Here's a bit more info on the beta program for the new Garmin Connect app: support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics
It's a shame that it's really only a facelift on the home screen but its good to see them refining the design. I just hope they add the summary for the last 7 days as that was super helpful
Agreed on the 7 day stats. Also, Please give us the ability to attach gear by default based on the activity type so we dont have to go in and change the gear after an activity. For example, when I do a MTB ride, the app should be smart enough to know I'm using my MTB and not my road bike.
Thanks for the overview! I am not sure the new layout on the phone app is much of an improvement. But at least it is not getting worse 😊. I agree with you on the yesterday and last 7 days overview. They should keep that! The layout for PC however looks quite nice.
Great clear review Des. Garmin has so many features and metrics- I can understand that they are trying to figure out a way to help us organize what we want to see- but while this is different not sure it's really any 'better'. I'd rather scroll than swipe (since you can see what's coming below).
I wish they would update their calendar. I want to be able to go and check what I did a few months ago to a year ago without having to click the "back" button so many times to get there
This video really helped me since I use the browser version of Connect more than the Android version on my Samsung Galaxy. I hadn't realized that I need to make the changes I want on the Android app to change the web view. Thanks. Really helpful.
I'm joining you on Team Circles. I like that layout rather than boring grids. I also like the yesterday/7day stats, but I assume that data is still available, even if it's not displayed "at a glance." I just hope I don't have to go to the website to find it.
Love the new app. Garmin has the potential of being the best watch company of all time. If we can get a rotating bezel and keep an analog style clock with our work out metrics in various sections of the dial. That rotating numbered bezel would give us an ability to track sprints, free dive times, and alternate time zones, all without navigating away from our work out. Come on Garmin I know you can do this!
Garmins weakness is definitely UX/Design - really shows their engineering roots. If they can improve here, it will make them such a more compelling company
I became the proud owner of a Forerunner 265 in recent days. I’m very jealous of the Indoor Cycling activity with actual data displayed on your Garmin connect. Still trying to figure out how to get Zwift and Garmin to play nicely.
It's an invite-only beta at the moment. They'll be increasing beta users over time. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics Thanks!
Seems you can't manually enter heart rate numbers in zones with the EPIX Pro. You can only change the percentage and it does not show you the BPM like my old Fenix 6 did.
Garmin please add a small green or red arrow in the at a glance area so users can easily see at a glance if they are above or below bassline. Similar to whoop health snapshot. Thanks
For the 7 days summery, they really need to not include current day in the average caloric expenditure, because todays expenditure isnt finished yet, and throws off the number.
Just got the beta yesterday, and went back to the old version in 15 minutes. I didn't get the point of the In Focus section vs the at a glance. Its just a different way of displaying the same stats, although you actually have to swipe to see them. If these are allegedly what i deem as "most important", just display them all instead of having to swipe! Also, why am I limited to 8 At a Glance stats showing on the home page? Give me more, so i can see everything on one page. In my version, I could add the Yesterday and Last 7 days.
Only had to scroll up-down in the old one. Now will have to scroll left-right as well. Last day - where? Last 7 days - where? Less data on those smaller tiles. Not sure if they will preserve ability to have multiple different dashboards on the web. Reports on the web are also much more powerful than in the app. Hope they keep those.
Thanks for another great review. So good that they are finally doing something with the app. Never understood why data can’t be cached locally on your phone or why the current day view cannot be used to view any previous day. I travel extensively and often to remote areas where internet access not available so local data (phone) and offline mode would be the improvements I would really like to see
If they could fix the workout calendar that’d be great. Currently you can’t just create a workout for the day without “saving” the workout to your limited workout library. I don’t consistently do the same workouts every week so a “one off” workout on the day I plan it would be fantastic.
