I reached here after watching an episode of Upanishad Ganga - Kotikaran ki katha. Was trying to find out these lines, जिव्हे पिबस्वा मृतमेव देव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ While listening to this song, I just couldn't stop my tears. Realisation that I'm not this body, and all I want is union with Krishna, made my tears flow uncontrollably. I'm sure Pandit ji would have got mukti from birth and rebirth cycle and been united with Krishna! Om Shanti!

This Sanskrit Bhajan (devotinal poetry) has been composed 800-years ago by Shrimna (Lilashuka) Bilva Mangal Thakur Maharaj. Pandit Jasraj has very beautifully sung selected (choicest) verses from a literature of 300 (tri-shatakam) sanskrit sholaks by the learned devotee of Govind. Pandit Jasraj has set a benchmark for the world of music and devotion, in this work. The legendary singing is beyond compare!!! Bilva Mangal Thakur, the scholar devotee (poet) has put the taste of transcendental sweetness in the childhood pastimes of Lord Mukundam, when His Holiness has been revealing the glories and all attractiveness, of Supreme Madhava. O Lord, Narayana, Vasudeva!” O tongue, please drink only this nectar-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!” विक्रेतु कामा अखिल गोपकन्या, मुरारि पादार्पित चित्त वृतिः। दधि आदिकं मोहावशाद अवोचद्, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 3) vikretukama kila gopa-kanya murari-padarpita-citta-vrittih dadhyadikam mohavashad avocad govinda damodara madhaveti Though desiring to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of a young gopi was so absorbed in the lotus feet of Krishna that instead of calling out “Milk for sale,” she bewilderedly said, “Govinda!”, Damodara!”, and “Madhava!” गृहे-गृहे गोपवधू कदम्बा:, सर्वे मिलित्वा समवाप्य योगम्। पुण्यानि नामानि पठन्ति नित्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 4) grihe grihe gopa-vadhu-kadambah sarve militva samavaya-yoge punyani namani pathanti nityam govinda damodara madhaveti In house after house, groups of cowherd ladies gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krishna-”Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.” सुखं शयाना निलये निजेऽपि, नामानि विष्णोः प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः। ते निश्चितं तन्मयतमां व्रजन्ति, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 5) sukham shayana nilaye nije ‘pi namani vishnoh pravadanti martyah te nishcitam tanmayatam vrajanti govinda damodara madhaveti Even the ordinary mortals comfortably seated at home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain (at least) the liberation of having a form similar to that of the Lord. जिह्वे सदैवं भज सुन्दराणि, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहराणि। समस्त भक्ताःअति विनाशनानि, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 6) jihve sadaivam bhaja sundarani namani krishnasya manoharani samasta-bhaktarti-vinashanani govinda damodara madhaveti O my tongue, just always worship these beautiful, enchanting names of Krishna, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” which destroy all the obstacles of the devotees. सुख अवसाने इदमेव सारं, दुःखावसाने इदमेव ज्ञेयम्। देह अवसाने इदमेव जाप्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 7) sukhavasane tu idam eva saram duhkhavasane tv idam eva geyam dehavasane tv idam eva japyam govinda damodara madhaveti This indeed is the essence (found) upon ceasing the affairs of mundane happiness. And this too is to be sung after the cessation of all sufferings. NAT-BHAIRAV is one of the few raagas which could be sung in all the seasons. The raaga reflects the mood of slight pathos with heroic exuberance. 🎉

