- The United Launch Alliance (ULA) is launching the classified USSF-51 mission, for the United States Space Force (USSF). The mission was initially planned to launch on ULAs Vulcan rocket, but the company requested a move to the Atlas V rocket. The Atlas for this mission is in the 551 configuration, meaning 5 SRBs (Solid Rocket Booster), bigger fairing, and a single upper stage engine.

Hi Alex and team NSF good luck is wonderful your program ❤
@NSF: What would be a comparable SpaceX configuration for today's Atlas 5 launch? and what the relative cost be if there is one?
Falcon Heavy with expendable center core and side booster RTLS
55:15 - Launch of USSF-51
Each Atlas V launch vehicle consists of two main stages. The first stage is powered by a single Russian RD-180 engine.
We were there! Left orlando at 4:30am then waited at the road for the beach to open at 6am! Very surreal!
I'm going to miss the 'throaty' startup of the RD180s when the Atlas is finished (2-3 to go?).
I love all the Birds in the launch replays at the end.
Ahhhhh NSF to catch up with...perfec...was working.
This US 51 didn't have any cameras? That's odd.
Atlas launch? I thought I heard they were retiring this. I'm remembering wrong.
Atlas is sold out so still some flights on the books, delta heavy is retired
There's like a dozen flights left
Never mind the Bullucks.
Has Boeing checked in thank you
I'm boycotting ULA and BO launches.
I’m sure that will stop them…
Make Pokémon real, it would progress humanity farther.
BORING!!
as a kid growing uo in the '60s, the space age was the future. what i'm seeing here seems to have changed very little in nearly 70 years. space flight was the future 60 years ago. it looks like nothing has changed.
we were shown flying cars in the jetsons. we saw jet packs at the 1968 NFL championship in LA. what happened to the high tech future we were promised?
A big waste of money
All goes in ocean 🌊
Our national security is not a waste of money and low earth orbit (or whatever orbit this was put into) is not the ocean.
How does this help world peace and global warming.?
It doesn’t. It isn’t supposed to. Does saying that help world peace and global warming? It doesn’t and never will. Weather satellites do help combat global warming. It helps us monitor the weather. Ya can’t fight what you don’t know about. It’s not good to be ignorant, but it is curable.
