"I'm Still Here" has been gaining attention especially after Fernanda Torres' win at the Golden Globes. And the fact that it was released in theaters recently and received great reviews made it a good time for this Oscar nomination. In addition, Latino voters in large numbers are campaigning for it instead of "Emilia Pérez."
The fact that "I'm Still Here" isn't competing for best adapted screenplay while "Emília Perez", with all the problems surrounding it, is a joke. They made a film for foreigners to open their mouths and be shocked, but Latinos and trans people are finding it embarrassing.
@@VicenteTorresAliasVits She is referring to I'm Still Here. The film needed to be watched by Academy members in order to stand a chance of earning any nominations. This is very challenging because the film is from Brazil/Latin America, and, well... Latin America is almost invisible to North America. The Golden Globe award for Fernanda and the massive campaign by Brazilians on social media probably had some impact, and enough Academy members ended up watching it. For the film to have made it into the most important category, it must have greatly surprised the voters. Not even Brazilians expected I'm Still Here to appear on the Best Picture list-they were caught off guard. There's already a certain acceptance of the barriers created by prejudice.
You need to get out of the “Hollywood” bubble and watch real Cinema. I’m Still Here is a masterpiece, it should’ve been nominated for best adapted screenplay, best director and best cinematography. But since they couldn’t do that due to the studios, they did it justice by nominating it for Best Picture. I suggest you watch it. Anora and The Substance are the other good ones on that list. The rest is more of the same.
When I saw you get worked up about Nominees To Be Determined in the Best Animation category, I knew it was going to get entertaining during Best Picture. 🤣
Happy that I'm Still Here received recognition and Fernanda Torres continued to win the Best Actress award, I'm rooting for her🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
"Oh what a relief, I mean, could you imagine that?" In fact I could imagine, I dreamed of the day when the world didn't give a damn about that trash movie.
As a Latin American person, I'm not voting for Emila Pérez. It's a stereotypical movie about Mexico (and Latin America in general) and It doesn't represent our culture. I just hate it!! I'm voting for I'm Still Here for what it means in times of autocracy and right-wing parties in control all around the world.
You are so wr9ng about nominations im still here is getting. Just check it out. Besides the awards, in venice film festival, the movie had 14 minutes of applause unstopable
@VicenteTorresAliasVits you said there was no nominations but the movie won a lot in international film festivals around the world. Thats what i meant. In total the movie won 25 prizes, including best movie chose by the audience in many film festivals around the globe, critics choice of New York, 14 minutes of interrupted applauses in Venice…

Sony said: we just need enough members to see the film. And that's how it is, the quality is undeniable! Apparently they got enough members to see it!
See what?
@@VicenteTorresAliasVits Sorry, I confuse the verbs... To watch. Enough members of the academy watched the film.
