The Steve Vai version is good, but, even though I've listened to this version after the Vai version, somehow I like this one a whole lot more. Maybe it's because this recording has classic rock guitar sound, even though Vai's playing is beyond excellent on the other recording.
The 2nd version is better - and I'll explain why..... This version has that "definite" classic rock" sound !! However, I like the better the 1989 remake with Steve Vai. ( Steve Vai's playing is fantastic - BUT THAT'S NOT THE REASON WHY ) ------------------------------------------------------------- In the 1989 remake, David Coverdale's voice is amazing. He pushes himself and gives a more dynamic performance. The 1989 version has stronger/kick ass singing from David Coverdale !!!
Love the bass by Neil Murray. Took me years to realise what was unique about his bass line...he sneaked in a couple of 7ths. Gave it a Jazz feel, just for a few seconds here and there. Love it x
@@jasonkaraszkiewicz1025 Different times man! I was an 80's teenaged headbanger and grew up with that version of the band. I hadn't even heard some of the original versions of this and a few of their late 70's stuff until recently and although different, they each have their own appeal, to me at least. But to each his own. Music wouldn't be exciting if every decade sounded the same!
Big - the entire USSR grew up on this. -- clandestinely - secretly from the regime, -- in 1982 in St. Petersburg where alpine skiing - turned on this song from a sound bell, - it was strong
This is a great song. I am a guitar player for 10 years, and I learned to play listening and trying to play metal and "modern hard rock" songs. But I think the early Whitesnke sound (78-84) like this is much better than what it became after 1985. Today I really like much more hard rock like this: overdriven guitar, but not fully distorted and heavy, good bass line, drums without double bass playing the entire song, and vocals without screaming all the time. In fact I became a fan of "blues rock" the last years. The songs and instument lines may be "simpler", but what matters is whether the final result is good.
I've never heard this before; how is this ignored on classic rock radio?! The guitar riff is irresistible, and the original version sounds like a late 70's Foreigner/Bad Company song to me!
Thank you. This is indeed the only version. The sound is silky smooth, tastefully Balanced and cannot be improved upon It's like you got 3/6 of Deep Purple here... and you can hear the mastery! ( o.k. maybe just a little more Bass!)
@Greg Hubbard youre right, and mr Marsden and mr Moody wrote perfect songs for the band. Add Mr Lord ,mr Paice, and mr Murray and you have a perfeckt heavy blues band
I also didn’t know the Steve Vai song was a remake. I like the feel of the rhythm guitar at the beginning here better. The vai solo blows this one out of the water. Both are great. David Coverdale is the one constant across all these lineup changes and clearly he’s both an amazing song writer and vocalist! Gigantic fan! And it becomes even more and more impressive as he continues to to do it, even with Reb beach on guitar now
I just knew it. Back in -80. I was visiting my father in Stavanger autumn 1980. 19 years old, first long trip in my "new" car. 1100 km straight from Stockholm without pauses except for number one. Well, after a few days this record was released. I couldn´t wait so I bought it for double the cost in Sweden. It is still one of my best records ever.
Class song. Line up was their best in my humble opinion. And sorry this is Mick Moody and Bernie Marsden on guitar. Read the sleeve notes haha. Great band ... they nailed blues rock on this one
This will always be the best version. What a great group of musicians.
Agree

@@bluesdoc4273 NO. This bluesy style is better.
The Best Version of Whitesnake!
The end.
R.I.P. Bernie Marsden ✝️
Laying down the Snake tracks 🎸
He was so good. Underrated guitarist! I wonder how he would of done in Deep Purple
The best blues/hard rock song of all time, especially bass line.
Yeah, man! The bass line's a killa.
A bass line that makes all the bumblebees crazy !
And don't forget you're also hearing Bernie Marsden playing The Beast as well.
Hrs man...i agreed.
Directly borrowed from thin Lizzy, Sykes got schooled by Phil lynott while coverversion got his act together
The best line up.
Classic line up and whitesnake’s finest hour
Thank you...................A1+................Tony
The bass is amazing, one of the best line ever
And davids voyce too
The first Whitesnake song I ever heard on radio back in 1980 in Los Angeles. One of their best albums.
Love the bass by Neil Murray. Took me years to realise what was unique about his bass line...he sneaked in a couple of 7ths. Gave it a Jazz feel, just for a few seconds here and there. Love it x
Wow, Your right! The bass kicks total ass in this!
The best Whitesnake crew ever!!!
I agree on that.
You're outta of your mind this weak band even makes Coverdale not want to try vocally

@@briansauer6695 I agree glad it did change cause if I had to keep listening to arena rock I'd puke i.e Peter Frampton yawn

One of my favourite songs of ever, and for me the best of Whitesnake.