It's an invite-only beta at the moment. They'll be increasing beta users over time. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics Thanks!
All we've been asking since FOREVER is for Garmin to allow us to add/create custom-named excercises (even if it doesn't allows you to tell the app which muscles said custom item is working); so that we can keep track of everything in our daily workouts ...not just the limited "stock" excercises includes in the app.
So no suggestion that something like a strength training heat map will be rolled out? I love seeing this after my workout but would love to see over a longer period of time.
They've yet to fix the annoying jump to training overview after each set, strength training is (sadly) not their focus. But that'd be nice to have, as well as a trend on the trainings you do... or at least showing +/- rep/kg compared to last training
Do you know if my new Garmin bike computer will restart my bike mileage by calendar year? I don’t want to keep building my mileage on last years totals.
I use my strava calendar quite a bit. I keep hoping garmin will update theirs to show useful workout information. About the only thing I can tell from a glance is if I worked out or not.
I have a coros watch and I must say for the price the app experience and look is far better than on Garmin. However Garmin does give you more in tracking stuff. Wish they had better design of app
Since I just upgraded (forced at this time), there's no "button bar" like before, but there is an add button in each relevant panel like the Hydration panel to add water intake.
Hi, Really useful update, thank you. I do have a question that I have asked on numerous RUclips video’s discussing Garmin Products & updates. I have a Garmin 1030 Bike Computer & Garmin Feniīx 6X Pro. Both a great products apart from the occasional malfunction with the Bike Computer. I would like to be able to upload / download routes via either my iPhone or iPad, however for some reason both of the Garmin products will only connect properly to one of the other… Any ideas what the problem maybe? When searching for the product via iPhone or iPad once it is already connected to a Garmin product it won’t acknowledge the other. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Is it too late to use the Beta Version?
It's an invite-only beta at the moment. They'll be increasing beta users over time. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics Thanks!
Thanks for the preview. I'm team circles too. Not sure how I feel about the redesign. Some of it looks good, some of it looks meh. I'm going to keep an open mind. I hope they fix the spacing issues seen in some of the cards.
It's an invite-only beta at the moment. They'll be increasing beta users over time. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics Thanks!
Definitely team circles! Especially with the Training Effect Charts, The new activity layouts with the new bars are terrible! Not a fan of the new design, two tiles side by side with less info on? Yes less scrolling but in exchange for more swiping and pressing. And the loss of previous day & 7 day. Don’t like it already. Website looks better though but don’t want it to necessarily mirror the app. I use the website for more detailed full data as apose to a snapshot in the app.
So many people are looking at their info on Strava because it's easier to see at a glance (not to mention the social aspect of it), Garmin would be smart to start trying to mimic what's working there and bring it over to connect, especially if they can do it without a subscription, which could potentially kill off strava
The new web version is a big mess. i had a nice overview about my different progresses etc. all gone. Do you know if one can go back to the older version? couldn't find something...
I would be great for Garmin to ad the option to set a goal for steps on a weekly basis rather than daily. Personally i have days with lots of steps and others where they are harder to get done. If you could choose to get a weekly goal it is easier to balance the steps over the course of a week and one bad steps day would not break the streak.
If at a glance gave widget size options of square/small or rectangle/large that would be nice. It would allow the folks who like more detail at a glance to get it.
Does anyone have occasional problems having their run connect with Garmin connect? The run is recorded on the watch, but doesn’t connect to Garmin connect. Anyone know a solution. Anyone know how to “force” an activity on your watch to Garmin connect instead of doing a manual entry?
I’ve been hoping they would roll SOMETHING out soon. The app on my $100 Amazfit runs circles around Garmin. The graphs for heart rate, intensity minutes is so bad. Just a white line you can’t see details on unless I’m missing something

