Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does the “X” mean Vergil is banned? He is probably the best solo character in the game (Zero being best overall, but not as good an anchor). If Vergil is banned, is it just to prevent people picking him only for level 3 X? MarlinPie did one of these on a recent stream. Vergil wasn’t banned, and he had more tiers with a total of 14 points per team.
Virgil is 10 points. So, yes he's banned. Virgil is by far the best character in umvc3 in any position, xfactor, solo or teams. I hate him so much and I'm glad he's not here. Half of online and tournaments are virgil'. All my friends use him and when I used to play locals most of them used him. I wish he was banned for main event too.
@@ThexArtz It's between Zero, Vergil, and Morrigan for top 3 in most people's opinion I would think. I personally think they're pretty much equal and excel in different ways. Vergil is usual considered best by a lot of people because his execution/loops are easier to do than Zero's, and he's just so commonly played anywhere on any team.

I see Doom at a 6 while Magneto’s at a 5 as well when I feel like they should be on the same level. But then I look at how insane Doom’s assists and how his assists covers like 99% of all team gaps while Mag mainly has beam assist. I guess versatility is a really big factor on the list, and why Morg being as busted as she is, isn’t banned like Vergil bc she’s mainly relegated to pure zoning. And putting her at 6 hampers that a decent amount. Like your assists are Nemesis Arthur? At the same time Doom’s there as just THE best assister in the game, so it doesn’t matter you’re Phoenix Wright/She-Hulk. You got any Doom assist you need.
How is Frank West a 4?! I feel like if characters that regularly see play in top 8s are a 4, like Hulk, Sentinel, Wolverine, Modok, Deadpool, the saying that Frank West is as good as them, then you peeps are not comparing things very well. Giving Shuma gorath a 3, and Frank West a 4 seems like a conspiracy xD switch those two characters up!
She hulk isn't a good character in umvc3. Also Frank's lol ups have to be taken into account at lvl 4 or higher he is a legit top tier character in normal play.

Even tho this list doesn't allow you to play the optimal point characters the fact that you could still come back with it makes it still potent in this style of tournament and doesn't exactly inspire people to think outside of the box. I think most Ratio lists low key want to have their cake and eat it too by allowing certain popular shells to be played (Vergil may be banned in this list, but teams with Vergil aren't the only popular shells). If you have Frank at 5 then you couldn't take advantage of the popular Frank/Dante shell and would instead have to play more unconventionally if you wanted to use him which I think is the point of Ratio tournaments
The REAL way the ratio tourney should work is ALLOW Virgil but the winner of the tourney is NOT the person who wins most. It's the person who has the HIGHEST SCORE with the lowest point team! You want to scrub it out and have XF Virgil get cheap wins? Fine. But you can only use 8 pointers like Doom or Vergil 3 times. But of you get mad wins with Grider Arthur and Felicia. You win the grand prize!

1 is suitable because of jsut how much effort you need to put in to make him work, but you CAN make him work in the right hands and team. Phoenix is physically pretty fragile (Not so much as Phoenix from X-men to clarify, but he's down there) and he requires an ENORMOUS amount of patience to get the right evidence, THEN you have to actually hit the objection to get to turnabout mode AND THEN you need at least three bars for his super that is likely to kill (depends on the evidence). He takes so much work to pull off and I have respect for anyone who can play him well and get kills.
I love this type of tournament. Gives time for other characters to shine. But best of all, no virgil.
