My opinion. I live in Taiwan. I’ve driven that road twice recently. What people don’t realize is that there are possibly more than 20 traffic tunnels along that road. Some of these tunnels are more than 10km long. Most are not short distance tunnels. In most tunnels there are an intercom system so they can communicate with those inside of the tunnel. These tunnels are designed for emergencies and to get trapped people out. I think these tunnels saved 100s of lives that time of the day. The Taiwanese culture is a cooperative hive culture. They are proactive, smart and hard working. I have a lot of respect for the discipline I’ve witnessed being part of their world for many years.

The people who produced this movie are aware of what is coming and already have bunkers filled with supplies in the State of Colorado in anticipation of this massive worldwide geological event.

The Taipei 101 building has 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. Every eight floors is a structural unit, which are connected to each other and stacked layer by layer to form the whole. The Taipei 101 foundation construction project lasted a total of 15 months, with 700,000 tons of soil dug out. The foundation piles were composed of 382 reinforced concrete piles and were dug 80 meters into the ground. Because of its large and deep foundation, Taipei 101 is as stable as a giant aircraft carrier sunk 80 meters into the ground and is not afraid of earthquake shaking. It is a miracle that Taiwan's superb construction technology can build such strong buildings in earthquake-prone Taiwan. TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturing plant, has its huge semiconductor manufacturing plants built using rigorous and earthquake-resistant technology. Therefore, this strong earthquake in Taiwan barely caused any damage to TSMC's sophisticated and expensive semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The resumption rate exceeded 80% the next day, making the world no longer worried about semiconductor supply shortages.
Taiwan's building regulations stipulate that every building must be designed with a strong air defense shelter basement. Taiwan was able to withstand this 7.4-magnitude earthquake. The energy it released was as powerful as 32 atomic bombs. Only 10 people died in Taiwan, nearly a thousand were injured, and only two buildings collapsed. If China attacks Taiwan and launches countless missiles, Taiwan's buildings are strong and will not be afraid of China's missile attacks.

Seismic coefficient, also known as earthquake-resistant coefficient, refers to the horizontal acceleration coefficient in earthquake zones. It is the estimated maximum ground acceleration value (G: gravitational acceleration) that may occur in a region during an earthquake. 0.25G to 0.4G is considered a strong earthquake of magnitude 6, while above 0.4G is a major earthquake of magnitude 7.
After the 921 Great Earthquake in Taiwan in 1999, the government made nationwide amendments to the "Earthquake-resistant Design Code for Buildings" and the "Concrete Structure Design Code". The "design seismic force" regulations were changed from "moderate earthquake zone" to "strong earthquake zone" for all areas except Taipei and Kaohsiung. The design seismic force was also adjusted from 0.23G to 0.33G. Since 2003, all buildings with building permits issued by the Taiwanese government can withstand a magnitude 6 strong earthquake.
Since 2006, for buildings with building permits issued after 2006, excellent construction companies have deliberately improve the earthquake resistance coefficient to 0.4G, which means that their buildings can withstand a magnitude 7 earthquake.
In addition, the use of steel is a basic element of earthquake resistance. The steel used in high-rise buildings constructed in Taiwan in recent decades is new steel, and no processed scrap steel is used to ensure earthquake resistance.

Indeed, it was a 7.4 so quite different. But Taiwan is designed and engineered to handle these quakes, unfortunately it is very difficult to prevent land slides. The buildings in Turkey/Syria are terrible design and prone to complete collapse which is how so many people died.
