Started with Upendrokishor Ray Chowdhury, another gem in Bengali literature. This is a huge mystery for me as well. How come some one from this lineage could become such useless like Sandip Ray.

In the end, let me tell you that I have nothing personal against Sandip Ray. I am not even criticizing him as a director. As a Feluda admirer I am against his treatments with the character and his lackluster presentations. The day he realizes that and stops making Feluda films I will stop criticizing him for good.

sandip ray is such an over-rated filmmaker, infact a bad filmaker. His feluda films are disasters both in terms of aesthetics as well as justice to the spirit of the literature. His lens feel like telefilms the scale is so bad. I was watching "Kailashe Kelenkari" & suddenly an unpleasant senco gold jewellery add emerges. I felt like crying as an avid feluda fan. His dialogues are also timed in a bad fashion like bengalee TV serials & soaps, there is no space where characters would develop. I never felt any bonding of 'three musketeers'. As if actors have remembered the lines and vomiting it just for the sake of speaking. There is no genuine emotional turmoil and inherent tension (remember the knife throwing sequence in jbfn and thereafter the silent anger of feluda), essential for characters to be flourished & credible towards audience. And the sound design in feluda fights, so unpleasant! There is no moment anywhere what I can refer or revere. If somebody wants to understand moment, see sonar kella, the scene where feluda is standing beside the door of the train, against the light & calls "topse", cut back to topse (close up), cut to glance of the fort of Jaisalmer in the first rays of sunrise, feluda's voice emerges "SONAR KELLA" juxtaposed with slowing sound of a moving train (no background score), in a thrilling morning of winter! Similarly his observation to cultural observation to the background of the stories were almost non-existent. For an example remember how Ray (real one) used ambient sounds of Rajasthan and folk songs in Sonar Kella or even the sound of Kashi in JBFN. I saw Royal Bengal Rahasya, it was so disappointing. Anyone of you who grew up in North Bengal forest area can easily tell how much insincere the film is in depicting the ambience of jungle. What is most unfortunate is he didn't understand meaning of the word 'taritsprishto'. And then you see, Sandip Ray's poorly crafted feluda with action-reaction kind of stiff dialogues. THIS MAN MUST STOP RUINING HIS FATHER'S TREASURES, SERIOUSLY. JUST BECAUSE YOUR FATHER HAS GIVEN YOU THE RIGHTS OF HIS WRITING, DOES NOT AUTHORISE YOU TO RUIN IT WITH UTMOST INSINCERITY. Such a shame to bengalees (of nowadays) who lacks the spine to tell the truth.
I personally met him ! I am a struggler of bollywood ! People know sandip ray just bcoz of his father ! Nothing special in him ! He does not take after his father at all ! I also met with Anutag basu in mumbai ! I would say Anurag Sir is far more talented & humble person than Sandip Ray !
