Hello Hopfenpflanzerverban, dear sir, all my life I dreamed of owning a farm, a hop farm that is and when I found out about Hallertau, I thought this is it, the only way to describe the region of Hallertau is "paradise", at least this is my personal opinion, I live in the UK now, but I would like to owned a piece of land in this area and grow hops, maybe you can help me and give me any advise or step by step what I need to do to make my dream come true, thank you very much.
discusctx No, you trim all the way down to the roots and leave them over the winter and when it comes to spring the roots "spring" back to life and they grow again. See what I did there xD
+Cian “CianSta” Black - So hops won't grow year round even if the conditions were artificially met? Like for instance, growing hops in a greenhouse where temps are met for spring like conditions.
line peon No, its the perennial plant nature. They would wither and collapse after flowering because it is in sync with the light cycle and it needs a certain 12 hours of light and dark to mimic the shorter days coming into winter. It then flowers and withers back to its roots to protect itself until spring.
