I absolutely love your videos! I was fortunately blessed by the algorithm when I was recommended your psp video and I've taken a liking to your channel ever since. I really enjoy these shorter videos. It's really refreshing to see these compared to all 40 minute to hour long videos I'm recommended daily. Your videos are also fun to watch whenever I have a little break. You're quickly becoming one of my favorite channels to watch and I simply can't wait for more!
Also expect some fanart from me whenever I have time to draw. ;)

Gameboy colour, advanced and SP special models are an absolute minefield nowadays unfortunately.
Reproduction shells and even reproduction packaging are now extremely accessible.
While that shouldn't be a big issue in and of itself, it makes finding a genuine original a lot harder compared to special edition 2/3/DS/PSP/Vita and home consoles for which aftermarket shells are not readily available.
The SP reproductions are absolutely rampant because both shells and reproduction packaging are easy to get due to the fairly ordinary cardboard the SP came in.
Pikachu, Groudon, Kyogre, SpongeBob and SFC are commonly ripped off - which again would be fine if you knew you were buying a copy, but means it's hard to find genuine originals, especially when you can't inspect in person.
Gameboy colour and advance reproduction packaging does exist but is harder to do due to the thicker cardboard with the glossy printing, but reproduction shells and screen lenses of the Pokemon special editions have been getting around for a few years now and are good enough that it's hard to tell without an original and a repro in front of you. I've also seen reproduction shells for the special colourway Gameboy advance models.
I'm not aware of repros of the hello kitty stuff though so that's a plus, but if there is a market for it they'll come for sure.
I've not seen reproduction special edition shells or packaging for Dreamcast or PS2 though, so that should help!
The pink PS2 is particularly time consuming to reproduce as you need to carefully mask and paint the controller ports or injection mould and pin copies, as well as produce the textured pink aftermarket shell.
Buying the pink PS2 and hello kitty Dreamcast full sets would significantly reduce the likelihood of getting a reproduction though as the effort to reproduce the peripherals would be very significant.
Reproduction boxes do exist for PS2 and Dreamcast standard editions though and I often see them in full sets for sale.

Ex semi-professional photographer here and huge gear geek, I know that some stuff are meant to be bought more as collectibles and less for their utility, but the samsung mv900f is really just an overpriced compact camera.
The value of the compact cameras is their older sensors and their low quality. The older CCD sensors because they have more vivid colours (much closer to actual negative films) at the cost of speed and image quality on higher iso. Because of that the images a lot of the times felt different and had a "vibe". Due to the hype and the lack of knowledge of people who like photography many compact cameras that do not really have anything special but are from known brands have skyrocketed.
The only reason I mention this is because you mentioned that part of the reason you wanted it is the vibes of the images and it might be helpful.

    • @The_Music_Engineer
      @The_Music_Engineer 11 дней назад

what do you recommend then, I’m searching for that kind of vibe but with a camera that won’t cost me my leg.

    • @gaarakabuto1
      @gaarakabuto1 11 дней назад

@The_Music_Engineer go on your market place or graigslist, or whatever else market you have in your country search for compact cameras and then Google for each model you find within your price range, what you need is a CCD sensor and the pixel count for the most part is "the higher the better", 10-12 MP is ideal but even 6 is usable.
I also highly suggest to always Google the model and add "sample pictures" from lomo to Flickr you always get some samples.
At the end of the day no compact camera was made to be used professionally and most of them were just mass produced by mitch matching components together.
Some brands i can suggest is Fuji, Olympus and Canon but a brand means nothing on the entry level compact cameras. For the high end i suggest Ricoh. When it comes to CMOS sensors, megapixel counts much more, 16 is the absolute minimum and 24 a decent MP count.

Solid video. Always love Sonic Unleashed music in the background. Always gives off a cozy vibe.

This is a respectable list of holy grails, since it all belongs in museums(or a display case at least, lol). There are so many console variations out there, it boggles my mind, especially for Nintendo systems. I've only got one thing on my list that I would consider a "holy grail," and that's the N3DSXL SNES edition(alternatively the Super Famicom edition, they're both really nice). I grew up playing a lot of SNES, my family had retro consoles before they were cool, and the SNES is still my favorite. I'm also a huge fan of the 3DS line, so, it's basically the perfect collector's item for me. Not cheap though, usually about double what I paid for my regular N3DSXL.

