This k drama have 3 things that make me keep on watching. 1.A mother who loves your son's,husband and her servants.2.She is always one step ahead of everyone and 3. She kicks her very wicked mother in law's royal butt.Just loves this drama!
What I like is that she isnt evil . Like most historical dramas, the queen tends to lord over the others, evwn to extend of being sinister, as if she is always afraid to lose her position
after watching this series, i also watched 3 series of the female protagonist - juvenile justice, the queen of office, hyena....and now will start with signal... cant get enough of Kim Hye Soo superb portrayal of characters❤
Kim Hye-soo as The Queen gave such an outstanding performance in this drama, I loved the fact she was so clever & fair. As Queen with so many Consorts, she could have easily descended into a power-driven way of life that reduced her to a jealous harpy but she didn't & rose above every single unfairness to love & care for her children & husband. I will add though that I thought the acting was excellent throughout the cast, with so many really credible performances that brought this story to life.
Consort Hwang and Prince Uiseong were as terrible as the king's mother and becoming commoners is a very easy punishment in some ways , they did many crimes but the king couldn't kill his son and the queen promised fromer queen Yun that she will give her a reason to live again after she lost all her children ( her grandchild's safety) ......... Consort Hwang lost her mind losing her father , lover and royal statue but Prince Uiseong living in peace out of his former character that why the queen trusted that he is still smart and strong enough to save his mother from her mental illness
In one of the episodes, the queen seemingly was doing an Heimlich maneuver on the grand Prince. Heimlich maneuver was instituted in the 70s and yet the drama series was done in the Joseon period. What the xoxo?
actually spoiler alert here, i am on my 7th episode already and anxious about what will happen next. honestly i watched 3 episodes everynight because every episodes had almost 1 hour so it was almost midnight after i finished it.
Actually it happens in ALL historical dramas. As the children and grandchildren are from different mothers, theres a lot of back stabbing for positional power
@@deanneshane3799 Yes, it's a totally toxic way of living. Any culture/cult where there are multiple wives & children eventually brings about jealousies & underhanded one-upmanship, it's an inevitable result of such dysfunction.

Poorly written. No grandmother wants to kill all her grandchildren. Maybe the writers have had bad experiences with grandmothers.
Perhaps you should study the history of Joseon or any history of any countries to learn about the ruthlessness of people of that period.
