Revelation is a "lens" that puts the entire Bible into focus. The lens is focused on the person of Jesus Christ, and his destiny is imminent. This is a book of victory: We are overcomers! We are the ultimate winners in the game of life! (I read the ending: we win!)
One of the reasons this book strikes us as strange is because of our lack of understanding concerning the Old Testament. The Book of Revelation consists of 404 verses that contain over 800 allusions to the Old Testament. The Eternal God is Creator and Salvation from before the foundation of the world!
Israel is God’s idea to save the world from sin and damnation through His Son Yeshua Hamaschiach who came in the flesh to a people of Jewish ethnicity, a tribe, a nation named Israel, in a city called Jerusalem where the Eternal God put His Name forever.

Have you read John 1? The Book of John is a good book to read expounding upon Jesus the Christ.
Also, look up 1 Peter 1:16-21.
Read Isaiah 6 - a stunning account by Isaiah of God’s throne. Just one of several between the Old and New Testaments.
And Genesis 3 where Moses had an encounter with Jehovah (“God’s proper name).
In John 8:58 He ruffled feathers of the Jews when He said He is “I am”. A term used only for Jehovah (“God”).
There is so much to learn from both the Old and New Testaments. The New Testament makes more “sense” with the Old Testament as it shows the fulfillment of prophecies concerning Jesus.
I hope this helps you. As awkward as sometimes the KJV can be to read because of the older English sentence structures, it really will help you.
Read John.
Just read and read the Word. I hand copy many chapters because it helps. Read out loud so you can read and hear it. I also have been known to use a pointer for reading so I don’t just take off reading and not paying attention.
It is crucial to verify your concerns about Jehovah (“God”) and Jesus Christ. These days are showing like many prophecies we’ve been told by Jehovah as to what the end times will look like. Salvation is to be saved from the wrath of the Lamb and Jehovah. That is where the Revelation “of” Jesus Christ comes into reality, revealing Him for what was foretold.
There are many verses I could give you but, read the Word.
Acts 17 start at verse 16 - is where Paul gave a sermon on Mars Hill as they had an altar entitled “to the unknown god”. Paul explained to them what they were missing.
