That took longer to start than my 1976 450SE does!! Mine needs a new fuel system accumulator. I've got one. I just need to install it. When I do that job, I'll also replace the fuel hoses by making my own, using the existing fittings, & new clamps.
Just the fact that this Mercedes is running from the 70s with over 300,000. miles is amazing. My father has a 97 BMW Z3 with 65k on it so it's not even broken in yet. Probably will not get over 100k in it's lifetime if he is the only driver lol. Take care of your car and many of them will last for over 200,000 plus thousand miles easily...
It really is impressive! I actually have a 97 Z3 (2.8L) and it has 108,000 miles. Had it over a year now. It's strong as ever and so far quite reliable
My R107 450SL 1976 has 163.000 miles and starts first time and drives very smooth. Over the 10 years of ownership I’ve done some cosmetic work interior and exterior. Would not want to sell it.
My Mercedes R 107.45 's Odometer stopped working in 1994 at 152 K so I'm sure there is 330 K at least on my Midnight Blue Deutsche Masterpiece of Style, workmanship and Engineering as well !
@@HighMileageReviews Every time I get an alert from my local pick n pull about the arrival of a R 107 the cluster is already gone by the time I arrive, and it is two miles from my house here in VB. VA.
My project car 1980 450SL is trash, but I bought it for $2000 - I will have well over that in upgrades, but the body is pristine. I have a 1962 corvette 327 engine to swap in, and along with a 5 speed standard trans it should fly low - the original seats are trashed - but some aftermarket buckets will dump 200 lb of dead weight. There is another 200 lb to easily drop - that bumper BS to begin with.... suck those park benches in and bolt them directly to the body. It's a project
This is a fantastic video. Consider yourself subscribed and publicized! You should look forward to RUclips's algorithm contributing plentiful nickels and quarters to your worthy channel. At least until RCR finds this place. Then you'll move up to entire pesos and dinars.
Thanks! I sure hope you're right. I'd love for the RUclips algorithm to bless me with its dark magic. I'd be beyond pleased to achieve the level of popularity that RCR has. Maybe someday!
have 320.000 km with my 1986 300sl and it is still running superbly:)
Wonderful!
Beautiful! My dad had a 560 SL when I was growing up and I just reviewed a 1973 R107 this summer. Great car and great video!
Thank you! And those 560's are really the holy grail of the R107. You're very lucky!
Well done as always! I love classic Mercedes
Thank you! I love them, too. So classy
Love the VHS effects!😄👌
I watched many car ads from the 70s to get it just right 😉
@@HighMileageReviews It shows! A+
It made my day to see a new video from you. Keep em coming please.
Thanks! And I plan to! There are a handful of videos in the works as we speak. And very special ones at that

Yeah haha it seemed to struggle with a warm start-up. Is that a common behavior for these older Mercedes? What causes it?

Keep it for as long as you can! They're wonderful cars
Thanks, This was fun making. The Mercedes is still available and for sale.
It was a pleasure. I hope someone buys it soon. It's a solid classic!
Love the 450SL, mine is a ‘79 and every day driver
Awesome! Keep that classic alive
What's your favorite generation of Mercedes SL? Discuss!
R129 SL600 *Chef's kiss
This car is almost too good for this channel imho..but I guess it's quality (when Mercedes stood for quality that is). Nice review!
They can't all be destroyed and dilapidated!
The mom joke really caught me off guard lol
She is quite dry

What's more impressive is that you haven't fixed your odometer after nearly 20 years 😁

Are these cars easy to work on?
I can't say. I have no experience working on them