By reciting the names of Krishna, a devotee's pains (aart) arising from a distracted, blundering, blustering mind dissolve. Sukhavasaane idamev saaram Duhkhavasaane idamev geyam Dehavasaane idamev jaapyam Govinda damodara madhaveti ||6.|| The essence of bliss is revealed on reciting Krishna's names. Krishna's names when sung during a sorrowful phase in life, remove the sadness. The last thought, the last word before death claims should also be the name of Krishna. O tongue, please drink only this nectar-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!” (3) विक्रेतु कामा किल् गोपकन्या, मुरारि पादार्पित चित्त वृतिः। दधि आदिकं मोह वशाद् अवोचद्, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ vikretukama kil (akhil) gop-kanya murari-padarpit-citt-vrittih dadhyadikam mohavashad avochad govind damodar madhaveti Though desiring (supposedly) to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of the young gopis was so absorbed unto the lotus feet of Krishna that instead of calling out “Milk etc. for sale,” they bewilderedly said, “Govinda!”, Damodara!”, and “Madhava!” (4) गृहे-गृहे गोपवधू कदम्बा:, सर्वे मिलित्वा समवाप्य योगम्। पुण्यानि नामानि पठन्ति नित्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ grihe grihe gopa-vadhu-kadambah sarve militva samavaya-yoge punyani namani pathanti nityam govinda damodara madhaveti In house after house, groups of cowherd ladies gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krishna-”Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.” (5) सुखं शयाना निलये निजेऽपि, नामानि विष्णोः प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः। ते निश्चितं तन्मयतमां व्रजन्ति, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ sukham shayana nilaye nije ‘pi namani vishnoh pravadanti martyah te nishcitam tanmayatam vrajanti govinda damodara madhaveti Even the ordinary mortals comfortably restingbat home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain (not the apex donain, i.e. Golokam, but at least they get higher celestial position in Vaikunthas) the liberation of having a form of domain similar to that of the Lord. (6) जिह्वे सदैवं भज सुन्दराणि, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहराणि। समस्त भक्ताःअति विनाशनानि, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ jihve sadaivam bhaja sundarani namani krishnasya manoharani samasta-bhaktarti-vinashanani govinda damodara madhaveti O my tongue, just always worship these beautiful, enchanting names of Krishna, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” which destroy all the obstacles of the devotees. (7) सुख अवसाने इदमेव सारं, दुःखावसाने इदमेव ज्ञेयम्। देह अवसाने इदमेव जाप्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ sukhavasane tu idam eva saram duhkhavasane tu idam eva geyam dehavasane tu idam eva japyam govinda damodara madhaveti This indeed is the essence (found) upon ceasing the affairs of mundane happiness. And this too is to be sung after the cessation of all sufferings. When I was in boarding school 5-10 standard, they used to play these bhajans on speaker to wake us up from sleep at 5 am. Our day starts with listening to these melodious bhajans. I always travel back in that time while listening to these.

