We recently sat down with Detroit artist NASAAN for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he talked about being born in Detroit, moving to Florida when he was 7 years old when his dad Big Proof passed, then moving to the Southside of Atlanta when he was 10, his transition coming to Atlanta & losing his dad, researching who his dad when he was 13, not wanting to be a rapper at first, reveals artists he grew up listening to, dropping his first song while in the 9th grade, explains how he was discovered by Paul Rosenberg, signing to Def Jam, reveals his experience being signed there, lessons he learned while being signed, getting dropped, starting to shoot his own music videos, getting signed to Atlantic Records, being a big fan of Bankroll Fresh, recalls his first time meeting Royce Da 5’9”, locking in with Royce who is now like a mentor for him, recording his new single “Goated” in 2021, the song being played on ESPN during the NBA Playoffs, explains the concept for the music video, feeling like his dad is being very proud of him right now, the backlash for his new music video “Devil To Atlanta”, his upcoming project ‘Error 404’, producing most of his own songs, working with Big Sean, hints at upcoming music with Eminem, short term & long term goals, and much more!

Fuck you talking about? Royce and Proof was extremely close they even had their own duo group as well in the early days. The falling out came years after Em and Proof started working on D-12 again after Royce just left Em and Proof to dry leaving for Tommy Boy. Proof and Royce ended up squashing the beef after being arrested during a scuffle with guns pulled. They talked it out in their cells and the whole beef was squashed between most of D-12. Proof, Swifty and Kuniva. Royce remained cool with most of them right until Proofs passing. Him and Eminem Bizarre and Mr.Porter still weren’t totally cool and Royce was caught talking slick yet again about them and by that time Cashis got involved and threatened to violate him. He checked Royce which forced Royce to get on a call with Em, Bizzy and Porter. Royce getting on that call and finally squashing the rest of the beef was done in Proofs name. Eventually leading to D-12 bringing Royce, Crook, Joell and Buddens and convincing them to form Slaughterhouse on the Never Say Never tour which lead to them being signed to Shady Rec. Shit was made all official and reunited Detroit full circle. Royce would then also collaborate many times while becoming friends with Cashis many times after signing to Shady Rec and then he also became cool with 50 finally too at the same time.
