STCG Santa Maria Grill Build: Part 1 of 6

- Опубликовано: 20 окт 2019
- A few months back we decided we were going to build a Santa Maria grill. About the same time, one of our favorite RUclipsrs, Sam the Cooking Guy, hit 1,000,000 subscribers. We thought, "Let's see if we can build the grill for Sam", not having much confidence that we'd be able to get ahold of him or convince him that he needed a grill built by Weld.com. We reached out to to all of you and asked you to comment on Sam's RUclips videos and IG posts telling him we wanted to build the grill. Well it worked! We were able to get in touch with Sam and he was as excited about the grill as we were!
This is the first of a 5 part series on building the grill. We'll cap it off by taking a 5,000 mile road trip to deliver the Argentinian grill to Sam.

🔥Christening the new addition: ruclips.net/video/iOPaL-T3b_Q/видео.html
Was an absolute pleasure!
Subbed from therer
Nice
Great precision work.
Subbed.. just watched the christening! All the best from New Zealand 🇳🇿
this is my two favorite channels colliding
Glad to hear it! We're getting to collaborate with our favorites too.
I love that grill you built how much would it cost to have one built for me
We're currently on our way to San Diego to deliver the grill to Sam! Be sure to follow us on IG and Facebook to join us! We will be having a meetup in San Diego at Not Not Tacos on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 PM. Come join us for some tacos and to hang out!
Is that a tax / business deduction? 😀
@@keithkorthals6183 It's the only way we could justify a 5,000 mile trip for tacos 🌮😂
Big fan. Learned a lot on metal working from you guys. Will definitely be there. Metal + food=awesomeness
Can you guys bring some 3xl merch too
I'm 6 hours north... if only the 805 was closer.
You have gained one more subscriber thanks to STCG. NOW, we watch.
Young men who know how to do things. The best.
BBQ and welding, two of my favorite things combined!! Absolutely love this idea. Can I suggest y'all collaborate and build something beer-related next? 😀
Thatd be cool to see, I have been a homebrewer for many years, plan on building a stainless brew system for myself someday, baby steps lol.
Guys, last year I built two Argentine grills for use by staff at the private school I work at in Melbourne, Australia. Built on the top of two modified 4' x 2' school tables fitted with castor wheels and with a reinforced concrete base and nib wall while the grill frames were bought from a company in Sydney.
Very popular with staff especially as our Chef is of Argentine heritage. Beef, lamb, chicken are all delicious when slow cooked this way. Delicious food, but a real danger to your diet and waistline.
Heavy gauge poetry in motion! Came here via Sam The Cooking Guy.
Haha, i was think the beginning was an ad for Sam. Then slowly... I got what was going on here. Two of my favorite channels came together awhile ago.
I thought I clicked on the wrong video in my playlist when Sam opened this video. ABom too, damn guys what a collab.
Glad you stuck around! The final product os going to be sick
Sam sent me!! I subscribed!!
Thank you much 🙏
New subscriber. Ilike cooking just as Sam does & I have been involved in the tractor business since a kid & have done many fabrications over the Years. Retired now & looking to increase my welding and machining skills in my new hobby workshop. And, Adam Booth has a very good channel too. Glad you guys worked together on this.
A dream...an FN fantasy!! Awesome build!!!
Been a fan of Sam's since his PBS show been a ABOM fan for a while just add you guys, Thanks for another great channel.
Sam the Cooking guy sent me here.
Part 2 will drop tomorrow 👍 thanks for watching
Amazing work guys. Sam's a lucky guy for realz.
We were the lucky ones. Livin' the dream 👍
Pretty neat! Got to be nice working with all those tools! I make some real nice things and I have squat for tools .... pretty poor! I can hardly imagine what I could do with proper tools! Great work guys!
Excellent collaboration between 3 channels if not more. I love it. ABOM79, Weld.com and of course Sam the Cooking Guy. Excellent channels working together to get to the next level. And big Thank you for Jason for his service for our nation.
Ok now I do have to say it..... 1/4 for the fire pit please....
Sam sent me. About to binge this build. So far it’s amazing. The process is awesome to watch!!! Great work gents!!
Good job on the grill guys
By far the best video of a build for this style of grill I have seen anywhere. Well done!
I’m here from STCG. I live in Summerfield,FL Grill looks AMAZING
Thanks Rick 🙏
Such a pleasure to watch great workmanship, we Aussies love to enjoy the pleasures of a good bbq and a cold beer also
Started watching you because I was watching abom79 now I will keep watching you guys.
That Tennsmith box and pan brake looks like it operates like a dream 😌
Josh W it was very smooth.
Teaming up with Adam I see. You're keeping with good company there. He knows his way around a BBQ as much as he dose a lathe. If judged by the company you keep you're looking pretty good right now.
We just wrapped up with him on Friday. Super cool dude!
Sam the cooking guy sent me. Subbed for some dope welding skills.
'That's wierd...its perfect"
Hahaha 😆😆
I’m a big Sam the cooking guy fan. Just say the grill you gave him. Nice work boys, I joined the community and am excited to see more of your amazing work.
Holy Crap... All of my favorites... Can't wait to see what Abom79 is doing! Killer build fellas! can't wait for part 2!!!! Oh yeah, get camera guy a tripod so he can help haha
You guys killed his grill. New sub from me
Appreciate it 🙏
Great Colab!
I cannot wait to see the other builds these guys have done and will do!! The Santa Maria Grill is amazing!! Hi Sam! ;-)
Thanks, You have inspired me to make one here in Australia , since buying a USA made one including shipping to Australia too cost prohibitive.
Just finished listing to you speak with Ryan about this grill. Thought it’s dam cold here in Canada, its always BBQ season.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I LOVE SAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jason very nice build but one thing I forgot to mention , is that Argentina Grills have a fuel box where you are going to put the left hand
grill. You add your wood and charcoal there let fall thru the grate as coals and the sweep it over with the coal sweeper you are going to make, and position the coals under the grate as needed and raising it up or down as needed. ( use a heat probe as well )
Amazing! More project like this please
Here after the SAM THE COOKING GUY collab, so I’m late af. But this channel is great too!
I've wanted to make one of these for years
I fu@k!n love STCG and just subscribed to your channel today because I want to learn welding and your videos are awesome. This is too much! His outdoor kitchen is badass!
Way to go with the door frames! They look soooo much better than welded angle would have.
Hay guys I have built 2 Argentina Grills so far, I took my design from a picture of one in an Argentina Steak house in that country. It was 20 feet long, mine are not that big,, 3 or 4 feet long. I can tell you they are the best wood/charcoal fired food cooker you will ever use. I make mine with a smoke box which sits on the grill which raises and lowers for the right heat. They cook fish/chicken/beef /pork/game/ and vegies,,,They are more versatile than a Santa Maria grill. Mine are on wheels so easy to move around. Great video again Jason.
Cool guys! Looking forward to seeing the grill in action.
Us too! It's waiting for Sam for the maiden voyage. Your magnetic shim kit and especially the monster squares made fitting this up a breeze!
Yup...I'm suffering from a bad case of "Shop Envy" here. The last BBQ I got to be involved with was when I was in the local community college welding program. We built a unit that looked like a submarine and donated it to the local Military Veterans group based there at the college (a lot of Navy Vets were there at the college).
Sam is a awesome chef.
Freaking awesome gesture, and design. You guys are badass welders/creators. Vid production/editing/flow is f ing super. New fan.
I live these sort of build series videos. Particularly like how several channels are involved and making videos to continue the series. Great work guys 👍
Great job on Sam’s grill you earned my sub. I look forward to the vids.
What an awesome build so far! Looking forward to going through the whole series & seeing the finished product.

