This was a great game to attend, and all the Syracuse players should be congratulated for playing such an intense game. Army fans know the disappointment of losing by one goal, especially last year missing the final four by one. However, as an Army parent I must express my disappointment in the Syracuse administration, specifically the AD and Coaches. Before the game a lake effect storm with weather alerts occurred, with 60 mph gusts, wind chill in single digits and 3-7 inches of snow. After the game the Syracuse administration had the Army program meet their families outside by the buses. Despite the request from the Army families to meet the players indoors, the Syracuse staff refused and dismissed the Army Players, Coaches and families into the storm. With such a dynasty program and facility like the dome, was this Syracuse's best? Is this how you treat the men who will serve and sacrifice for our country? The Syracuse AD and Coaches should be ashamed of themselves. I am confident if Syracuse ever decides to play at Army, they will be treated with respect and honor before, during and after the game. There are only 2 conclusions one can make of the Syracuse administrations decision; either the Syracuse staff is so grossly incompetent or they are outright malicious. I hope the Syracuse staff reads this post and reflects how bad the optics look for such a legacy program such as Syracuse. I am certain Coach Gait would agree, this action represented the entire Syracuse program poorly, and that is unfair to the Syracuse players who fought a tough game. I believe in redemption, and will hope a change occurs in the future regarding the "What, How and Why" of how Syracuse Lacrosse treats their opponents after the game, especially America's Team.
Sorry to hear that you received such poor treatment from the hosts and it's unacceptable. It's hard NOT to also support the service academy teams bc, as you know, those student athletes will be serving our country after graduation. How can you not respect that? Hope the Golden Knights go far come tournament time and we wish you & your family all the best Maybe posting your experience on R e d d i t will get more exposure and maybe acknowledgment for the poor behavior?
The Box Score says "Turnover by SU." The commentator said, "that one was off the ball and a turnover for the Orange." Hope that helps. cuse.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/stats/2024/army-west-point/boxscore/17117
