Great tutorial. Just stripped down my DC04 Absolute - great design just one type of screw and everything came apart fairly easily with no breakages. Replaced Brush bar, clutch and belts which were worn out. Brushes were going on the motor so decided to put in a new Qualtex motor! Working better than ever now. Thanks for your help.

Just caught up with this video Sam. I do like these machines and I have one of these to look at that was left on the pavement in my road. I was astounded that the motor seems good. I'll be looking at it soon. Another great video.

Easily the most entertaining Vacuum tutorials on the WWW , Americans take note , this is how you do it with plenty of panache .Even snapping the brushroll holder was amusing although I could see that coming given the ferocity Alan wrenched the lower hose off .I m wondering if the BBC fancy running a series on national TV of Beko 1987 s adventures in the world of the vacuums,
I do have a none clutched DC 04 with a lack of suction after changing belt , cleaning out the cyclone (properly as I don t have an air line ) so maybe my motor is a bit on the weak side . Looking at this vid I can see its very doable once I buy an electric screwdriver for speed in removing all these screws

I have a DC04 De Stijl. Lovely machine. Works just as well as late model mains Dyson.

Thanks! They are special aren't they! Were so brilliant when they came out vs an Electrolux powerstream or hoover purepower. No wonder they disrupted the market! Shame their going on to be pretty crappy nowadays really 😢

I've had 07s and 14s much like this, crack if you look at them funny.
Massive pain for actual collectable stuff and customer machines alike. Wonder how so many other companies managed to get it right?

Their not aging well for sure 😢 I'd go for a Malaysia model nowadays if it was to actually use...

Hi there! I was wondering, did you manage to glue those pieces back that hold the brush roll in place? I have this model, love it, my aunty gave it to me but, after a while it stopped picking up as well so I asked my dad if he'd fit a new belt for me (he's a t.v. engineer, not a vaccum engineer 🙈) we didn't realize that you need to take the clutch out, however, that wasn't a problem. As dad was taking screws out we had the exact same accident you had and those bits of plastic broke off. Just wondering, would it be worth my while taking it into our local vaccum repair guy with those bits of plastic broken off? Great video, wish you were closer to where we live ☺

They do sometimes glue back on, but it's not 100% successful. Any used housings on ebay cheap? That might be a better way to repair it

Hold on, so he wanted the motor replacing but was reluctant to spend the money on a new motor.
Sorry but £20 for a new spinny whoosh unit is a lot cheaper than buying a new vaccy.
    Some folks eh!
