in world 👑 🤗❣

Dude, it's wild and kinda cute that you ask about them for the first time. It's cool!! It's Queen baby!!
YES!!!! The best band ever!!!
The best lead singer of a band....
Freddie Mercury!!!!! LEGENDS
I never knew that! I always thought the transition was a bit awkward so that explains it.
A quartet of geniuses, each one in there own right.
It's a band of 4 people. They did everything.
Freddie Mercury is the main vocalist and he also is the main pianist.
He has a voice that can't be described with words. Considered by many the best singer ever.
Brian May is the main guitarist, but he also plays piano and a bunch of other stringed instruments.

300 more Queen tracks to do…..you will be amazed!!🎼🇬🇧🎼
Understatement of the century... Freddie can sing.

You’re experiencing one of the greatest of all time singing in montreal. Great review.
This is called pure entertainment.
Queen is the whole band's name!
You listened to QUEEN! 4 talents with pure, timeless music and without autotunes or something else.
Every single member in the band is considered one of the best at their instruments, (Freddie's voice being his primary instrument).
Hey, Chase! You’ll probably really like Dragon Attack
You can't go wrong with Queen and I am pretty sure you'll become a huge Queen fan! :)
Brain May is not just an astrophysicist he is now a Knight of the Realm, so Dr. Sir Brian May.

This is a band
Four members
They all play and sing
Queen, they were 4 fantastic talented musicians. Freddie was the lead vocalist but all of them made Queen great.
Check out Hammer To Fall @ Live Aid.
❤LOVE QUEEN👑
Loved your reaction and you asking questions. Im 22, but i grew up with my parents playing just rock music. My first tat at 16 was for queen.
Greatness 😊 thanks for your reaction 😊

4 genios divirtiéndose , y compositores de muchas de sus canciones .
La bebida es agua con miel para la garganta❤

I did see that !
@@chasevickerss I'm glad you did. Most bands today, only the singer sings. In Queen, 3 of them sing and sing their own songs. All 4 of them write and composed songs and lyrics.

Its a band called QUEEN 🥰
You probably know Queen songs and just don’t realize it. Another One Bites The Dust, We are the Champions” are a couple.
He might know We Will Rock You as well.
Mercury is considered to be the best vocalist in rock history.

All four individually wrote a chart top ten for the band, it’s like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse collided.
I saw them four times, enjoy their incredible catalog, each album is beyond categorization because of the individual input of each. Queen is the four of them. Freddie is forever!
Freddie created the Queen logo.
@@treetopjones737 yes! I should have mentioned that, thanks for adding the info!
The best band in the worldb❤
Freddy Mercury is a real showman amazing god rest his soul.
Only 199 more Queen songs to review. Bohemian Rhapsody has 1.6 billion views. Studio version is spectacular.
I have done bohemian rhapsody!
Penny Lane in Liverpool will always be associated with The Beatles but, it had another soon to be famous resident. Freddie Mercury.
NOT KNOWING WHO "QUEEN" ARE...
Is like not knowing who the Beatles, Elvis or Bob Marley are.
And if you don't know any one out of those... then you have an enormous music journey infront of you 😊
Here Freddie wears a superman shirt. what you don't see is somewhere out there superman is wearing a Freddie shirt.
Nice job, boss. Enjoyed it…
Freddie made a solo album called’Mr. Bad Guy’- 1886 he also wrote and sang a complete album of Opera with Spanish Diva Montserrat Cabelle- he sings in Spanish and Japanese. Roger Taylor the drummer had a band called The Cross. Sir Brian May is also an Astrophysicist
+ 1 to yours 10K.
Now have heard real music and there is loads more.
2 of the best concerts I ever went to was Queen in September 1980 and July 1982 at Madison Square Garden.
Oh young man, yes "Queen" was a band and each of the 4 were indispensable. It's difficult to see anyone but Freddie, (the lead singer), but it took the talents of all four to create the Queen sound. You're young therfore forgiven.
THANK YOU !
If someone hasn't already told you, reaction to
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Queen - Live Aid set from July 13, 1985 - 20 minute LIVE set (It was fund raiser concert to feed people in Africa) It was 12 hours with a lot of band, broadcast ALL over the world. This fund raiser was also in Philadelphia PA at the same time. One performer, Phil Collins, performed in London then flew to Philadelphia and performed there, IN THE SAME DAY.
I had to put the video to speed 0,5 to understand what u say
You're very young, it would help if you read even a tiny bit about new performers that you're going to listen to and react to.
Check out Queen at Live Aid, 1985
You said "I didn't expect him to look like that" and later "if you look at him you dont think he can sing". You can't judge whether a person can sing or what they will sound like by the way they look. Singers come in all shapes and sizes and some of them maynotbe what you consider to be beautiful. You have a bit of growing up to do.
Not to mention that Freddie was BEAUTIFUL. And incredibly sexy. But unlike today's pretty'boys and -girls, je was also a Musical GENIUS.
I guarantee that you have heard queen before, you just don’t know that you have heard queen before.
It's pretty sad that many young people don't understand the concept of a BAND!
Sadly I have to agree. Another reactor listening to this very song was shocked. They can "all play an instrument, while they're singing"... OMG... Ummm Ya, it's called, 'a band'.
Was tempted to ask what the hell are you listening to these days? But let it go.
in rio the wholeaudiance joined in
Other than the Beatles, there's probably not a British band that's woven it's way into American society more than Queen. As you come across their back catalogue, even someone of your tender years, will realise how many of their songs are somewhat familiar to you.
queen is a rock band