I really enjoy your Videos and share the love for old electronics. My absolute Holy Grails would be the IBM ThinkPad 701 it is an super cool Laptop, because it´s Keyboard "folds" outwards when you open it. The Idea was that you could have an super small Laptop with an full sized Keyboard. Sadly the broken ones cost around 400-500 bucks (not even considering the working ones for upwards of a 1300 bucks.)
    2. The crisis core PSP console is another one i would love to own, because the PSP has a special place in my heart and i love Final Fantasy.
    3. I am super nostalgic for the 3ds lineup and absolutly adore the Majora's Mask Edition for the 3ds XL.
    4. Pretty much all of the Japan exclusive special editions of the Ps Vita. (The most underrated gaming console ever in my opinion)
One of my favorite things i already own is the Zelda Edition of the Gameboy Advance SP with an copy of minish cap, it might not be crazy rare but i just really love the console and the game.
Honestly there is an never ending list to be typed out here. I also love Digicams and have been using my Casio Exilim-Z800 every time i want to make photos while traveling. It came out in 2010 so it might not really fit in the retro theme but i love it and want to get my hands on a bunch of other Cams from that time period.

While pink isn’t really my color of choice, I wholeheartedly agree with wanting to own a PS2.
I’ve actually got a small box full of old PS2 games sitting in my room right now; Just haven’t been able to play them because at some point, I lost my PS2 (along with components) in the shuffle of moving stuff around the house.
(If I could buy a good-condition PS2 for cheap, that’d be awesome. But as is…I may have to sell my games and save the cash for more important stuff.)
…In any case, this was a fun video. Looking forward to seeing more retro/old tech-themed stuff from you in the future. ^^

Wanting the cute consoles is SUCH a mood, I didn't get a choice in what color my PS2 was since I got it before they started releasing fun colorways, but I absolutely have the ACNH themed Switch because it was cuter than the other options. Back in the day when i was a kid i had a Gameboy Color GBC the Purple version and a PSP the Matte Black slim version and a PSone (Europeran Version). most of them i kept but yeah due to my destroying tendencies most of them i broke it but my cousins gave me most of them back and friends of mine, so i have a GBC and PSone again and my first childhood laptop which was the Dell XPS M1330 and a Digicam from 2007 (Sony DSC-T77) and also a Nokia N70 and Sony Ericsson K800i. at 10 years old at that time i was kinda spoiled getting these gadgets second hand but yeah broke them after a year or so so yeah. i had childhood regrets as well, nice detailed video YewfNet on your retro tech collection. in the future i might get more of my old stuff back once i get a job since i just graduated college and been using my left over allowance to buy back the lost collection i broke back then.

The clear technology aesthetic is pure nostalgia
I remember back in the day when I was in elementary school, the computer lab was filled with those big transparent Mac computers
My cousin also had a transparent purple N64 that we used to play Smash Bros and Mario Kart when I visited my aunt's house
I used to have a purple GBA when I was younger, but it's now forever lost...
Recently, like around 2-3 years ago, I bought myself a transparent green N64, and then some games I did play during my childhood like Smash Bros, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and a few others just so I can re-live my childhood...
Back then, it was just simpler times...
I wish you luck on getting that pink Hello Kitty Dreamcast, it looks pretty rad

I collect (and use!) pink handhelds and controllers specifically. I have a couple of home consoles as well, but they're not my focus. I'd be happy to find a good deal on the Hello Kitty Dreamcast full set, or the Pink PS2 slim, but they are indeed pretty expensive.
I think the most expensive item on my list is the "Hot Summer Peach" Nintendo DS. They exist, but only like 200 were made as contest prizes, so it's not likely to ever happen unless I win the lottery.

Normally I lean more to the "cyber-blue" aesthetic, but I love your simple passion for cute stuff. Plus, you know some very interesting tech (that Samsung camera was very intriguing), so it'll be fun to see your journey and learn new stuff.
As for my Holy Grails, they're simple, yet I'm broke, so they feel out of reach:
    3) A Star Wars Xbox 360, just for kicks and giggles
    2) A solid CRT, so that my retro consoles look better (my LCD TV has an "Over Scan" mode that actually is somewhat tolerable compared to other displays, but a CRT would be better
    1) A Vita to hack. It's the only handheld I really want that I don't have. I can emulate a PSP. Vita3K is slow going (though those devs are awesome), and the form factor of the Vita would be a perfect fit for certain situations that my Deck.

Amazing video! I'm so happy that my algorithm recommended me your videos, because they're super cool and enjoyable.
And also I think the main reason for why are all pink consoles and all pink colored tech more expensive is, because they were made in smaller volumes, mainly because not that many people would buy them (or at least not as much if it would be black or blue etc.) and so they're rarer and more expensive.

The growth on this channel and your brand has been insane. The Rebrand paid off big time. If this continues maybe you can make enough to justify buying and making videos with these retro gadgets.

