@joshuad007 First from poonamallee to porur and will be extended further till powerhouse later. Atlast the train has to go to the DEPOT(poonamallee). For example you cannot build and operate trains between Valasarawakkam and Vadapalani ONLY because of the lack of DEPOT. Hope you understood it.
Vadapalani is an exception I guess. Unlike other interchange stations, the other line is not in the same building but in a different structure. I guess the flyover wont be able to withstand another line hence this decision. Or I may be wrong.
Yes ,you are right because since there is already flyover for vehicles in the base. If they need to add another layer the pier work should be stronger. Basic idea is pier will be 4 or 6 . But if 3 flyover the pier work will be 8 or more and will take big space. And since new layer should be added the old vadapalani metro should stop,till construction. Too much money and time waste.
