I'm sure you already know, but I'd like to remind you that you are doing important work here. Personally, I don't mind taking some time to prepare meals, I enjoy the process of cooking and I'll often spend a couple of hours doing it... but of course there are those days when I'm tired, pressed for time and just want something simple and tasty to knock together. I've read a lot of the comments on your videos, I think it's accurate to say that there are hundreds of thousands of people following you who are hard pressed for time, money, ideas and really benefit from the recipes you share. I've lost track of the number of comments from people saying they've satisfied their wife, husband, children, date, or just students who have started cooking for the first time, all thanks to you. That's something really special mate, you truly are an inspiration and you should feel very proud.
I've done something similar to this, but I use large pasta shells. (Gives it a more taco-y theme since the meat clumps inside the shells, like tiny tacos.)
I make this all the time for a client of mine. He loves it. I don't add the cheddar cheese at the end. I go through all the steps until the pasta comes to a boil. I let it boil for about 8 minutes then take it off the stove and cover it for 30 minutes so the pasta puffs up. When it is served, my client adds parmesan cheese to it at that point. There is never a time when he leaves behind a single spoonful. What a simple, great recipe.
I did it with chopped cauliflower "browned" on a skillet to reduce the moisture instead of the pasta and it was great, I just skipped the added water and cut the broth to half a liter. For the low carb people obviously but it also works to reduce the calories by a lot.
I just made this and because I am practically allergic to washing dishes I went ahead and added a can of sweet corn and a can of water chestnutsjust before adding the cheese and this put my vegetables in the meal and added some really great flavor and texture. Keep up the great work
I just want to thank you for the fact on times when my food budget is tight your recipes have fed me for weeks on end as i usually portion and freeze the leftovers. Great start to 2020!
Hi Danny Richie, have you tried his homemade hamburger helper? It's also a one pot dinner and easy to make. Super delicious if you never tried it. I don't remember what he actually called it tho.
I was worried about you David haven’t seen you in a while. I didn’t know if it was your health or the fires. So glad you’re back and ok! Great recipe and thank you for sharing. Your friend in Iowa.
Thankfully I haven’t been too badly affected by the bushfires (except being inundated with weeks of smoke) but it’s been a scary time for all Aussies ❤️
@@OnePotChefShow I live in an area of California that's smack in the middle of where we've had our big fires the past two years and the wind patterns pull in and kept the smoke right on top of us for weeks. It's some weird bowl affect due to our sea level and surrounding hills. It's awful and super bad for the health. It really is scary to deal with.
OnePotChefShow My sis lives in Adelaide (transplanted Canadian) and we’ve been worried about all Aussies. Love your channel. Please take care of yourself.
I call this recipe Skillet Chilli Mac and do as you do. One skillet, meat onion, garlic and I add green bell pepper or Pablona pepper. I add sour cream and Parmesan cheese but as you said, this is a very adaptable recipe and I have been serving it to my family for years. Add garlic bread and your all set. thanks. I often look at your site but mostly dont comment. I do love the content.
Made this for dinner tonight. Hubby even had a second helping! It was delicious!!!! Thank you for a good hamburger-helper type recipe that is homemade without all the preservatives!
And as potentially uncool as this admission may make me, having grown up on the assorted Helpers, I must say that I am really a fan of Hamburger Helper (especially their Potatoes Stroganoff and their lasagna). I find that HH comes in handy when I’m not really sure of what I want to make for my meal and/or I’m just being lazy! I am a newbie to this channel but being that I am a huge fan of quick, one pot meals (as well as being a huge fan of British accents...especially one like David has), it seems that this place on the web is truly home for me! So happy to know you’re here, my Brit bro’! I look forward to seeing more of your yummy recipes here! 🇬🇧👍🤗
I can tell this is going to be an immediate hit in my household. Thank you for another winner!! Sending you best wishes for a Happy 2020 from the U.S.!!
Enjoy all your recipes David. And your right. Its nice to cook easy meal for ejole family to enjoy after long day at work. Thankou!!! I introduced your chanel to my son who lives in his own apartment lol, he now enjoys your recipes, a big THANK YOU
I make a version of this dish, but I add a can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes and about a 1/2 cup less of water (the tomatoes have liquid). You can also make an Italian version by using half grnd beef and half Italian sausage and use an envelope of savory herb and garlic soup mix (Lipton) in place of the taco seasoning and a blend of Italian cheeses. YUM! Kids love it and it feeds a crowd. Or just a few really hungry lndividuals. LOL! Love you, OPC!
Hi David. You are my favourite RUclips chef. You have wonderful recipes and a wonderful personality to go along with them! I am praying for a swift end to the fires and have organised a group of Canadians in sending marsupial pouches to care for the injured and orphaned animals devastated by the fires. Thank you for your warmth and wonderful recipes! God bless Australia!! 💗🐨🦘🇦🇺
I found your channel like, 10 minutes ago trying to find “quick and easy” recipes that are actually “quick and easy” and not hours of prep work Yours are all pretty damn easy looking though and they look delicious too so I’m pretty happy I found this place And this is coming from someone who doesn’t even have the patience required to boil potatoes thoroughly
It looks absolutely scrumptious; what a great meal for a winter day. Thank you for your recipes. I appreciate them anytime you feel up to posting them. God bless you.
I made this earlier this morning since due to my job, I'm on-call in a high position on the priority list. Since I didn't have taco salsa, I used tomato paste that I had leftover from making the beef stew I made days ago (also found on this channel.) and they were amazing! The only thing I did different with the taco pasta apart from adding the tomato paste was add two more handfuls of cheese or roughly two extra cups.
When you said you were adding cheese I said "oh yeah"! Looks delicious! You could even transfer it to a baking dish and put it under the broiler in the oven for a few minutes to broil the cheese! 💚👍
I'm sure you already know, but I'd like to remind you that you are doing important work here.

Genius part about cooking the macaroni along with the meat.
