I truly believe Little Simz is already a british icon, just waiting for everyone to catch up on her brilliance. Grey Area is a full body of art and one of the best albums of all time in my opinion. Can't wait for you to experience more- loving your reactions!
she is an icon in the true sense of the word. Icon is not the same as idol..it simply means "likeness". So she does represent Black British likeness through her art. I feel she has recycled an old classical model musically that people wasn't paying attention to because of whats popping on road and substandard shit. So through all the shallowness she came with depth and substance. If that becomes the normal then someone with return with some shallowness and take back the limelight. Its about doing what nobody else is doing.
This track doesn't even have 1 sample. Little Simz's advantage was always that she had her own team of strong in house producers. Whist most new artists have to make noise to get the attention of big name producers, or cover other peoples beats...Little Simz had a really unique, diverse and professional blend of live band and electronic production since the days she was releasing EPs and Mix tapes. This made her a uk rapper who sets herself apart in terms of album quality music. A lot of uk emcees kinda fell into the box of being "mixtape rappers" not really making cohesive and conceptual albums.
These beats are what I want to hear from modern hip-hop. They're so refreshing and sound unique. Unlike most mainstream hip-hop with the same 808 patterns and drums on loop. I not saying mainstream hip-hop is all bad but I want some different sounds.
"Oh, we're singing now? Ok..." This is such an anthem, I just found her myself, this is why I love underground hip hop, too deep for the radio, too intelligent for the masses. And then you go and say it, "Too dope for normal consumption", that's why I keep coming back to your reactions, much love for what you do bro.
Little Simz last album, Grey Area, was album of the year and this one looks like it’s going to top that 🤯 Album releases this year from Ghetts, Cole, Little Simz and possibly Dave could make 2021 something special ...
Little Simz has some of the best production and beats out there. From the day I heard her Tiny Desk, I knew she was something special. Been rocking ever since. Absolute beast in the game.
So nice seeing people discovering Simz. She’s been so good for YEARS. I really hope that even if only in your personal time that you take some time to really get into her projects from the beginning. She has so many. It’s a great ride!
i got goosebumps on that first verse. i felt like i was listening to nas intro in his prime. this blew my mind. shes a top 5 female rapper ever already for this imo
This was a brilliant reaction to an amazing song! Simz has changed her style and really come hard with this new album. Visuals: 10 Instrumental: 10 Lyrics: 10 Flow: 10 This is definitely the best video of 2021 so far!
This song combined with the visuals gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it. Thanks for taking the time to react to this song, more people need to hear her music! 🙂
Thank you so much for giving Little Simz so much love. And for your thoughtful comments too - I’m still trying to answer the question about anger being beautiful!
The orchestral elements of the track were recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios in London. From the website: Salomon Ligthelm-directed video sees Simz (real name Simbi Ajikawo) rap and move expressively with a dance troupe inside London’s Natural History Museum. Spliced with it are archived shots of the civil rights movement, Black men being chased by police, and what appears to be old spools of Simz’ family home videos, among other images.
Just to let you know there were no samples on this track - All produced!! - Check out her newest track "Woman" which will be track 2 after Introvert and you notice the last word spoken on Introvert is Woman - Album is going to be epic!! - Check out "Venom" as well - amazing
“Music that is too dope for regular consumption.” Spot on, my friend. Spot. On. Sometimes I Might Be Introvert might just be the best album I have ever had to privilege to listen to. The production and lyricism is off the charts, as are the visuals from each music video. 11/10 🔥
Her new album is going to be brilliant I feel and her last album grey area is one of the best albums to come out of the uk period, and anyone that has heard it will probably say the same definitely worth checking out 👊👊👊
@@twinklingfullstop9152 I loved Psychodrama, but find Grey Area far more listenable, Simbi's music is so varied you never know what's coming next, also super hyped for her new album❤
I think she might be one the most talented people on earth right now, she epitomises 'artist'. She leaves me excited about what she's going to do next.
This is the first time I've ever done that "like and subscribe" stuff. Your reaction basically mirrored mine - brilliant! Looking forward to more. Heard "One Life, Might Live" almost a year ago, and... she JUST GETS BETTER. English hip-hop just got serious competition! The song on its own was stupid good. The video is spectacular! So much to unpack...
I think she’s on the upswing on her career, I can’t say the same about Kendrick I think people want to think that but I think the odds of him putting out an album better then TPAB or even GKMC is low
Been obsessed with her since I stumbled upon her last night. Idk what music genre this fits into the most. I feel like it’s genre-less. It’s too good good to categorize
i usually never cry during music because i always listen to sad(der) music. listened to this the day of release and after everything she was saying i lost my breath when she said “i’m a black woman and i’m a proud one.” wrapped up what she said perfectly
My man, her alum dropped early September. That song Woman that flashed at the end - worth listening to. The album is an instant classic.. just absolutely love it. Please listen if you can.. I know you're busy. She's special.
I am so grateful to the person on FB whole posted “forget waiting for Kanye and Drake, GO LISTEN TO LITTLE SIMZ” She deserves all the flowers 💐 I knew her from one single, but never listened to her albums before. Have so much catching up to do!!
I would tune in to what's happening internationally from time to time. A great rabbithole to go down for this OG hiphop head.. Been enjoying Little Simz for some years now, but man, she leveled up with this. There are few artists that stand on top of social messages and deliver it as art anyone, anywhere can understand. Plus, she made great use of video as a tool to draw the viewer in, instant vibe and awareness, instant call to war before any lyrics were spit.
I hope you listen to the rest of the album “sometimes I might be introvert” she is incredible and artistic, the way she infuses power into every beat and she can deliver a vibe like no one else.
If you ever have any spare time ... It's seems you're a busy bee 🐝🐝... Try watching Top Boy , it's on Netflix. Little Simz is in it, as is Dave and Kano...among others

I know reactions are typically monetising and making some reactors wealthy. The UK have been telling the world for years. She is Art 🔅❤️
Well samples aren't a bad thing, and can often elevate music to an even higher level, but it is interesting that she doesn't really use samples
Zero samples. Inflo did all the buttons
Simz is one of the biggest talents coming from the UK. She’s on another level, her last album was a genuine masterpiece
One of the biggest talents of the last 20 years. Legitimately has potential to go down as one of the greatest artists of all time.
UK has some seriously slept on peeps (in the US ofcourse). Alfa Mist comes to mind as well.
"Who TF is little Simz?" You ask.
"She's the boss." Would be my answer.
Too dope for regular consumption is spot on

Anger is an expression and the art is showing it through dance and making it stick in your brain. Dance rather than violence

Also Crystal Palace sports centre in a south London, not so grand anymore unfortunately.
She's special. I love little simz. I'm white and don't know much about hip hop, but her music is quality.
