So sorry to hear about the accident that your family was in and glad they are healing. As an exAmusment park employee what you are doing is really fascinating to me. Keep up the great work Pete and thanks for keeping these old rides running and out of the scrapers hands.
Thanks for following along!
Just discovered your channel and restoration project and though several months later I hope your family is far along the journey to completely recovery. There’s nothing more important in life than our health and well being. Wishing you and your family the best.
Thank you so much! Everybody has recovered pretty well.
These project videos on the restoration are the most interesting you tube videos I’ve ever seen.
I have been always impressed with your work and skill. If you get this mess repaired I will really be impressed, good luck.
Prayers to you and your family.
Prayers for family. Family and wellbeing should come first. Will be here
Thank you very much, it is appreciated.
Needed a steering wheel for copies,
acquires it with another carnival ride.
These videos are fun to watch.
I hope your family is healing well. That other carnival ride looks like a fun one.
Fingers crossed they all seem to be recovering well.
Glad your family is healing and doing well Pete! I think your plan to work on two projects is a good way to go. In restorations, there are always lull periods on a project as you wait for supplies, glue dry times, etc.... I, have to do this often, and, from a RUclips creators perspective (which doubles the time it takes to do any project :) it has helped me be more consistent with the uploads (it also give you and the viewer a break). I really enjoy your work and your channel Pete.
Thanks Bill I appreciate the support. Hope we get a chance to have a sit down this summer and chat a bit more about what it is we do.
@@PeteRondeau Lets talk sometime.
Love and hugs to the youngsters.
Sorry for your pains.
Hang in there, brother!
Thanks Tom. Saw you briefly appear on the carpet baggers video coverage of transworld. Hope you had a good show!
Great update and I hope the family is now well, healed and healthy!...I am an old carnie from the 80's and I am thoroughly enjoying your amusement ride restoration projects! I think the second ride you announced today was a great project to start slowly and along with the first ride to keep things going! I agree with the previous person that mentioned the aluminum diamond plate would be a great addition if it wasn't for the high cost. That second ride did remind me of the old Hampton Umbrella rides that still exist today! Great Job and Keep up the Great work!
Its been a long few months but the family is all back to work. Still some issues that are just going to take time. Thank you for your thoughts. Diamond plate is probably the best long term solution but it is a bit pricey. Thanks for watching!
I love the old small carnival rides cant wait to see more of them in the future
Thanks for watching!
I will remember them in prayer. I love your videos
Thank you so much!
Glad your family is okay. I love the new ride. New to us, anyway.
Thank you so much.
I like paint stripping. And so glad everyone is on the mend!
🙏🏻🙏🏻 I hope they all better I hope they all feel good
Everyone is doing well. Thanks for your thoughts!
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see more!
Thank you!!
Late seeing this (Only pretty recently found this channel after those ride setup videos) but hope your family's recovery went well. And I'm probably late in regards to what the plan is for these projects but an idea of what possibly could be done is make the Rocket as original as possible in the restoration and this Combo could possibly be going the route of more modernized and upgraded from the original based on how damaged the lighting already is and how the platform is so worn down, it seems like it could be interesting going for the best of both worlds route on the two projects.
everyone is pretty much back to normal, thanks. That is along the lines of what I'm thinking too. Rocket will definitely be traditional. On the combo I especially want to try to restore the lights on the vehicles that were all removed at some point. I may try to replicate the old fixtures, but with new internals. And do something different with the decking.. Thanks for watching!
And I thought I was crazy. Lol! Another ride? Can't wait to see this one started!
LOL, we are going to do this one a bit different. On the last ride we just started ripping it apart, This one I am going to attempt to set up in its current state so that I can get a complete before and after picture rather than just a jumble of parts.
i was on fun fair rides we use checka plate for the floor bot wood
I've looked into it, it's really expensive right now but not out of the question. may still use it. Thanks for watching!
well pete sorry to here about your family hope they get well fast. I too have been waiting for your new videos. I also bought a new ride but mine is a little bit more than i can chew, but chewing it down slowly. when you do the steering wheels let me know I would be interested in 10-12 ? the new ride looks nice just like the stuff i buy. today i'm building train track. The fiberglass tubs are in great shape. cleaning them up use a palm sander w/220 grit. I'm changing my lights to led just for cost reasons also there 24 volt and co. prices are to high. the flooring /sides the newer ones (hampton rides) are aluminum much lighter than wood or steel. i also am building s jib crane to remove the larger toys. thanks steve
glad to hear you are still working on your projects! I'd love to go with aluminum diamond plate but everything is so expensive right now. I know the ride originally had a wooden deck made out of individual wood planks. I may try something like that just for the vintage look.
@@PeteRondeau this would also make for a vintage sound as the cars rolled around.
@@dannyschell1095 that is an excellent point that I had not even considered! Thanks!
Taking care of your family is more important then a youtube video. We'll still be here when you're able to make more vids.
Thanks so much, fortunately they are all on the mend and I've already had some folks reach out to offer help with some of the heavy lifting so I am feeling pretty good about all this.
all our rides use cheker plate we dont use wood on all rides im in the uk
The fiber glass cars were most likely done in colorized gel coat with metal flake while in the molds. All of which is easily reapplied through a spray gun and is very durable with today’s UV protection additives. They should not be painted IMHO.
We've been sanding one. its a clear coat, a metal flake paint, body filler, white gel coat, then fiberglass.
Of course he needed another carnival ride. Wat else? :-)
Right? doesn't everyone? LOL
Awesome video I just happened to stumble on your channel do you happen to have an email I can send you some carnival info majestic midways is in your area they might be able to help with some of your stuff if need be I hope your family is doing well
