A dancer and raver first, Afrooz is a DJ and mixed media visual artist. Born in Vancouver and raised between Vancouver and Tehran, she finally found her true home in her late teens, on the dance floor at a rave. Growing up in a musical household filled with traditional Persian music and instruments, she started dancing before she could walk and was curating music long before touching DJ decks.
Her musical adventures led her to Toronto, where she threw dance parties in Kensington Market and made her club debut at Wiggle Room Toronto. Drawn to a vast continuum of sounds -deep, warm, playful, or haunting and melancholic- she craves sounds that captivate the depths of the psyche and shake your body uncontrollably.