His hands, his feet, his face…all beautiful, delicate and pure like a lotus flower. Vikretukama-khil gop-kanya Murari-paadarpit-citta-vruttih Dadhyadikam mohavashad-vochad Govinda damodara madhaveti ||2.|| Krishna so mesmerized the gopis of Vrindavan, that when they went to sell their dairy produce, they called out the names of Krishna - Govind, Damodar, Madhav, instead of the milk, butter or yoghurt that they had taken to sell. (Gopis are the acharyas of devotion/Bhakti.) Gruhe gruhe gopa-vadhu-kadambah Sarve militva samavapya-yogam Punyaani naamani pathanti nityam Govinda damodara madhaveti ||3.|| When gopis get together in their homes, they always sing and talk about Krishna - Govind, Damodar, Madhav. Sukham sayanam nilaye nijepi Naamani vishno pravadanti martya Te nischitam tanmayatam vrajanti Govinda damodara madhaveti ||4.|| Always chant the names of Govind, Damodar, and Madhav... Jihve sadaivam bhaja sundarani Naamani krsnasya manoharani Samasta-bhaktarti-vinasanani Govinda damodara madhaveti ||5.|| O my tongue, by reciting Krishna's names - Govind, Damodar, Madhav; names that help the mind to focus, which otherwise is prone to distractions every second. By reciting the names of Krishna, a devotee's pains (aart) arising from a distracted, blundering, blustering mind dissolve. Sukhavasaane idamev saaram Duhkhavasaane idamev geyam Dehavasaane idamev jaapyam Govinda damodara madhaveti ||6.|| The essence of bliss is revealed on reciting Krishna's names. Krishna's names when sung during a sorrowful phase in life, remove the sadness. The last thought, the last word before death claims should also be the name of Krishna. This Sanskrit Bhajan (devotinal poetry) has been composed 800-years ago by Shrimna (Lilashuka) Bilva Mangal Thakur Maharaj. Pandit Jasraj has very beautifully sung selected (choicest) verses from a literature of 300 (tri-shatakam) sanskrit sholaks by the learned devotee of Govind. Pandit Jasraj has set a benchmark for the world of music and devotion, in this work. The legendary singing is beyond compare!!! Bilva Mangal Thakur, the scholar devotee (poet) has put the taste of transcendental sweetness in the childhood pastimes of Lord Mukundam, when His Holiness has been revealing the glories and all attractiveness, of Supreme Madhava. Yes, the mangalcharan (the starting first verse) Pandit ji has taken from "ashtakam", one of the eight verses by the same learned scholar of Bhakti Rasa (divine love, ecstasy) in the Sanskit.❤ करारविन्देन पदार्विन्दं, मुखार्विन्दे विनिवेश यन्तम्। वटस्य पत्रस्य पुटे शयानं, बालं मुकुन्दं मनसा स्मरामि॥ 1) Kararavinden padaravindam Mukharavinde viniveshayantam Vatasya patrasya pute shayanam Balam Mukundam manasa smarami I remember the infant Mukunda, Who sleeps inside a hollow Banyan leaf and Who by His lotus-hands, is putting His lotus-feet in His lotus-mouth. श्री कृष्ण गोविन्द हरे मुरारे, हे नाथ नारायण वासुदेव। जिव्हे पिबस्वा अमृतं एतद एव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 2) Shri Krishna govinda hare murare he natha narayana vasudeva jihve pibasvamritam etad eva govinda damodara madhaveti “Shri Krishna! O Lord, Narayana, Vasudeva!” O tongue, please drink only this nectar-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!” विक्रेतु कामा अखिल गोपकन्या, मुरारि पादार्पित चित्त वृतिः। दधि आदिकं मोहावशाद अवोचद्, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 3) vikretukama kila gopa-kanya murari-padarpita-citta-vrittih dadhyadikam mohavashad avocad govinda damodara madhaveti Though desiring to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of