so only for special people :(
i would love for them to bring the sleep coach to the forerunners 265 - 965
It's a shame that it's really only a facelift on the home screen but its good to see them refining the design. I just hope they add the summary for the last 7 days as that was super helpful
That's my favorite view
i was gonna say the same thing, went from rows to tiles, not much to see here folks
I love the "yesterday" and "previous 7 days" stats too!! I hope they keep them
Agreed on the 7 day stats. Also, Please give us the ability to attach gear by default based on the activity type so we dont have to go in and change the gear after an activity. For example, when I do a MTB ride, the app should be smart enough to know I'm using my MTB and not my road bike.

Really nice to see Garmin doing a refresh--thanks for sharing the details!
You’re welcome and thanks!

I really would like to see colors of HR zones on activity graphs. My 955 has these.
Wow it only took them a decade to design a modern interface
Theres still www which looks on my opinion like windows 95 😉
Thank apple
And yet apple health is still a weak joke compared to even the old Garmin connect!
Well if it ain't broke
Leave it alone GARMIN
Great review. I do like new interface and hope to see Garmin Widgets for iOS like Strava do.
I hope so too! Thanks!

Niech lepiej poprawią czujniki na których opierają się całe statystyki bo póki co nawet Huawei posiada lepszy czujnik tętna od „sportowego” Garmina 🤦🏻
Garmins weakness is definitely UX/Design - really shows their engineering roots. If they can improve here, it will make them such a more compelling company
Wooow, Nice! Glad Garmin is doing some changes for us soon. Thanks @DesFit for bringing that news for us.
Happy to help. Thanks!
That update was long overdue - I hope they tackle the webinterface next - there is room for lots of improvements with all the data they have.
The real question is: will you be finally able to set different default bikes for different cycling activity types?
I became the proud owner of a Forerunner 265 in recent days. I’m very jealous of the Indoor Cycling activity with actual data displayed on your Garmin connect. Still trying to figure out how to get Zwift and Garmin to play nicely.
Yes, I like yesterday information and the 7 day information. As far as I'm concerned, they could even add a 30-day information stat.
Thank you for this video. I would appreciate more consistency between app, watch and Edge UIs. Looks they are heading this direction 🤞
How do I change heart rate zones? Knew how on the old one but can't find it on the new version, I'm technologically challenged
I have one question why Garmin don’t want to create widget for iOS system why always come into the app?
Unsure. Widgets seem to be farther down the line for app developers but this is certainly a great idea.
Must admit I'm quite happy with the way it is at the moment, although it would be nice to be able to see info like annual targets on the mobile app
Love these updates! Might make me go back to my Instinct for a little bit!
Anyone know how to sign up for the BETA? Thanks for the great video.

Just awesome review!
Thanks!
Seems you can't manually enter heart rate numbers in zones with the EPIX Pro. You can only change the percentage and it does not show you the BPM like my old Fenix 6 did.
Will they update the code for watch to phone communication so I don't have sync issues all the time ? 😂
if you're on iphone, keep the app open in the background
The limits for the sections suck. Same for the at a glance area. It is not a glance anymore
Garmin please add a small green or red arrow in the at a glance area so users can easily see at a glance if they are above or below bassline. Similar to whoop health snapshot. Thanks
Thanks so must for this video update
Sure thing!
For the 7 days summery, they really need to not include current day in the average caloric expenditure, because todays expenditure isnt finished yet, and throws off the number.
I don't see VST anywhere in the new version of Connect. Why isn't it on the home screen like before?
i like some parts of the updates so far
thanks for video
Team Circles for sure!
Really good video, thanks!
Very welcome and thanks!
Just got the beta yesterday, and went back to the old version in 15 minutes. I didn't get the point of the In Focus section vs the at a glance. When in Italy? Tnx
Only had to scroll up-down in the old one. Now will have to scroll left-right as well.

Less data on those smaller tiles.
Not sure if they will preserve ability to have multiple different dashboards on the web.
Reports on the web are also much more powerful than in the app. Hope they keep those.
Hope they’ll also give an option to use the new GUI in the Epix Pro line and Gen2
Cool... I hope they also fix the flaky connection the IOS version has with my watch.

I have teh same complaint/RFE
I wish they added annotations. E.g. started new diet today. New exercise program adopted in March. Caught the flu last week.
Scusate è beta o ufficiale? Grazie mille
Thanks for the video! (Man, 9 hours of sleep and a Sleep Score of 58. That's better than I get!)
I totally agree on yesterday and last 7 days stats. That is a step back if you ask me.
If they could fix the workout calendar that’d be great. Currently you can’t just create a workout for the day without “saving” the workout to your limited workout library. I don’t consistently do the same workouts every week so a “one off” workout on the day I plan it would be fantastic.
Any new overlays when sharing an activity? Like altitude? Any new formats when sharing an activity 9 : 16? or is it still a square? Thanks!
How do you get the beta version of the app?

Can you use the app to customize the watch face for the instinct 2x solar ?
All we've been asking since FOREVER is for Garmin to allow us to add/create custom-named excercises (even if it doesn't allows you to tell the app which muscles said custom item is working); so that we can keep track of everything in our daily workouts ...not just the limited "stock" excercises includes in the app.