Whitesnake, pre big hair, is awesome
Neil Murray one of the best melodic bass players!
Nope wrong
I LIKE WHITESNAKE I LOVE IT
Peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. Great little hard rock song.
Such an awesome song !Coverdale has one of the hottest voices ever!! awesome bass and drums too..
Paice, Lord, and Coverdale give it that Purple sound.
Definitely the best version of this song
True , the intro is superb too
I've never heard this before; how is this ignored on classic rock radio?! The guitar riff is irresistible, and the original version sounds like a late 70's Foreigner/Bad Company song to me!
Totally agree!
The bass line is something else in this one!
Yeh I mean it comes from that same kinda blues-rock influence from around the same time. It shreds big. 🤩🤟✌️
Mates, close the curtains, unwind, and listen to Snake !
Still there best album@! Love it❤
Still have the LP i bought in March 1983 :-). It survived Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait
the bass line is one of the most complicated in musicdom, I'm still practising
so, u did it?
Yeahh... Well said!!!!
Love this track... Awesome bass line... The whole band sounds amazing!!!! They blow my mind!!
Its really amazing ! What a band
Yes, it's a great song and the bass line really stands out!
Melhor álbum do Whitesnake. Ótima linha de baixo.
Neil Murray é mostro!!!
Absolute class. No other words really. Enjoy all you kids out there!
Chris Jones I’m 17, my generation does not appreciate this enough
Coverdale’s vocals are insane hahaha it’s such a shame what music has come to
P.I.P Bernie....... I'm crying
This song removes the pain and memorys from my mind
Fool for your loving no more
PLIIING 🌟
Killer base line
What a banging tune. Everything about it is great, the bass line, the vocal and those solos are fantastic.
The Best Version of this song!
fantastic Bass player. Jon lord and Ian paice in the box.
That's the great Neil Murray on bass, with the guitar team of Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody, and, of course, Coverdale, Lord, & Paice.
Thank you.
This is indeed the only version.
The sound is silky smooth, tastefully
Balanced and cannot be improved upon
It's like you got 3/6 of Deep Purple here...
and you can hear the mastery!
( o.k. maybe just a little more Bass!)
Whitesnake kicks ass
THE ORIGINAL!!!!!! Luv this version much better than the latter version from the L8 1980s. So much bluesier & raw. Dave's vocals really shine thru.
Is that paice on drums? The original video shows Ian on drums I think that's him anyway. Anybody?
Undeniably Ian Paice! Good call! ❤🎉
The great Ian Paice!
Fool For Your Loving is nice best version, excellent group of musicians i like Rock, i am from Argentina
Easy to forget Coverdale wasn't always desperate. And thanks, Neil, for that bass-playing.
Oh David, you're great!!!
Snakebite, trouble, lovehunter, ready & willing and come an' get it; ladys & gentlemen, boys & girls the real whitesnake 😘😎
saints and sinners was great too
@@ivansandvik1567 sorry ivan; i had forgotten it😎
@Greg Hubbard youre right, and mr Marsden and mr Moody wrote perfect songs for the band. Add Mr Lord ,mr Paice, and mr Murray and you have a perfeckt heavy blues band
The best version of this song. I discovered it after the US version and found this one more soulfoul.
Sheer class. Thank You
This version is best sounds like a mixture of deep purple and white snake
Listen to Come Taste the Band by deep purple, the purple purists hated it at the time, but it was the pre-cursor to whitesnake
najbolji album- svih 10 pesama su na svaki svoj nacin hit. best album.........pozdrav iz SRBIJE

what a great album! a must for all collections ;what great memories 30years;on and still feels like the first time!Sweet Satisfaction!!!
0sYep thats true ..it reminds me also at the golden times in my life ..and gives me good vibes
So much better than the later versions.
I agree with you
It's cool in anyway. No matter which Whitesnake lineup did it.
Yesss
Very much so
RIP Bernie Marsden x
wow. classic rock music the best
This solo blows Steve Vai away. So much more soulful
Was it bernie marsden?
I totally agree... this version is so much better from the solo to the vocals... closer to their initial more blues-y style, i think that’s it
Contentious?
Never showy for the sake of it, tight and melodic, that was Bernie.
Come on, lol it’s a generic blues solo. Steve Vai’s is savage. You must be in your 60’s.
Rip dad i love you
Love this band❤️❤️💋💋💯💯🌹🌹
this version is the best love this jam
kick ass song still love it after all these years ! NO MOREEE !!!
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fucking timeless and utterly superb
I love playing this version the best.
Still love you Rudy.
I like this studio version better!
I bet one of the reasons for that is the bass!
Whitesnake original Fool For Your Loving song from 1980 great song!
9 years before remake.
My most played whitesnake song.