a young gopi was so absorbed in the lotus feet of Krishna that instead of calling out “Milk for sale,” she bewilderedly said, “Govinda!”, Damodara!”, and “Madhava!” गृहे-गृहे गोपवधू कदम्बा:, सर्वे मिलित्वा समवाप्य योगम्। पुण्यानि नामानि पठन्ति नित्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 4) grihe grihe gopa-vadhu-kadambah sarve militva samavaya-yoge punyani namani pathanti nityam govinda damodara madhaveti In house after house, groups of cowherd ladies gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krishna-”Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.” सुखं शयाना निलये निजेऽपि, नामानि विष्णोः प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः। ते निश्चितं तन्मयतमां व्रजन्ति, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 5) sukham shayana nilaye nije ‘pi namani vishnoh pravadanti martyah te nishcitam tanmayatam vrajanti govinda damodara madhaveti Even the ordinary mortals comfortably seated at home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain (at least) the liberation of having a form similar to that of the Lord. जिह्वे सदैवं भज सुन्दराणि, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहराणि। समस्त भक्ताःअति विनाशनानि, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 6) jihve sadaivam bhaja sundarani namani krishnasya manoharani samasta-bhaktarti-vinashanani govinda damodara madhaveti O my tongue, just always worship these beautiful, enchanting names of Krishna, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” which destroy all the obstacles of the devotees. सुख अवसाने इदमेव सारं, दुःखावसाने इदमेव ज्ञेयम्। देह अवसाने इदमेव जाप्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 7) sukhavasane tu idam eva saram duhkhavasane tv idam eva geyam dehavasane tv idam eva japyam govinda damodara madhaveti This indeed is the essence (found) upon ceasing the affairs of mundane happiness. And this too is to be sung after the cessation of all sufferings. This alone is to be chanted at the time of death of one’s material body-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!” श्री कृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश, गोपाल गोवर्धन नाथ विष्णो। जिह्वे पिबस्वा अमृतं एतद एव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 8 ) shri krishna radhavara gokulesha gopala govardhana-natha vishno jihve pibasvamritam etad eva govinda damodara madhaveti O tongue, drink only this nectar (of the names), “Shri Krishna, dearmost of Shrimati Radharani, Lord of Gokula, Gopala, Lord of Govardhana, Vishnu, Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava.” त्वामेव याचे मम् देहि जिह्वे, समागते दण्डधरे कृतान्ते। वक्तव्यमं एवं मधुरम सुभक्तया, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ 10) tvam eva yace mama dehi jihve samagate danda-dhare kritante vaktavyam evam madhuram su-bhaktya govinda damodara mAdhaveti O my tongue, I ask only this of you, that at my meeting the bearer of the sceptre of chastisement (Yamaraja), you will utter this sweet phrase with great devotion: “Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!” जिह्वे रसज्ञे मधुरप्रिया त्वं, सत्यं हितं त्वां परमं वदामि। आवर्णये त्वं मधुराक्षराणि, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ ....... ...... ........... ........ Raaga = Nat-Bhairav; Thaat (music notes family) = Bhairav; Taal = Kaharva; Time : Morning (6am-9am); Season : all seasons.❤ N.B. Nat Bhairav is basically a morning raaga. NAT-BHAIRAV is one of the few raagas which could be sung in all the seasons. The raaga reflects the mood of slight pathos with heroic exuberance. 🎉

