    Bonjour Antoine, lorsque j'essaie de télécharger les fichiers du portail STScl|Mihulski Archive for Space Telescope ( MAST) Portal, en appuyant sur la disquette à la gauche du fichier, Safari m'affiche Fenêtre Contextuelle bloquée, donc impossible de télécharger.
    Une solution svp...

    • @GalacticHunter
      @GalacticHunter  2 года назад

      Je n'utilise pas Safari mais on dirait que le pop-up de téléchargement a été bloqué par soit un antivirus soit un bloqueur de publicité. Essaye de le faire soit sur Chrome (c'est ce que j'ai fait sans problème) ou en ouvrant une fenêtre privée/incognito et là je suppose que la fenêtre ne sera pas bloquée. Si tu as un antivirus ou un anti-pub, pause le sur le site MAST.

    I am wondering which image may belong to which filter? Please, do you have any idea or how did you solve that?
    Thanks and CS, Stephen

    • @GalacticHunter
      @GalacticHunter  2 года назад

      The files are named with the filter wavelength in there. Don't expect LRGBHSO because they're infrared. I made a video tutorial about processing the data which will be available this afternoon, it's a bit tricky but you'll find the answer in the video :) In short you have to look at the wavelengths for each filter and then input it all in PixelMath

    There's got to be a Windows friendly way of doing this. Terminal is a Linux program equivalent to Windows Command Prompt, but all this tutorial shows me how to do is using the Linux terminal. Can someone here tell me if Windows comes with equivalent software that I can run from the Command Prompt, to accomplish the same task of downloading the JW Telescope raw pics? Or does this REQUIRE Linux to do? Like do I need to find someone with a Linux box, and ask them to download it for me, and then send me the files on a USB stick (or upload it to a file sharing site like Google Drive)?

      Windows Subsytem for Linux, it's built into windows. Just gotta enable it.

  • @JSRJS

    So basically we'll have all the raw data and can use Pixinsight (for example) to process it however we wish just like it was the images we took. (ie stacking them all etc etc) correct?

    • @dgodiex

      they are already stacked and calibrated. For the rest, yes.

    Do i need to have Linux installed? when i try to execute the command in windows command prompt with Bash command it says, that i need curl to execute. But curl is already installed in windows. 😅or is there any direct command prompt sollution without the need of linux enviroment for windows? thank you

    • @florianschollbrock
      @florianschollbrock 2 года назад +1

      Okay i found the solution myself. If anyone else needs an advice, here is what you have to do. After downloading the Linux support for windows you need to download Debian from the Windows Store. Once downloaded you need to open debian app from windows and then download curl via the sudo command which can be found at any FAQ Site. as soon curl is installed you can close debian and simply use the normal terminal command in command prompt and it should download all files :)

    Hi Antoine, thanks for the instructions. However, 307 Gb of data for Carina seems excessive both in download time and hard drive space. Would you be as kind as to upload the Carina masters (the mosaics) for us to download and give it a try?
    I for one, would be more than grateful. Cheers and clear skies!

    I found the user manual, but having at least one video helping out is great.
    While I don't want to get the whole 307GB, I would be happy to get at least one 16bit monochrome image per channel. And there is like 8 of them.
    Will try it over the weekend. Hope my PC can process all the data, as I will make a crop of the Carina nebula

    You don't need the extra step of making the script executable. It is enough to type "sh ./jw02731_dl-cal.sh" to run it. And as this is a lot of data, it might not be started on you primary disk. :-)
