Actually... Shri Ram returned to him homeland Ayodhya after 14 years of exile in forests, along with his wife Mata Sita and hish younger brother Lakshman.... He was the crown prince, later he went on an exile, in the forest itself he was crowned to be the King of Ayodhya (since his father demised in the grief of his exile) and his return after victory over the Rakshas King of Lanka (Current day Sri Lanka), Ravan, and winning back his captured wife, was like a very huge celebration for the citizens of Ayodhya, the return of their beloved King... They lit their homes with earthen lamps (Diya) that's why Diwali... Since Shri Ram is the an avtar of Bhagwan Vishnu (The nurturer) and his wife Mata Sita is Mata Lakshmi herself in human form (Mata Lakshmi is the Goddess of Wealth and prosperity, Bhagwan Vishnu's wife), hence we specially worship them on Diwali😊 Jai Shree Ram❤🙏
