    Love your videos 🥰 A little hint with the standleyana cuttings...let them callous off then put them in a nice aroid soil mix, give it a good drink then pop it in a prop box 📦 they are a funny lot to root lol but the best success ive had over 3 years of propping them is this way, they seem to root well once the node activate, then they take off. So its just a case of keeping them in high humidity in soil and i promise Judy, they will grow in lovely and strong x

    With your calathea - I have had this happen too, also right next to a humidifier, and I actually moved it away from the humidifier a bit - what I think was happening, which I also noticed in winter from my heat pump, was that they didn't like the breeze, like it came through as a draught and they didn't like it. I was kinda sceptical and it seemed counter intuitive but it seems to have helped.

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 года назад

      Ohhhh I never thought of that! I've moved it away but I can't tell if it's doing better cos I cut off the brown bits or because I moved it haha. Might be too soon to tell lol x

    Thank you for being honest about keeping plants. I felt for you when you thought you found thrips on your plant and was relieved when you said they were springtails. I have some thrips on my Peperomias. I think they are larvae because they look like a small grain of rice. I have not seen any adult yet but their must be some. Hopefully not.

    • @crochetqueen6440
      @crochetqueen6440 3 года назад +2

      if there are larvae there will also be adults eventually. Get rid of them while you can before they set in :)

      @@crochetqueen6440 Thank you. I feel encouraged because it can be frustrating, after providing the best care one is able to provide, to find bugs on your plants.
      I sprayed them with an insecticide containing pyrethrins 0.20% it seems working. The first time there were more the 2nd time they were much less.
      Will I be able to rid my peperomias off of them? Have you fought them before?

    • @crochetqueen6440
      @crochetqueen6440 3 года назад +2

      @@rhodealexandre6583 I don't know if you will be able to or not, but just keep checking your plants, maybe when you water them, and keep your peperomia (or anything else you find) quarantined from your other plants so they can't spread, and I think you'll be well on the way.
      I've had a peperomia that I believe had scale, I chopped and propped it in the end but I only did that because it was a cheap plant, if it was a more expensive plant I would have tried harder to get rid of them. I also have one plant with spidermites at the moment that thankfully I noticed before anything else was affected and I'm treating it and have it quarantined so hopefully I get rid of them soon.
      Good luck!

    Hi Judy, happy to c u again in your new video. I need your help very seriously, thing is , about 2mths ago I repoted my 2 devil's ivy plants in a 22cm pot, now i seen the roots are already coming out from the bottom, what I need to do now, should I repot it again? Because its in a self watering pot & in the bottom tray i have to keep water all the time & roots are touching the water😔what to do now, please help me by giving some suggestions... very sorry for the long comment...thanks in advance 🤗

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 года назад +1

      Hi there! Don't apologise! :) I'm always glad people comment. If you see your plant is doing well and happy, don't worry about it. Even if you see roots coming out the bottom, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's rootbound and it likely won't be since you just repotted it. It might just be reaching for the water. :)

    I will say this from the beginning... It seem to me like you are really new to this hobby and it's nothing wrong in that... But you are really doing some things in a really bad way... You should not pull plants out like you pulled on that monstera... the pest thing looked to me a little bit staged... I think you have not seen a plant attacked by thrips or spidermites... Those crowlers are hard to spot but the damage they do is obvious ... And planting those syngoniums like that togeder in that small pot... Questionable choice... Its just an opinion don't take it as hate... No hate intended
