    Cool seeing you do something different! Though I know you've done arming sword in the past. I love the confidence you both have in the cover of your weapon and the bind, especially in sections like 3:45-4:05

    I find it quite difficult to do good sparring with steel messers as the required protective gloves hinder the movement and feeling of the weapon a lot. But you two did very well, this was beautiful to see! :-D

    Looks like you two had a lot of fun. I enjoyed seeing to practicing something different. This made me much more interested in working with the messer than anything I had previously watched. Cheers to you and Oskar for that. ;)

      @@FedericoMalagutti why in european martial arts the hands are behind like this?

      @@ajithsidhu7183 sometimes people fighting with messer keep their hand behind to not expose it as a target. That’s not a rule, some people does, other doesn’t

    Elegant, gentlemanly and technical. I like that you are presenting each other with problems and letting the other person work out how to solve them, it's what I call 'technical sparring'. Sometimes I direct students to actively use or move through every guard position they know and with good form as it makes sparring more interesting as it is not always intuitive for beginners who often want to just whack each other as hard as they can :'D Great stuff.

    Very good. I enjoyed the playfulness but also, the sincerity in the footwork. Solid video, as well :)

    A lot of beautiful hand shots in this video.
    These should probably have been a very good self defense or duel technique as you would get out of a fight without having to explain why you killed the guy.

    4:15 Interesting... Federico's binding technique gave Oskar chance to counterattack. What if Federico kept pushing left and thrust, like mutieren.

    Oskar and Fredrico in the same video again? Be careful. I don't think the Internet can handle this much awesome. You might break some routers.

    I have to ask: did Oskar get fooled by seemingly casual footwork at 3:10, letting you too close? If so, that was a straight out of a book kind of moment.
    On a more general note, I recently did some light sparring with some long knives, and I have to say, even a small crossguard changes a lot. About half of what you did here wouldn't really work without it.

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, crossguard or more generally speaking any kind of hand protection large enough to protect the hand in some way modifies the fight quite a lot.

      Yes, this is why I think the disc guard is undervalued on weapons like chinese dao which are very messer-like.
