This song is simply a masterpiece~ I loved it since the first time I listened to it, you can clearly recognize Yoko Shimomura's style and that's definitely a good thing! A few months ago I thought about including this in my last FF album but I never learned it so I couldn't record it haha
I tried recording this yesterday but the audio clipped since the gain of the mic was too high (it's hard to balance the gain when the song includes both pianissimo and super fortissimo parts!), so I recorded this today again~ My hands and fingers hurt after so many takes, but it was worth it (and I'm happy I didn't break any piano strings lol)

P.S: I removed a few notes at 2:52 just to make that part more playable, I don't think the result changes that much!

Holy shit. Finally! A cover that brings the original back to life! I've tried multiple covers of this song on the piano, but none of them have really resonated with the original... But this one. Oh boy, this one hits the spot exactly. Thank you for this!

Shimomura deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Uematsu. This and “Luna” is as good as anything the latter has written 😍

Although I liked the additions of the Royal Pack, this theme - as it was played before in the whole area - suits Insomnia more IMO, carrying the sadness and tragedy of the characters and the whole situation much better, as the once lively city is nothing but a shiny graveyard now.
Every time I hear Somnus I remember the first versus 13 trailer. (I was hyped since and disappointed be the final product). Awesome performance BTW

It really is, I've always loved Nobuo Uematsu music but since her work in Kingdom Hearts, I've absolute adore her compositional style, she's definitely one of my favourite composers!
@@MoisesNieto i'd say she's up there with uematsu honestly, they're both geniuses. she may not have AS much adaptability as he does, but i think the fact that you can always recognize her beethoven-inspired style is not a bad thing at all. i love her work in kingdom hearts, mario and luigi, and pretty much everything else she's done. it's iconic. but i probably consider ffxv her greatest masterpiece. the final portion of magna insomnia still gives me chills every time

It's the cheapest decent baby grand I could find haha, it's a nice one for its price (although mine had a few problems with some tuning pins, I think it only affected my piano lol). If it's too expensive, then you should look an upright piano!
