Another fun adventure. Thanx for bringing me along. I’m a guy that’s a Californian that lived in iwakuni, Japan a good portion of my adolescence. I will keep an eye out for your web site. I went on RUclips and watched a video of Conversation Piece and Alex Budnick. Very good stuff!!!
Hi these videos of Japan have been fascinating and refreshing to see the breadth of guitar stores. I’m now considering visiting in a few months , how easy/difficult is it to travel between Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka ? Keep the videos coming, thank you
It's super easy to travel between the big cities. Just hop on a shinkansen. They depart multiple times an hour. Tokyo-Kyoto is like 2 hours if I remember correctly, Kyoto - Osaka maybe 30 min. You'll find plenty of english info on tickets etc.
Also worth a look while in Japan is the thrift or second hand stores. Many have musical instrument sections and some good bargains are too be had on even some of the more noted guitar mfg models. Niigata has a few small shops that have hidden gems as well as the Music Expo's in different cities. Japan is the land of Everything Entertainment 24/7. Thanks for another vid showing the awesomeness that is Japan.
Looks like the most awesome place to browse check out and buy guitars! ♥️ I would love to go there I'm sure I could spend a couple days checking out all the stuff trying out stuff, REALLY AWESOME! A GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS SEE YOU ON THE NEXT ONE THANKS ALEX.....
I have an 84 JV telecaster seafoam green. Hands down it is the best telecaster I have ever played. Not sure what is was about that era but if they could recreate that it'd be awesome.
Always watch your vids, great content. What better way to try a new guitar in store, tuning and riffing unavoidable but there should be, where possible, a specific sound proofed space for that.
Wow, what an amazing area!! I’ve been hoping for the chance to get a Kazuki Arai Fender Jazz V bass someday if I ever visit Japan, it’s on my “holy grail” list!
I'm visiting next month and my goal for the trip is to buy from Ochanomizu! How willing are the shops to negotiate on their 2nd hand guitars? Is it something they'd do for single guitar purchases? Or just multiple guitars?
Im leaving Japan today. Checked out a few shops and hard offs. Saw lots of cool stuff. But no great deals. Maybe you guys got there first lol or Im a cheap Charlie
Can't say for sure on that, but it is a very separate music industry there I believe they're the second largest behind the US so could factor into things
Thanks Alex and Co. for your personality, values and generosity sharing you adventures... And the gear too. Haha
Cheers from Yorkshire, England, John
Crazy how many shops they have. We can't seem to CLOSE them fast enough around here.
@@Aeidotronics absolutely! Wish we had this many in Florida!

@@GoodHurtsMusic I’m saying!!!!!
Be great to have a street like that here in the USA 🇺🇸. Love to visit Japan and see that adventure you experience.

Man that reference at 4:11 was Smooth…
That Strandberg at Hard Off trying to hide. Also that Edwards Gazette Signature model was cool.
Ochanomizu is such a great area for guitars, played a James Tyler guitar in one of the stores that was over 1,000,000 Yen and worth every penny

Your friend is right about vintage basses. Something happens to them after years of play that can’t be recreated any other way.
Beautiful tele at 2:21, never seen one so nice
I cannot hear somebody say “man. It’s a hot one”, without saying the next line from the Santana song too!!! I feel so seen haha.

I will always want the Ohmura Snapper because it has paw print inlays. I will never have the 10k USD to own it.
But LOOK AT IT :-D

I spy a Gretsch roundup.
How many trips to date ???
I didn't see many yamaha's which is curious being Japan
Zip Airline is only charging 750rt to Tokyo from CA. Small price to pay to visit guitar ‘heaven’…
Poosy turn red ?
oh cha no me zoo : equal stress on each syllable
i have a guitar question: how come no one ever plays screaming blues leads on a Rickenbacker
I wish I didn't have an unnatural dislike for headless guitars, but I do. Shouganai as they say.
I dont think claptons done anything big for martin since the 90's with unplugged..are they behind with music in japan?
Can't say for sure on that, but it is a very separate music industry there I believe they're the second largest behind the US so could factor into things
Is there such a thing as too many guitars? I think not.
The pedals are insanely cheap over there
6:16 - That pinkish Les Paul Custom... Would love more info on that beauty.
