Enjoyed your discussion here in Sinhala. Well-balanced and impartial with lots of good facts. Just for your info 7:50 you are 100% right. It is the govt and laws forcing people to play nice... the reason why we have to share kids in a separation or divorce situations is not because Canadians care about their children, but because our laws are pro-children and punishments for violation of child custody can cost both parents a lot of money. I am speaking of over $20K+ in legal fees and stuff. It is not a mutual understanding but rather financial and legal issues. Nothing to do with ethics but to do with money $$$$. Many new immigrants here in Canada think that Canadian society or Western societies are better than our communities. If laws in Sri Lanka are strong and applied properly, Sri Lankan separated families with children would act the same. Just the last week there is a Canada-wide arrest warrant issued by courts for a father who failed to give child access to children's mother. Also, just like in our South Asian community, people are people. People lie a lot about family issues, relationship issues, etc. just to show a nice outlook to the outside world.