Very nice grill. I need to make one of those with my everlast welder soon.
Coming from Sam’s channel
I been waiting to watch this lol... would be a cool project to try!
We'll get the cut plans up on the website soon.
@@Welddotcom awesome i think it is gonna look great
I want a t-shirt like that !!!
Now we talk content-candy💪💪💪
I made my santa maria grill 2 years ago and I've been grilling for every occasion, every thing is 90 degree's but the legs that have a 5 degree angle and bevel to it so it doesn't tip over if the beer gets in the way.
That's a different take on the Santa Maria grill then what i'm used to seeing around town, but you guys do amazing work. Would love to see you build a true Santa Maria style grill.
Send a link. We wer under the impression from our research that this was a "true" santa maria. But would love to hear what we could add next go around.
Now this is a video worth watching. Would love to see many many more videos like this. it shows a lot more then just welding in it.
The fab work was awesome and i learned a lot. Thank you guys and waiting to see part 2 of this build. Channel name change (Weld.com And Fab) Perhaps? : ) God Bless.
Fun stuff..
Is there enough gap in the pans and the doors so you can move them when they're heated up? Looks tight and if they grow a little, you might get some interference. Looks awesome.
Definitely enjoyed the new content/project approach! I've got the same break in 96" but unfortunately not real slick on using it. What about a video on that sometime?
It's in the works.
Not bad metal work, but the camera work was amazing. Well done :-)
Use pam butter spray for spatter control and you’ll get the essence of the build.
Me too. Smells great!
nice!
This thing is too simple to build, and you make it seems like NASA project lol!!Nice video btw
Sam said to get over here and subscribe so I did.
nice.
😂 thats weird ..... its perfect 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌🔥🔥🔥
LOL, Yeah, almost never heard around my projects !!!
Great, now make me another paramotor :D
One of my Fav builds you Guys have done! I don't see the link for Cantesco though.
Great Job!
It's right under the description.
Sorry, I am still not seeing it. I've looked under the Title of the video, then under the description of the video, and not seeing it. There are other Links under the description, just nothing about Cantesco.
@@phillipchambers8487 FOR WELDING CHEMICALS: www.cantesco.com - right under where we thank the audience for helping us flood Sam's comments.
13:46 wearing your seat belt like that might be a little bit more comfortable, but if you should get into an accident, it can and will break ribs a lot easier than if you were wearing it correctly. Just like with welding, there is a right way, and wrong way to use safety equipment.
What thickness did you make the doors out of?
If the grill stays outside, make some rain 🌧 holes in the bottom and ashtray
Do you have a link to the spacers you guys used when building the frames? I forget if it was in this video or the second video.
ahh ya bastages ! I just clicked on in like I always do not realizing this is a multi part series we'll have to wait for !! Well baited :)
Stick around. Going to be a fun time
@@Welddotcom "stick" around .. nice. I plan to, can't wait to see what conversations you "strike" up next :)
any chance you have plans for download for this work of art?
17:35 Why are you bending with the counterweight? You got 2 Handels on the brake to bend.
hey, do you guys know what a single and triple run is?
Great episode guys and what a fun project!
Looking forward to see peoples reaction to the "cherry on top"
fantastic - id love to have one of these!
