Someone else had the 1st/3rd gear problem before. If they are used to practicing with a 5 gear car that had the reverse on the bottom right, when they see the R at the top left I don't think they realize the gearstick has a "button" to go to R and assume 1 is R and 3 is 1. Sometimes as a learner driver such small things can throw you off! When i had my test years ago it started chucking it down with rain midtest, having done all my lessons in good weather on the day time the right "stick" was something I was explained about and never really used. I think I turned the lights on and off several times before getting the wipers on so I can kinda relate.
on my golf, R is up and left but you push down the gearstick lol, i prefer it to a lever but it might confuse people as they might not realise its down
@@yeety1208Yeah, a fair amount of cars have it that way with "some way" to get there (lever, switch, push down whatever), BUT if you are a learner driver and you have never experienced those the natural response is "I need to be careful not to accidentally push too far left and shift into reverse!"
He does have great clutch control, driving of in 3rd. Gear control could be improved.
Gears are the easiest part of driving, but the clutch control is a bit challenging to master and it's something he needs to work on.
This was painful. How many times did Pin touch his beard? I think there should be a beardometer for situations like this, because this was too much.

For me the best way to check if the car is on is a quick dab of the gas in neutral. If the odometer moves it's on.
Some cars dont have the rpm dial in which case unlucky 😂😂
At the end there we will be turning left. lol if we ever get there😂

he'll get there in the end. just needs plenty of practice. i haven't passed my test yet and watching these videos is making me just as anxious- motorcycles aren't like cars at all, so i can only imagine what i'd feel in his position

Being used to change gears with my right hand ( in a left hand drive) it feels very weird that you have to push it away from you to put it in first.
