    As a former centurylink employee. we get yelled at and written up for not forcing sales on people. It’s scummy business practices and the reason agents have to offer sales on every call no matter how awkward or exploitative all the time is cuz we got written up if we don’t and we lose our jobs. It’s hell. The supervisors and management needs an overhaul. They make everything miserable and if agents are miserable it’ll not be a great experience for customers. Management has quota they expect their team to reach so they get fatter bonuses. They don’t care about their employees either. Hence why everyone is miserable.

    I mean, trying living with 1.5 Mbps speed with two siblings, online class temporarily, we game, upload, and download stuff, over 10 years. Paying over $71 every month, just for this atrocity of speed and service.
    They legit told us that if we wanted faster speeds, we had to connect another cable to the modem to get twice the speeds. Or that they wanted us to buy a useless tv package to get faster speeds.
    What’s funny is that our neighbor who lives behind us, shrouded in trees, and they get about 15 Mbps, yet they are connected to the same damn line and they are not that far from us. This company is just annoying.

      I have only had my internet for a week and it's been off for 3 days going on 4 now. They are stating there is a outage in my area. I'm like for 3 days straight and nobody has fixed it yet what am I paying for. This service has been a complete disappointment, when it was working I was getting like 2.8 mbps but it's slow compared to other companies.

      @@edwardwallace7571 I feel you man. I doubt they repair or look at the "outage" whenever that pops up. I personally never had it happen to me before, but they're most likely wasting time and making you still pay for those days without internet.
      Also, 2.8 mbps. Huge yikes. My current service (new) offers that for like $20 or something. With this service, I got the medium of the packages they offer, which I get speeds at ~70-90 download, but only 2.5 upload. Which isn't bad or good for the uploads I'm getting, but it is lightyears better than what I got with CenturyLink.

    I’m dealing with Century Link for 4th time this month … over a modem return… simply trying to obtain their QR code link or have the send me QR code ??? Impossible… I’ve been completely scammed by them over free cell phone promise that was never honored, gift card scammers been there… discounts for bundling services, upgrade service price for life… they haven’t honored anything… now I can’t get a stupid QR code to return their dead modem 😡 which if not returned they promise to bill me $200 for … this company is nothing but incompetent & criminal

    I think that everyone that has had the dishonor of dealing with century Link can agree that their customer service is complete garbage. It feels like a scam in all honesty. I'm in Colorado and have to deal with their spotty internet all day every day. their cheap modem doesn't even reach halfway across my small house. They told me I would have 20mb high speed interned and what they gave me is barely 12mb slow internet.

      I only receive less than half the Mbps speeds that I'm paying for, I guess we should report them to the FCC and The better business bureau.

      File a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission. I did and got a response and a resolution the next day.

    Dude, I feel your pain. I've been on 10 Mbps for years dealing with constant buffering, because they kept telling me that's all that's available in my area (rural). Lately we did get access to 40 Mbps. It works good like you said, but it was a pain the a** to get it set up. Delay after delay, and dealing with support reps I couldn't understand because they're in a different country. Certainly the WORST customer support I've ever encountered.

      😂😂 I shouldn't have said that. My kid has definitely corrected me, as did several people in the comments. He told me that it was a nightmare for him gaming. As long as Netflix didn't buffer too much I was okay with it. I was kind of a light user. So it seemed fine.

    CenturyLink is the most overrated service in the state of Florida customer service is horrible once you get through the automated system no one speaks any language you can understand and insists upon troubleshooting 3 * when you've already told them the cable is most assuredly cut and to please just send a tech what is so hard to understand useless people and a less than useless service

    I'm dealing with same problem. Poor customer service they don't know there ass from a hole in the ground. They don't know how to treat a customer, so they sure don't know how to serve one. Requested to discontinue internet service but retain basic phone. They send technican to setup internet. Must not be able to read.

    This Video is so appreciated. I will not go through all the BS I've had to deal with. I have been rescheduled 3 times. All I wanted to know was if the actual internet was decent. Thank you!!! The ppl who take your calls are either morons, or trained bull$hiters. The will frustrate you, to where you're hysterical lol. You just have to laugh. My friend told me, "just hang on" lol when you finally get it you'll enjoy it. Not holding my breath!🍻

      Update Jan 11th 2020 after 3 days of no show to install CenturyLink internet, & doing more research on the abhorrent company, I cancelled service lol. I called their number told the operator they show up here now, they will be trespassing. What happened?.....they showed up 15 minutes after I hung up. I took that modem to the USPS paid certified to have to be signed on delivery. I thought, I bet ppl are sending their modems back, and CL is saying they never got it. Sure nuff....3400 ppl were talking about that very thing on a simple G👀gle search. I think it was pissed consumer or something like that. I truly think the company is evil! I will figure out something....but I will NEVER allow CL anywhere near my home!

