    I don't care if you make another 100 sanding videos. I will watch all of them and thumbs up every video. Because you deserve it with all the hard work you put into your projects and channel

    Trev I think you SORELY underestimate how interesting these videos are, period. I'd bet 90+ percent of your viewers don't care that they are sanding vids. Just take your time kid, you'll get there and we'll enjoy the ride with you.

      I love all the nitty-gritty details all of the talking all of the explaining all the showing of stuff other people call it boring episodes but for me those details are awesome. I'm sick and tired of searching for restoration videos where people buy cars that are like halfway to being restored and condense the whole damn thing down into like 15 minutes. This series is the best I found on RUclips where it's long like crazy shows every bit of the process. If somebody else knows of a series like this and car restoration I would really love you forever because I could watch more good material. Please if anybody has any other videos they know of that is like this one reply

      teamEP789 I kinda thought we were above sexist comments, be creative, like fuck obviously it's a girl and girl jokes are not clever.
      Speaking of, why are you lying about apprenticing at a paint shop? Like this dude doesn't even paint that often, like total weird lie begging for likes in the comments

  • @joshhowe9396

    And the weird spots you cant explain are either chemical pop where base or clear solvents havent dissipated fully before next coat or its silicone contamination. Look at the compound you buffed with to see if it says body shop safe bc most buff compounds contain silicates

    The red looks amazing, don't give up ! All that sanding does suck and won't be easy, but It will be worth the work in the end, stick with the same red, sand it and re spray it.

    You put in all that work man you deserve to have a perfect Supra, repaint it until you’re happy and you won’t regret it when you have the car of your dreams. Ask someone to use there booth or wet the floors. And forget what the RUclips audience wants it’s your car and you’re putting in the sweat. I’ll keep watching all the sanding videos and I’m sure everyone else will to. Because we’re all here to see someone finish a Supra the right way. Keep up the good work man

    I know nothing about painting but before you paint again find out whats causing all the dust/dirt in the booth. Every panel has stuff in it, that shouldn't happen in a spray booth afaik.

  • @purplehills56
    @purplehills56 7 лет назад +52

    You spent all this time on the supra to get it just right. Just sand the whole car and spray it all over again properly in the booth. If you change this color I will be preety bummed especially enduring all that primer painting expecting an outcome of the candy red and then for you to just change the whole color scheme.

  • @cristianbalboa7

    Every time you do bodywork on the supra, I watch and I learn from you’re experience, remember the supra is a project car, so it will take some time for perfection but good job man!

  • @TheRocky345
    @TheRocky345 7 лет назад

    Don't get discouraged Trevor! I see you put so much work into this car.. I don't care how many more sanding videos or primer videos I watch.. every one of your uploads are great! And it will be so worthwhile to both you and your viewers when it's done and it looks the way you envisioned it. But remember at the end of the day your building the supra for you. Do whatever makes you happy. If your happy then were happy. Keep up the great work. You have a lifetime subscriber here for sure.

    Are you building the car for yourself or for youtube video's. That's what you need to decide to be happy with the paint job. It's much better than b is for build has ever done and it will look really good all buffed up anyways. If you stare at a car to long you will only see the flaws.

  • @yoshiko130
    @yoshiko130 7 лет назад +4

    The paint booth has a lower ceiling so the bugs are closer to your Supra than your garage which has really high ceilings where the bugs will hang out. I would suggest doing the rest of the work in your shop. Also with all this time and money invested into this car, I would recommend applying clear bra to the entire front end (Bumper/Full Hood/Full Fenders) & maybe rear rocker panel for high impact areas for high speed runs etc.

    If you do use a plastic wrap on the floor I suggest using those hospital shoe covers to help attract the lint/dust that lands on the floor due to the static electricity you'll be creating by walking back and forth. It'll cling to your fabric booties vs kicking back up into your paint. No booth, all your other paint jobs came out pretty clean, the overspray will just disperse to the rest of your shop since its so big & you dont have to worry about dust being kicked back, compared to that small paint booth.

  • @redneckman454

    One thing I always recommend to people when wet sanding is that they use 2 buckets of water. One is used to drop the heavys and the other is to rinse it off again. This will help ensure your not getting old material in your sand paper.

      Strange vid, one guy evidently pissed about the dirt on the paint, with the other guy filming seemingly not helping with his comments either. It happens but how so much contaminants ended up in/on the paint when it was sprayed in a booth is hard to fathom if normal processes are adhered to properly .

  • @Ed_Garage
    @Ed_Garage 7 лет назад +1

    You should bring all the materials with you in the booth and set up a mixing table. Once you start painting stay inside the booth and don't open the doors until your are done painting. (Actually a few minutes after your done). This will help cut down on the dirt coming in every time you open the door.

  • @samsungskater

    Cheap paint booth trick since you have the shop space. get a bunch of duct tape and painters plastic. build a pvc frame like a carport big enough to walk around the car comfortably inside, tape the plastic around the frame, lay a bunch across the floor, tape it down, pull car in, spray, let it set, then tear it all down once done, and you'll have the pvc for later. it's a bit tedious, but worth it if going for flawless paint. Otherwise, for what it is, I personally think you did an incredible job for your first time laying
    a candy.

  • @RealBearFace
    @RealBearFace 7 лет назад

    I think candy jobs are always difficult. But you're putting so much time and effort in this so don't feel bad that you want it to be perfect. If the problem is the booth, you might want to find a new one

If your going repaint I think black on a bronze wheel always looks amazing, maybe and a hint of bronze flake in the paint.

    painting in the winter is the best option if you are doing it without a booth, the cold air keeps dust down and bugs away. the only issue ive found is heat to dry the base and clear, i ran a propane blower and it kicked up a whole shitload of crap from the floor, i had the same issue so i sanded and resprayed and let it dry for a week. it came out great "shop paint great." i cut it with a medium wax and thats it. maybe i have lower expectations tho. ;] good luck

    I believe the best way to wet sand before a polish, is to sand in one direction, not back and forth. Like start at one edge, and pull to the other edge. I could be wrong, but it works great for me.

    I think it looks fucking awesome. I'm glad you went with the red. Also build a booth either out of PCV pipe or 2x4's..hang some plastic on the frame..buy some cheap box fans and filters for a downdraft...wet the floor and let her rip!

    You 100% should have at least a reasonable booth in your shop. You do enough paint work, and your paint work is good enough, that I think it would be worth it to you. Get a nice paint station, good air supply, and a mid range booth. If you want to save shop space, you can get a booth that collapses. I have one in my shop here at work, but its MASSIVE. You could fit a couple RV"s in it, and it rides on tracks haha. Nothing that big, but you get the idea. I do enjoy seeing you paint stuff in the middle of your shop though, its closer to what Ill be doing when I eventually paint my car. So it gives me hope! haha.

    I've done similar projects to this with very mixed results but I would suggest not making a booth because you'll end up needing a lot of ventilation to avoid blushing. The ventilation will stir up dust leading to the same problem you have now. Every time I've put in the extra time and effort to make a booth, it hasn't been worth the effort. It either comes out the same, or worse. Putting plastic on the floor will be a pain because it will stick to your feet. My best results have been with a wet floor and draping everything in the shop in plastic. Not only does that protect your stuff but it avoids dust being kicked up off of everything.

    Sand it all with the 800, then do two coats of filler primer, smooth and sand that, and THEN do the red base/clear. That color looks awesome man, it just needs a little bit more between the body and the color. You'll be happy you did the primer and you wont have any pits dings, plus if you make some mistakes while spraying, you'll be less likely to notice.