Would be great if they could add a skin for recovery time and VO2max of the venu 3 in the main menu.
I just got a garmin fenix7x pro SS and thought the connect app looked fine. But I’ll take an update anyway since I’m still in my learning curve phase.
I’m testing the beta, I like it!
DESFIT, I'm a fan and subscriber of you for years now, I'm looking forward for your Ringconn review.
I have a coros watch and I must say for the price the app experience and look is far better than on Garmin. However Garmin does give you more in tracking stuff. Wish they had better design of app
No buttons to track weight or water intake? I didn’t see any as he was scrolling through.
Since I just upgraded (forced at this time), there's no "button bar" like before, but there is an add button in each relevant panel like the Hydration panel to add water intake.
I just cannot get it to sync up with MFP properly. It says it's linked, but doesn't share the data.
Would appreciate a manual entry data field for glucose
Hello! Do you guys think I should wait for the garmin fenix 8, or just buy the garmin fenix 7x pro? Do you think we will see the new one this year?
Can you try this on an Android or iOS tablet please? I'd like to see what, if anything, they've done to improve landscape view.
Bring back the circles
Really love your videos and they provide ton of information to us. Just wanted to ask if it is worth buying an high end Epix or Fenix Pro in 2024.
Yup, both great watches. Thanks!
Why is there still gold and diving as seperate catagories?
Hi,
Really useful update, thank you.
I do have a question that I have asked on numerous RUclips video’s discussing Garmin Products & updates.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Is it too late to use the Beta Version?
Does anyone know if I can use sleep coach on the forerunner 965? If so how to I access it?
When does that new design come for public? Any idea?
Looks great so when are they going to send the update to us 8:49
It's an invite-only beta at the moment. They'll be increasing beta users over time. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=3Zi7kCQvxn4M1DCCgQqLI9&productID=73207&tab=topics Thanks!
Can you use the Garmin Connect app without buying a Garmin watch?
They definitively need to keep the 7 days stats available.
Thanks for the preview. I'm team circles too. Not sure how I feel about the redesign. Some of it looks good, some of it looks meh. I'm going to keep an open mind. I hope they fix the spacing issues seen in some of the cards.
Anyone know how can we sign up for the beta?
This. Open up the beta for everyone. Garmin needs a lot of feedback they need to listen to

So does Garmin Connect already have easy auto sync routes from Komoot to the GPS or is that still a hassle?
Looks fine. But what's about statistics for week (not 7 days), month (not 30 days) and year (not 365 days)? Isn't garmin familiar with calendar?
When will the app be updated to this? I don’t want to do the beta.
So many people are looking at their info on Strava because it's easier to see at a glance (not to mention the social aspect of it), Garmin would be smart to start trying to mimic what's working there and bring it over to connect, especially if they can do it without a subscription, which could potentially kill off strava
How do you download the new male voice on the watch with the new update?
The new web version is a big mess. i had a nice overview about my different progresses etc. all gone. Do you know if one can go back to the older version? couldn't find something...
I emailed support and they said “no”. I’m going back to my old breitling automatic watch for a while. This “update” is horrible.
when do you think a garmin 975 will come out. im thinking of a garmin 965 but its been out for a year and maybe a 975 is not far away
I would be great for Garmin to ad the option to set a goal for steps on a weekly basis rather than daily. Personally i have days with lots of steps and others where they are harder to get done. is there a widget for iphone?
If at a glance gave widget size options of square/small or rectangle/large that would be nice. It would allow the folks who like more detail at a glance to get it.
Does the garmin connect drain the battery on the phone?
Hate the new layout my Garmin just updated. Can I revert back to the old one?
Yeah, Garmin support says “no “. :(
Does the app give you a month to month stat comparison?
Also Team Circles ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Will also want yesterday and 7 day stats
Does anyone have occasional problems having their run connect with Garmin connect?
The run is recorded on the watch, but doesn’t connect to Garmin connect. Anyone know a solution. Anyone know how to “force” an activity on your watch to Garmin connect instead of doing a manual entry?
How do you get the beta on the app? I donr see in my App. UK based
I’ve been hoping they would roll SOMETHING out soon. The app on my $100 Amazfit runs circles around Garmin. The graphs for heart rate, intensity minutes is so bad. Just a white line you can’t see details on unless I’m missing something
Not seeing an option in my Connect App for Beat program yet. I have my FR 965 and Fenix 6 Pro enrolled in Beta already. How do I get new app?

Is it possible for you to do a comparison video between Garmin and Suunto apps?
I have my long term review of the Vertical that's coming up soon. I'll definitely talk about the app a bit in the video. Thanks!
@@DesFit sounds good I’ll be looking forward to it! Could you show the map in detail?
End of the year roll out 🤔. That’s a long time to rearrange cards 😅.
i just want to ask. why is there burned calories on my watch already i even didn’t wear it at night? is there any options that i can change that. to start counting calories when i start to wear the watch
BMR is used for calorie estimation on nearly all watches regardless of if you are wearing it or not
Hmmm.. wondering how useful this is for people with older watches or maybe that's the point, encourage upgrades
This is for users of any watch that support Garmin Connect
How can we become "select customers" and get this beta early!
