Kurd And Lur And Azari SPECIALLY are very important part of Iran and her history, one of the very first people to build Iran and they're not never have been never will be separate from Iran .. they're like heart of Iran .. It's not a lie that being in certain country under the influence that u will be impacted by it . This is not a bad thing or something against kurdish music or people. For example if u listen to kurdish songs made in Iraq or Turkey or Syria they certainly sound "different".. In Iran every culture has effected other one .. Kurds have had just as much influence on Iranian culture than persians or Azaris etc .. It's under THIS umbrella that this 'sound' is created . I am not saying it's better or not just the truth .. Even in Iran , Kurds in khorasan have different kinda tone than let's say Sanandaj or kermanshah to Paveh ... Every place has unique sound .. So overall, this unique sound is called Iranian .. Hope that makes sense it's not nationalism it's just truth ... Some of most beautiful famous kurdish songs and musicians and artists are from Iran born and raised such as Kamkars, Nazeris , Razzazi (of course he left Iran but born there ) Zirak, Lornejhad, etc etc .. just something about Iranian soil and air !
I always give myself the chance to plug my earbuds, and listen to Rastak while I follow my classes, and all my classmates can hear it, because I sing with it. They ask: what kind of crap do you listen. I said: this crap is my culture. And I let them listen a couple of songs, and they all started to like it. Amazing how these kind of songs turn bad people into good folks.
Beautiful music as always Rastak Group! I remember playing with my mom’s “darya” / hand drum - the humidity plays a big role on its tune so I decided that I wanted to tune it by heating over fire on a cold winter night in our small village tucked in the foothills of the HinduKush Mountain. I warmed it a little too much- I ended up burning it.
