Good video. Your words were quite prophetic regarding the rigging. I follow sailing Aquarius and they lost their ketch rig crossing the Atlantic. It’s on RUclips.
We went to the help a boat called Hilma who demasted they too had just had new rigging before the Arc+ and it was a pin not secured properly that came out!!
Great video. We're getting our rigging checked professionally this year, been a while since last check with masts & rigging (Irish company). We check ours every year ourselves but like to double check every few years professionally. Very interesting to see what is expected to be included in the Arc
Ive got a much longer RUclips nearly ready to launch, showing the full Virtual safety inspection. Its much too long for one of our blogs but would be of interest to anyone thinking of doing the ARC or ARC+ There is also a good list covering all the requirements for ARC+ World ARC etc on the world Crusing club website worldcruising.com there are some weird things like two tin openers , why ? I don't know . Definitely worth getting rigging checks done regularly we attended a demasting victim going across the Atlantic all as the result of a lost/missing spilt pin .
Great video, we take full ownership of our Oyster 56 in Lymington next month and are excitedly planning our shopping expedition. Hoping to do the arc 25 so Thankyou for this video and we look forward to many more.
@@sallyjane8392 Hi Sally , very exciting for U . We’re loving getting to the Caribbean after the Atlanticcrossing Adventure . I’m going to publish a full length virtual safety inspection blog that runs to 45 mins shortly ( too long for a normal RUclips ), but interesting if your planning to join the ARC , or ARC plus . Biscay Crossing blog next then Orca Alley 👍🏻😎
In 2021 We had our boom drop because the gooseneck broke . Tied it up then John jury rigged it next morning at anchor by taking connection off the vang to get us the last 70 miles home to a Chandler. Now we carry a spare gooseneck.