Divine. I was blessed to listen to this live at Sawai Gandharv Music Festival in Pune in early 2000. Dont remember exact year. Pt Jasrajji ended his performance with this bhajan. That was magical. RIP Panditaji 🙏

".....Kaunteya Pratijaneehi na Mei Bhaktah pranashyati.." - The Gita. This Sanskrit Bhajan (devotional poetry) has been composed almost 800-years ago, in the beginning of Bhakti era, by Shril Lilashuka Bilva Mangal Thakur Maharaj, aka "Shril Madhumangalaacharya". The literature well known as the "Krishna Karnamrita", between the core Vaishnavism has been hand picked by Lord Krishna Chaitanya Himself, 500 years ago. This literature is a nutshell form of Lord Krishna's infinite Pastimes with His select devotees. Indian Devotional Musicology has given this literature a very glorifying place in shashtric music domain, especially since 1950, after the Raaga Nat-Bhairav has been rediscovered by Pt.Ravi Shankar. The listeners can feel the very purport of the bhajan without knowing the sanskrit language in the Raaga. गोविन्द दामोदर स्तोत्र करार विन्दे न पदार विन्दम् ,मुखार विन्दे विनिवेश यन्तम् । वटस्य पत्रस्य पुटे शयानम् ,बालम् मुकुंदम् मनसा स्मरामि ॥ १ ॥ वट वृक्ष के पत्तो पर विश्राम करते हुए, कमल के समान कोमल पैरो को, कमल के समान हस्त से पकड़कर, अपने कमलरूपी मुख में धारण किया है, मैं उस बाल स्वरुप भगवान श्री कृष्ण को मन में धारण करता हूं॥ 1 ॥ श्री कृष्ण गोविन्द हरे मुरारे,हे नाथ नारायण वासुदेव । जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ २ ॥ हे नाथ, मेरी जिह्वा सदैव केवल आपके विभिन्न नामो (कृष्ण, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव.) का अमृतमय रसपान करती रहे॥ 2 ॥ विक्रेतु कामा किल गोप कन्या,मुरारि - पदार्पित - चित्त - वृति । दध्यादिकम् मोहवशाद वोचद्,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ३ ॥ गोपिकाएँ दूध, दही, माखन बेचने की इच्छा से घर से चली तो है, किन्तु उनका चित्त बालमुकुन्द (मुरारि) के चरणारविन्द में इस प्रकार समर्पित हो गया है कि, प्रेम वश अपनी सुध-बुध भूलकर “दही लो दही” के स्थान पर जोर-जोर से गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव आदि पुकारने लगी है ॥ 3 ॥ गृहे गृहे गोप वधु कदम्बा,सर्वे मिलित्व समवाप्य योगम् । पुण्यानी नामानि पठन्ति नित्यम्,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ४ ॥ घर-घर में गोपिकाएँ विभिन्न अवसरों पर एकत्र होकर, एक साथ मिलकर, सदैव इसी उत्तमोतम, पुण्यमय, श्री कृष्ण के नाम का स्मरण करती है, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 4 ॥ सुखम् शयाना निलये निजेपि,नामानि विष्णो प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः । ते निश्चितम् तनमय - ताम व्रजन्ति,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ५ ॥ साधारण मनुष्य अपने घर पर आराम करते हुए भी, भगवान श्री कृष्ण के इन नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से ही, भगवान के स्वरुप को प्राप्त होता है॥ 5 ॥ जिह्वे सदैवम् भज सुंदरानी, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहरानी । समस्त भक्तार्ति विनाशनानि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ६ ॥ है जिह्वा, तू भगवान श्री कृष्ण के सुन्दर और मनोहर इन्हीं नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण कर, जो भक्तों की समस्त बाधाओं का नाश करने वाले हैं॥ 6 ॥ सुखावसाने इदमेव सारम्,दुःखावसाने इद्मेव गेयम् । देहावसाने इदमेव जाप्यं,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ७ ॥ सुख के अन्त में यही सार है, दुःख के अन्त में यही गाने योग्य है, और शरीर का अन्त होने के समय यही जपने योग्य है, हे गोविन्द! हे दामोदर! हे माधव॥ 7 ॥ श्री कृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश,गोपाल गोवर्धन - नाथ विष्णो । जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ८ ॥ हे जिह्वा तू इन्हीं अमृतमय नामों का रसपान कर, श्री कृष्ण ,अतिप्रिय राधारानी, गोकुल के स्वामी गोपाल, गोवर्धननाथ, श्री विष्णु, गोविन्द, दामोदर, और माधव॥ 8 ॥ जिह्वे रसज्ञे मधुर - प्रियात्वं,सत्यम हितम् त्वां परं वदामि । आवर्णयेता मधुराक्षराणि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ९ ॥ हे जिह्वा, तुझे विभिन्न प्रकार के मिष्ठान प्रिय है, जो कि स्वाद में भिन्न-भिन्न है। मैं तुझे एक परम् सत्य कहता हूँ, जो की तेरे परम हित में है। केवल प्रभु के इन्हीं मधुर (मीठे), अमृतमय नामों का रसास्वादन कर, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 9 ॥ त्वामेव याचे मम देहि जिह्वे,समागते दण्ड - धरे कृतान्ते । वक्तव्यमेवं मधुरं सुभक्त्या ,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ १० ॥ हे जिह्वा, मेरी तुझसे यही प्रार्थना है, जब मेरा अंत समय आए, उस समय सम्पूर्ण समर्पण से इन्हीं मधुर नामों लेना, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 10 ॥ श्री नाथ विश्वेश्वर विश्व मूर्ते, श्री देवकी - नन्दन दैत्य - शत्रो । जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ११ ॥ हे प्रभु, सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड के स्वामी, विश्व के स्वरुप, देवकी नन्दन, दैत्यों के शत्रु, मेरी जिह्वा सदैव आपके अमृतमय नामों गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का रसपान करती है॥ 11 ॥

