The best striker I've ever seen in my life. His positioning and anticipation second to none had a exceptional first touch and his second touch was usually a goal. Phenomenal striker.

But I’ll breakdown for your slow ass brain why Nistelrooy was arguably considered one of the greatest strikers if not (the greatest striker inside the box)
Look at players like Messi , CR7 And one of my fav Henry And imo the greatest player of all time R9
All these players needed to create a space in order to score Ruud didn’t care of how narrow the way to the goal is or how stacked with defenders it was he needed 1/4 chance of what normal player needed to score
His technique and ball control and accuracy inside the box was truly unmatched

Henry and Ronaldo play like a wide foward, Messi is a terquista or No.10 but so much of a classic No.10, Ronaldo de Lima has never been a classic No.9 and he's also suffer alot from injuries and party every week which make him unable to keep his best form for too long

players like Ruud are always underrated because they are remembered for scoring a lot of tap ins. People don't recognize the brains it takes to be on the end of a cross like Ruud was, and he sure had speed, dribles and long shots as well

Yes, this is how the word underrated should be used. Ruud was definitely a lot more skillful than people think who only remembered him as a goal poacher.

Probably the best finisher man utd ever had. Ruud van nistelrooy was a legend and one of the greatest premier league strikers of all time. Got 95 premier league goals, had he not got injured in 04/05, he would of probably been over 120.

He is underrated cause of Van Basten silly comparision. Best striker of 2000-2005 years in my opinion, a true killer.

I saw them both in their prime and in my opinion Ruud was better. I remember when I first saw him for United on his debut match, I said he was the best classic Nr9 striker I have ever seen. And I still feel that way.

A true legend! an unique player. As a 9 only few can say they played as much, none can say they played better.
I underrated him for years but I see a stronger and bigger version of Romario. It's a lie that he only tapped in. He was briliant king of penalty area like Romario, Pauleta. These players rarely scored from outside the box but their positioning and ball control was amazing. Btw positioning is the most underrated skill in football nowadays.

A Lot of those goals wouldnt be possible without amazing technique either, it's not just positioning, he was really fast, quick ok his feet, knew how to control perfectly the ball with his body and was resolutive in reduced spaces, all that combined are his skills as a player

@Ron P I don't consider half of the strikers you mentioned as technical like Trezeguet ,Vieri ,Toni and Inzaghi...not sure they could shoot with outside of the foot...1-2 of them could not hit properly with laces aswell.

Glad to see Ruud did so well in the great ManU era and also after that. A big contributor to his success is the Dutch manager Foppe de Haan of Ruuds former club SC Heerenveen. Ruud considered himself to be a midfielder, but at SC Heerenveen they turned him into one of the best strikers the world has seen.

@DDeglane16 If we look at the stats, the average goals scored is pretty much the same. So if defenders got worse, so did attackers.
My theory is both got better over time.