Valid list, not what id put but these are all good choices, Im planning on grabbing a hello kitty GBC with a Japanese proxy service as well as a gameboy camera, then getting an IPS screen to put in it, and some GBA SPs for another project, likely IPS screens in the future but for the time being I want to wire them up to all be controlled by a snes controller
as for special editions, I have a good amount of the ones I really like, I got a CIB palkia and dialga ds lite CIB in rough shape with a broken screen for $300 CAD last year and Im really happy with it. I also got a triforce DS lite with a broken hinge in a set of 4 broken ds lites for $100 2 years ago. absolutely love them, I like to think of the imperfections as not so much a bad thing as they can tell a story of a kid who really loved it in the past and i think thats beautiful in its own way

Damn I need to add some of these to my retro shopping list. The pink ps2s were definitely off my radar but they look super cute! I can't wait to see more retro content.

Ah, watching the pink camera and the pink PS2 made me remember I had a Pink metallic color GameBoy Micro. Definitely pink color deserves more popularity because it fits very well on these tech :3
Also, I had no idea about that GBC Sakura CardCaptor console💜.
    Excellent video Yewf, as always👌

Bro, the Dreamcast is doable. If your will to skip a few meals you might be able to get it mid or early 2025 depending on budget. Have a happy new year and can’t wait to see more.

Over the years I've collected a lot of retro consoles, usually ones listed as "broken", "as-is", "junk" and then go about fixing them up. This feeds into my electrical engineering hobby so it's something that can feed double dopamine for me lol. I think my one holy grail is my Pikachu Pichu Gold/Silver Gameboy Color, I wanted that Gameboy so much as a kid and now I own multiples of it 😅
For fully boxed Japanese consoles I recommend buying through a proxy service like Buyee or Sendico! I personally have used Buyee for years now and you can sometimes snag some really good deals on Mercari Japan! I got a fully boxed model 1 Sega Mega Drive and Sega CD with some games for about $120 shipped! Sure, it takes a little while to get things to the proxy warehouse and then over here in North America but it's a great option that can help avoid the high ebay prices!

Stopppp this video makes me wanna get some more old tech, I literally just bought a bunch of VHS tapes and a PSP off eBay as an impulse buy, my wallet is hurt enough 😢
Also I use one of those old digicams on a daily basis and yesss 100% agree I prefer taking pics on it then using my phone it’s so nice and makes me like the photo better cuz I need an another separate device to take it

There's nothing wrong with retro stuff. I honestly prefer retro stuff over newer stuff as a whole, because a lot of newer stuff is just flat out worthless and awful. I have been collecting DVD's and Blu-ray's for old films, TV shows & games, because they are just more fun over all. Heck, I recently played Ratchet & Clank Going Commando on my PS3 and I had a blast. And last night I watched Batman The Animated Series & Cowboy Bebop from my DVD collection. Retro stuff is fun and timeless.

I have a similar quest to find the clear green original Xbox that came out with one of the Halo games. Nice ones are expensive enough that I can't bring myself to buy one but I have fond memories of playing Halo at my neighbor's house on his and the clear green controller was the "good" one

I bought my pink PS2 slim in 2014 for 40€. It didn't have the box but it came with two pink DS2 controllers and a pink memory stick.

I'm born on 08 so most of these consoles are older than me. But I remember when I was little I used to play on this Black and Crimson Ds Lite, before my brother snapped it in half.. I know It's not anything special or limited but I just really like the minimalistic design of the crimson red on the top cover and the rest of the device being matte black. ❤🖤

Black or white I'd imagine to be the most expensive for things, but pink is usually high up there with such a high demand of people loving to dedicate their spaces to pink and/or pastels. I'm also one of those people, haha

I've got quite a bit of old technology that I collect(game consoles, old phones, old computers, etc.), and it's honestly just so cool seeing how technology has evolved over time
Also, that pink msi netbook looks *so* cute! I wanna get one now hehe

My little brother just got me a Dreamcast for Christmas. Used, works like a champ after adjusting the laser slightly. Didn't even have to take it apart for that! I never had one, so this is pretty darned special. And this has a 1 on the bottom, which means..... well, sailors will know. I beat Sonic's campaign in an actual copy of Sonic Adventure 1 yesterday, and there was even a disk with the Sonic Adventure 2 demo, with Japanese voices and dialog, Sonic's original shoes, and an instrumental version of City Escape. It's so cool >.

I'm lucky enough to have most of my old consoles around and in working condition , primary my family's ps2 which is older than me and is incredibly dusty yet it still works completely fine after well over two decades of use.
