lived there in the 80's and went back for the first time after 30 something years in November 2022 and I can confirm that its become a sh*&le. How is it possible that functioning yet ill country (due to apartheid) disintegrated in such a way? One would expect that as soon as you extracted apartheid out of the equation there would be enough for everyone. Seems not. Just sheer destruction of a lovely country. Downtown Benoni nowadays looks like a warzone.
