That Proto-Carbuncle cutscene is my favorite phase transition ever. It has no right being that cool as the first fight of the tier.

Fun fact this isn't the first time they made the carbuncle a gigantic swole monster. They did this exactly once before in Final Fantasy 5, its first appearance.

And then we got new members and I brought it up again, so now it's become a meme to say "oh hey that's the classic final fantasy confusion animation" in my group if people get afflicted with it in p6s. Love em.
I feel Woops pain as a black mage, no rez and even in P7 normal you have to move so much so it's easy to just get killed if you want any uptime. Will be fun to see how he handles the savage cause honestly I'm at a bit of a loss how to uptime the back half of that fight.
I have to admit, I am envious as hell of the guild and friends you have in this game. Also, videos are amazing! Keep it up man.

Your first P7/P8 experience was very similar to mine. 7 was a disaster, taking two separate groups and our clear being me, a PLD, being the only one alive for the last 12% or so and soloed it to the clear. 8 came around and we one-shot it. It felt so underwhelming after the crazy 7 run.
It's so good to have Jesse back.

Edit: Having now finished the video, I have not laughed this much in a long time. A fantastic group of people! And Jesse's logic behind the mechanic in floor 3 made my laugh so much it gave me hicups and I don't know why :D NEST you are awesome, keep being awesome :)

He meant Carbuncle from previous games in the series. When you would summon Carbuncle in FFVIII (and maybe a couple others, I don’t really remember), he’d cast Reflect on the entire party. So the reflect walls are a reference to that.

i have good and bad news about Jesse coming back as a tank, and both are content related (more specificly for the meme pulls) good news: Drak no longer has to worry about Jesse rescueing Drak into every AoE or rescue Corey into Drak with the TB. bad news: Drak no longer has to worry about Jesse rescueing Drak into every AoE or rescue Corey into Drak with the TB
First time I did the fight for the third boss, I didn't know how huge the hitbox was and the moment I clicked on the boss, my character immediately auto-attack and all hell broke loose. Luckily we clutch-saved the fight but I spammed the Sprint button during that whole fight.
During that, I was thinking 'Scribble Liz is going to have a hell of time when WOTT gets here...'
That 'weird' animation you saw in 6? Thats a 3d model being made to emulate classic ff attack and victory stances 'step forward swing several times, step back; step forward, arms up in victory, step back'
Fun fact: That weird animation is the old Final Fantasy Attack Animation when character models were sprites.
Love how they struggled with 7 which I found so easy but 8 was so hard for my group first time.

I just did p7n for the first time today. Knowing the mechanics is one thing. Being able to follow what the hell is happening in the middle of the fight, something completely different.

He used the instance entrance to queue and EVERY Pandaemonium fight uses it so the list is long. Most entrances will only have the one or two duties, though the Eden raid entrance list is similarly long.