I reached here after watching an episode of Upanishad Ganga - Kotikaran ki katha. Was trying to find out these lines, जिव्हे पिबस्वा मृतमेव देव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥ While listening to this song, I just couldn't stop my tears. Realisation that I'm not this body, and all I want is union with Krishna, made my tears flow uncontrollably.
I'm sure Pandit ji would have got mukti from birth and rebirth cycle and been united with Krishna! Om Shanti!

अपने घर में ही सुख से शय्या पर शयन करते हुए भी जो लोग ‘हे गोविन्द ! हे दामोदर ! हे माधव !’ इन विष्णुभगवान के पवित्र नामों को निरन्तर कहते रहते हैं, वे निश्चय ही भगवान की तन्मयता प्राप्त कर लेते हैं।

Even the ordinary mortals comfortably seated at home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain (at least) the liberation of having a form similar to that of the Lord.

वटस्य पत्रस्य पुटे शयानम् ,बालम् मुकुंदम् मनसा स्मरामि ॥ १ ॥
वट वृक्ष के पत्तो पर विश्राम करते हुए, कमल के समान कोमल पैरो को, कमल के समान हस्त से पकड़कर, अपने कमलरूपी मुख में धारण किया है, मैं उस बाल स्वरुप भगवान श्री कृष्ण को मन में धारण करता हूं॥ 1 ॥
श्री कृष्ण गोविन्द हरे मुरारे,हे नाथ नारायण वासुदेव ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ २ ॥
हे नाथ, मेरी जिह्वा सदैव केवल आपके विभिन्न नामो (कृष्ण, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव.) का अमृतमय रसपान करती रहे॥ 2 ॥
विक्रेतु कामा किल गोप कन्या,मुरारि - पदार्पित - चित्त - वृति ।
दध्यादिकम् मोहवशाद वोचद्,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ३ ॥
गोपिकाएँ दूध, दही, माखन बेचने की इच्छा से घर से चली तो है, किन्तु उनका चित्त बालमुकुन्द (मुरारि) के चरणारविन्द में इस प्रकार समर्पित हो गया है कि, प्रेम वश अपनी सुध-बुध भूलकर “दही लो दही” के स्थान पर जोर-जोर से गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव आदि पुकारने लगी है ॥ 3 ॥
गृहे गृहे गोप वधु कदम्बा,सर्वे मिलित्व समवाप्य योगम् ।
पुण्यानी नामानि पठन्ति नित्यम्,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ४ ॥
घर-घर में गोपिकाएँ विभिन्न अवसरों पर एकत्र होकर, एक साथ मिलकर, सदैव इसी उत्तमोतम, पुण्यमय, श्री कृष्ण के नाम का स्मरण करती है, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 4 ॥
सुखम् शयाना निलये निजेपि,नामानि विष्णो प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः ।
ते निश्चितम् तनमय - ताम व्रजन्ति,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ५ ॥
साधारण मनुष्य अपने घर पर आराम करते हुए भी, भगवान श्री कृष्ण के इन नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से ही, भगवान के स्वरुप को प्राप्त होता है॥ 5 ॥
जिह्वे सदैवम् भज सुंदरानी, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहरानी ।
समस्त भक्तार्ति विनाशनानि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ६ ॥
है जिह्वा, तू भगवान श्री कृष्ण के सुन्दर और मनोहर इन्हीं नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण कर, जो भक्तों की समस्त बाधाओं का नाश करने वाले हैं॥ 6 ॥
सुखावसाने इदमेव सारम्,दुःखावसाने इद्मेव गेयम् ।
देहावसाने इदमेव जाप्यं,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ७ ॥
सुख के अन्त में यही सार है, दुःख के अन्त में यही गाने योग्य है, और शरीर का अन्त होने के समय यही जपने योग्य है, हे गोविन्द! हे दामोदर! हे माधव॥ 7 ॥
श्री कृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश,गोपाल गोवर्धन - नाथ विष्णो ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ८ ॥
हे जिह्वा तू इन्हीं अमृतमय नामों का रसपान कर, श्री कृष्ण ,अतिप्रिय राधारानी, गोकुल के स्वामी गोपाल, गोवर्धननाथ, श्री विष्णु, गोविन्द, दामोदर, और माधव॥ 8 ॥
जिह्वे रसज्ञे मधुर - प्रियात्वं,सत्यम हितम् त्वां परं वदामि ।
आवर्णयेता मधुराक्षराणि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ९ ॥
हे जिह्वा, तुझे विभिन्न प्रकार के मिष्ठान प्रिय है, जो कि स्वाद में भिन्न-भिन्न है। मैं तुझे एक परम् सत्य कहता हूँ, जो की तेरे परम हित में है। केवल प्रभु के इन्हीं मधुर (मीठे), अमृतमय नामों का रसास्वादन कर, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 9 ॥
त्वामेव याचे मम देहि जिह्वे,समागते दण्ड - धरे कृतान्ते ।
वक्तव्यमेवं मधुरं सुभक्त्या ,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ १० ॥
हे जिह्वा, मेरी तुझसे यही प्रार्थना है, जब मेरा अंत समय आए, उस समय सम्पूर्ण समर्पण से इन्हीं मधुर नामों लेना, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 10 ॥
श्री नाथ विश्वेश्वर विश्व मूर्ते, श्री देवकी - नन्दन दैत्य - शत्रो ।

This Sanskrit Bhajan (devotinal poetry) has been composed 800-years ago by Shrimna (Lilashuka) Bilva Mangal Thakur Maharaj.
Pandit Jasraj has very beautifully sung selected (choicest) verses from a literature of 300 (tri-shatakam) sanskrit sholaks by the learned devotee of Govind. Pandit Jasraj has set a benchmark for the world of music and devotion, in this work. The legendary singing is beyond compare!!!
Bilva Mangal Thakur, the scholar devotee (poet) has put the taste of transcendental sweetness in the childhood pastimes of Lord Mukundam, when His Holiness has been revealing the glories and all attractiveness, of Supreme Madhava.
Yes, the mangalcharan (the starting first verse) Pandit ji has taken from "ashtakam", one of the eight verses by the same learned scholar of Bhakti Rasa (divine love, ecstasy) in the Sanskit.❤
करारविन्देन पदार्विन्दं, मुखार्विन्दे विनिवेश यन्तम्। वटस्य पत्रस्य पुटे शयानं, बालं मुकुन्दं मनसा स्मरामि॥

