This is the first video that I've watched of yours Paul, but this is really excellent work. Clear, concise and with great use of effects to demonstrate your points. I'll definitely be watching more of these in future.
Another great video. It was one of the reasons why I did by Codenames Duet in the end. I had my eye on it for a while, but only when I saw how simple the rules were, did I buy it, so my wife and I could play it. We've played it almost every night since... so thank you for the rules video.
This video was really useful. I got the game to play with my mother, and it's really fun, even though we can't communicate to save our lives. She always gets mad if I don't get what she is describing, and I am always scared that she will throw me out of the house if I fail.. hahaha
Thanks James. If people know how to play base Codenames, then this should cover everything. You could even just show them the vid up to 06:48 and then watch the rest of it when (IF) they succeed :)
Really good video, Paul. I think you need to increase your rates for sure! I'll be getting this game to add to complete the codenames collection so far.
Interesting! So other than that clever little tip about using the assassin locations on your card to figure out what they are on the other side, there is no relationship between the two sides during the game, is there? I mean, each round is almost like its own separate game of Codenames, and when it's one person's turn to guess, they need to pretty much ignore what they know about their own side of the card?
3 of the agents are the same too. That's kind of an advanced tip though and you can rarely use it to your advantage. But sometimes you can, so it is useful to know.
Melvin Yong my first reply to someone who said it was too easy is that they must be playing it wrong :) But if you’ve watched the video, then you must be playing it right :) You adjust the difficulty by visiting the other cities. The average success rate for Prague on people first game is 20%. Your definitely using up 1 time token per round?
I came here after your stream yesterday only to learn, that I should watch tutorial for the original game first :( Ok, I'll learn about both :) but your link at around 0:30 points to this vid itself, not to the original guide (if you care to fix it 3.5 years later :D )
lol. Will fix that. I did however, create two Codenames Duet videos. One if you already knew how to play Codenames, and another if you are completely new to it. This is the full one: ruclips.net/video/VRAx-Yl1Aoc/видео.html I will fix the link. Thanks!
@@GamingRulesVideos Ah I'm sorry. I misunderstood. I thought it ought to take me to Codenames guide, not another Codenames: Duet vid, with exact same title (which made me think it's exact same vid, eventhough your shirt change color) :D After watching both guide and first live stream (+2nd truly live yesterday), game's on my wishlist now ;) I am fairily new to this channel and you've already made me interested in two games (Vindication is 2nd one) … that's an achievement, to make me go for a word game, when English is a foreign language to me :P
Hello! So I am still confused on the assasin part of the game. When you covered sphinx you said it was an assasin on the other side but an agent on your side so wouldn't that end the game?
Correct. When YOU are making guesses, it is only on MY side of the grid that matters. If for example, Sphinx was an Assassin on YOUR side. That means that if I ever guess Sphinx, we lose. But if YOU guess Sphinx, it doesn't matter what it is on your side, it matters what it is on MY side. In this case - an Agent. Hope that helps.
This is the first time I have understood how this game is going to work. I feel much more confident in buying a copy now. Thanks!
Thanks Simon. I'm glad it helped.
I agree ..this explanation is so clear and precise. Thank u

Thanks for the comment. Hope you find some of the other videos useful!

My friend and I were having a terrible time trying to figure out how to play this v. standard codenames but this video helped us so much! Thank you!
Nice work on the key card visual effects. Definitely helped show how the assassins work in this version.
Thanks Tom. I experimented with a few different methods, and settled on this one in the end.
This looks a lot more interesting than I first thought! I'll definitely pick it up at some point.
Thanks, after watching 5 videos on this game, yours is the first one that really helped me fully understand the game :)
Clear, helpful explanation and just the right amount of strategy tips. Excellent video! Thanks!
Thanks. Glad you found it useful :)
Thanks for the brief and clear explanation. Will play the game today for the first time!
Excellent job once again. Looking forward to playing this.
Christopher Incao thanks Chris hope you enjoy the game when you get your hands on it.
This is a very nice clear explanation. Just bought for my wife’s birthday. I’ve subscribed!
It was the most useful video explanation of the game play
Great job on the rules explanation, will definitely be using this when I receive my copy of the game.

sounds like a good idea to me.
I watched this so I could better understand the Harry Potter Codenames. Thanks!
extremely well explained!
Best explanation. Thanks!
Excellent, clear explanation. Thank you!
Really good video, Paul. I think you need to increase your rates for sure! I'll be getting this game to add to complete the codenames collection so far.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the game. It's currently my favourite way to play Codenames.
nice , nice , that's a good explanation. understanding is a key )))

Thanks Cersei :) P.S. Your time will come ;)
Great explanation and video as always. Is that the tree you ran into in the Codenames:Pictures video in the background?
I wouldn't have called it a tree - its a pot plant from my house - but yes, well spotted. That's the reason why I put it in the film :) Foliage: 1
Great job, i'm a bit confused, but it's just me... seems like a lot more thinking than the original. Peace
Clumsy Dad it's not just you. It definitely is a bit more thinky than the original.
Very useful. Thank you :)
check out those caterpillars!
nice concise video thanks
Looks pretty funky. Now I just need to convince the wife to play!
Hopefully you can. It's a great game for couples.
I've just purchased this game and it was way easier than I thought it would be. Are there any tips to increase difficulty level?
Melvin Yong my first reply to someone who said it was too easy is that they must be playing it wrong :)

You adjust the difficulty by visiting the other cities.
The average success rate for Prague on people first game is 20%. Your definitely using up 1 time token per round?
Guessing a bystander ends your turns but also costs you an extra turn because you "use up" a timer token?
Exactly. If you just "pass", you use up 1 timer token, but if you hit a bystander, you effectively use 2 timer tokens.
@@GamingRulesVideos Ooh. Risky.
The game has En#1 and En#2 decks, can I mix them or not ?
Thank you!!
Brilliant. I'll buy it.

Actually, that link points to the OTHER Codenames Duet video - the one to watch if you don't know the original game

Isn't "Cleopatra" an Assasin @Gaming Rules! ?
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand. Could you explain?
I got it right up until you said about the 9-9 thing and flipping over the bystander cards.
Same. How do you know which card to put the 2 bystander penalty tiles
Hi
Looks good, how I wish it wasn't that vivid green colour though
Green is the bosses favourite colour :)
seems hard!
It is. Takes a few games to get used to it.
my /head /hurts!!!!
Sorry not helpful at all