I remember the infant Mukunda, Who sleeps inside a hollow Banyan leaf and Who by His lotus-hands, is putting His lotus-feet in His lotus-mouth.
श्री कृष्ण गोविन्द हरे मुरारे, हे नाथ नारायण वासुदेव। जिव्हे पिबस्वा अमृतं एतद एव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
2) Shri Krishna govinda hare murare he natha narayana vasudeva jihve pibasvamritam etad eva govinda damodara madhaveti “Shri Krishna! Govinda! Hari! Murari! O Lord, Narayana, Vasudeva!” O tongue, please drink only this nectar-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!”
विक्रेतु कामा अखिल गोपकन्या, मुरारि पादार्पित चित्त वृतिः। दधि आदिकं मोहावशाद अवोचद्, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
3) vikretukama kila gopa-kanya murari-padarpita-citta-vrittih dadhyadikam mohavashad avocad govinda damodara madhaveti
Though desiring to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of a young gopi was so absorbed in the lotus feet of Krishna that instead of calling out “Milk for sale,” she bewilderedly said, “Govinda!”, Damodara!”, and “Madhava!”
गृहे-गृहे गोपवधू कदम्बा:, सर्वे मिलित्वा समवाप्य योगम्। पुण्यानि नामानि पठन्ति नित्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
4) grihe grihe gopa-vadhu-kadambah sarve militva samavaya-yoge punyani namani pathanti nityam govinda damodara madhaveti
In house after house, groups of cowherd ladies gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krishna-”Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.”
सुखं शयाना निलये निजेऽपि, नामानि विष्णोः प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः। ते निश्चितं तन्मयतमां व्रजन्ति, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
5) sukham shayana nilaye nije ‘pi namani vishnoh pravadanti martyah te nishcitam tanmayatam vrajanti govinda damodara madhaveti
Even the ordinary mortals comfortably seated at home who chant the names of Vishnu, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” certainly attain (at least) the liberation of having a form similar to that of the Lord.
जिह्वे सदैवं भज सुन्दराणि, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहराणि। समस्त भक्ताःअति विनाशनानि, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
6) jihve sadaivam bhaja sundarani namani krishnasya manoharani samasta-bhaktarti-vinashanani govinda damodara madhaveti
O my tongue, just always worship these beautiful, enchanting names of Krishna, “Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava,” which destroy all the obstacles of the devotees.
सुख अवसाने इदमेव सारं, दुःखावसाने इदमेव ज्ञेयम्। देह अवसाने इदमेव जाप्यं, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥
7) sukhavasane tu idam eva saram duhkhavasane tv idam eva geyam dehavasane tv idam eva japyam govinda damodara madhaveti
This indeed is the essence (found) upon ceasing the affairs of mundane happiness. And this too is to be sung after the cessation of all sufferings. This alone is to be chanted at the time of death of one’s material body-”Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!”
श्री कृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश, गोपाल गोवर्धन नाथ विष्णो। जिह्वे पिबस्वा अमृतं एतद एव, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥

O tongue, drink only this nectar (of the names), “Shri Krishna, dearmost of Shrimati Radharani, Lord of Gokula, Gopala, Lord of Govardhana, Vishnu, Govinda, Damodara,” and “Madhava.”
त्वामेव याचे मम् देहि जिह्वे, समागते दण्डधरे कृतान्ते। वक्तव्यमं एवं मधुरम सुभक्तया, गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति॥

O my tongue, I ask only this of you, that at my meeting the bearer of the sceptre of chastisement (Yamaraja), you will utter this sweet phrase with great devotion: “Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!”

P.S. Raaga = Nat-Bhairav; Thaat (music notes family) = Bhairav; Taal = Kaharva; Time : Morning (6am-9am); Season : all seasons.❤
N.B. Nat Bhairav is basically a morning raaga. NAT-BHAIRAV is one of the few raagas which could be sung in all the seasons. The raaga reflects the mood of slight pathos with heroic exuberance. 🎉

Divine. I was blessed to listen to this live at Sawai Gandharv Music Festival in Pune in early 2000. Dont remember exact year. Pt Jasrajji ended his performance with this bhajan. That was magical. RIP Panditaji 🙏

The literature well known as the "Krishna Karnamrita", between the core Vaishnavism has been hand picked by Lord Krishna Chaitanya Himself, 500 years ago. This literature is a nutshell form of Lord Krishna's infinite Pastimes with His select devotees.
Indian Devotional Musicology has given this literature a very glorifying place in shashtric music domain, especially since 1950, after the Raaga Nat-Bhairav has been rediscovered by Pt.Ravi Shankar. The listeners can feel the very purport of the bhajan without knowing the sanskrit language in the Raaga.

वट वृक्ष के पत्तो पर विश्राम करते हुए, कमल के समान कोमल पैरो को, कमल के समान हस्त से पकड़कर, अपने कमलरूपी मुख में धारण किया है, मैं उस बाल स्वरुप भगवान श्री कृष्ण को मन में धारण करता हूं॥ 1 ॥

सुखम् शयाना निलये निजेपि,नामानि विष्णो प्रवदन्ति मर्त्याः ।
ते निश्चितम् तनमय - ताम व्रजन्ति,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ५ ॥
साधारण मनुष्य अपने घर पर आराम करते हुए भी, भगवान श्री कृष्ण के इन नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से ही, भगवान के स्वरुप को प्राप्त होता है॥ 5 ॥
जिह्वे सदैवम् भज सुंदरानी, नामानि कृष्णस्य मनोहरानी ।
समस्त भक्तार्ति विनाशनानि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ६ ॥
है जिह्वा, तू भगवान श्री कृष्ण के सुन्दर और मनोहर इन्हीं नामो, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का स्मरण कर, जो भक्तों की समस्त बाधाओं का नाश करने वाले हैं॥ 6 ॥
सुखावसाने इदमेव सारम्,दुःखावसाने इद्मेव गेयम् ।
देहावसाने इदमेव जाप्यं,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ७ ॥
सुख के अन्त में यही सार है, दुःख के अन्त में यही गाने योग्य है, और शरीर का अन्त होने के समय यही जपने योग्य है, हे गोविन्द! हे दामोदर! हे माधव॥ 7 ॥
श्री कृष्ण राधावर गोकुलेश,गोपाल गोवर्धन - नाथ विष्णो ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ८ ॥
हे जिह्वा तू इन्हीं अमृतमय नामों का रसपान कर, श्री कृष्ण ,अतिप्रिय राधारानी, गोकुल के स्वामी गोपाल, गोवर्धननाथ, श्री विष्णु, गोविन्द, दामोदर, और माधव॥ 8 ॥
जिह्वे रसज्ञे मधुर - प्रियात्वं,सत्यम हितम् त्वां परं वदामि ।
आवर्णयेता मधुराक्षराणि,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ९ ॥
हे जिह्वा, तुझे विभिन्न प्रकार के मिष्ठान प्रिय है, जो कि स्वाद में भिन्न-भिन्न है। मैं तुझे एक परम् सत्य कहता हूँ, जो की तेरे परम हित में है। केवल प्रभु के इन्हीं मधुर (मीठे), अमृतमय नामों का रसास्वादन कर, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 9 ॥
त्वामेव याचे मम देहि जिह्वे,समागते दण्ड - धरे कृतान्ते ।
वक्तव्यमेवं मधुरं सुभक्त्या ,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ १० ॥
हे जिह्वा, मेरी तुझसे यही प्रार्थना है, जब मेरा अंत समय आए, उस समय सम्पूर्ण समर्पण से इन्हीं मधुर नामों लेना, गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव॥ 10 ॥
श्री नाथ विश्वेश्वर विश्व मूर्ते, श्री देवकी - नन्दन दैत्य - शत्रो ।
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव,गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥ ११ ॥
हे प्रभु, सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड के स्वामी, विश्व के स्वरुप, देवकी नन्दन, दैत्यों के शत्रु, मेरी जिह्वा सदैव आपके अमृतमय नामों गोविन्द, दामोदर, माधव का रसपान करती है॥ 11 ॥