      My family was just a bit late on the bill. We payed it, and they said it would be 2-3 hours until it would be back up. It’s currently been 5 and a half hours and counting.

    I also, have current horrible customer service issues. The game they play with sending service techs out to install or repair is expensive and I have questions about the legitimacy of their efforts/charges. I intend to ask the FCC to start an investigation regarding these issues.

    I also have to agree with you totally. My experience with Century Link has been terrible, they tell you the service is offered at a certain price and when you get your bill ends up being as much as double from what they tell you. Have to call and disconnect this company and get the hell away from this scam company. It is the worst company after on customer service for their internet service. So, thanks for sharing. Not sure anyone that needs internet would even have this company. But, I'm done with them.

    I tried for 3 days to get a hold of Century link. I waited on hold for about 80 minutes each time. Never did get a hold of them,so when I called the 4th time I pushed sales instead. Guess what 2nd ring but I have a hard time understanding folks in The Philippines. Got a technician over to my house he left saying all was good. It never changed,called and they said wiring was bad from outside my house to inside. They said 300 to fix it showed technician we paid monthly for that. They said they didn't have tools to put a new wire in I went to my shop came back with a shovel. Then he said he couldn't shovel for some medical reason. So he left haven't heard squat. So if you don't want to be put on terminal hold hit sales. I think I'll run the new cable and send them the the bill. Very simple to hook up.

    I have Centurylink and they suck. Took me 2 hrs just to speak to a human, and none of the can speak decent English. I went back to Vietnam in 2019, and they have better internet there than my Centurylink.

    U ain’t lying i’ve been with them 10 years , but after the sold out it has been a nightmare. The language barrier alone is a nightmare they couldn’t even give me my fax number that I’ve had for 10 years. They try to give me a 1866 number and then at one point tried to tell me I didn’t have a fax number even though I can show them the faxes . And you can’t never get a hold of headquarters which is Guatemala , eventually found out! I

    We pay almost 120 dollars a month for 3Mb down and .5Mb up and it’s legit the only service we can get. Our internet is also down half the time anyway.

    My parents are forced to century link dsl . Kinda out skirts of port charlotte fl for 20yrs now. Top speed is 4mbps. It's criminal what they charge. 75+/month for garbage. Only other option is satellite. Which isn't gr8 either. We need a class action lawsuit against century link for scamming their customers

    I just got century link today and i'm sending it back tomorrow. I was suppose to get 60 Mbps and instead got 14 Mbps.. I contacted customer service and was told it was because I did a self install . If I wanted the 60 Mbps I would need to pay $99 for a tech. I have Cox 150 and get 166Mbps. I pay more but switching to Century Link is not an option. I have no Idea how they stay in business.

      They do that - tell you a speed that is unattainable. If you call to quit, they will jack you around non stop. Easiest thing to do, is take your account number & the Modem/Router to a UPS store, they will ship it free & you don't have to argue or take threats from customer service, just hang up on them. They don't speak English anyway.

    I live in southern Missouri and Century Link is just as miserable here. It would probably only take me an hour to watch your 12-minute video. I think I just set a record with my internet service! I started downloading a video on Sunday. After several hours it downloaded. I started uploading the video on Sunday at about 7:00 p.m. Now it is Monday 7:14 p.m. and it just finished uploading. So TWENTY FOUR HOURS to upload one video! I think maybe that is some kind of record.

    I was a Century Link customer for 15 years, because I did not ever need to call Customer Service until 2020. Then it all went wrong and for SIX WEEKS I had no internet service. Call after call to Customer Service and visits from technicians. Zero internet. So I divorced myself from Century Link, went with a local provider who installed service quickly, easily and at HALF of Century Link's price. I'll never go back.

    We would lose internet access at least once a month, the past 3 months it would go out several times and once for more than 15 days. I would go thru the setup, reboot, whatever over and over. They could never fix it and scheduled a tech. Most of the time it would magically be fixed by itself before the tech showed up. But I had enough and pulled it the other day. Garbage , just garbage. Then trying to cancel service was a night mare. I finally cancelled it by claiming that I was moving where they didn't have service.

    I live in grays harbor Washington and we’ve had century link for 10 years+ and the there will almost always be a outage every 3 months and they will usually take 1 full day to 5 days to fix said outage. Last night August 25th the WiFi went out at 10pm. We decided to call in the morning and didn’t get any answers for about 2 hours on the phone. They said it would be fixed by 6:30 pm. We asked to have a discount for every hour it wasn’t fixed off our monthly bill which took another hour to get squared away. It is now 11:06 pm and it is still not working and we have tried restarting the WiFi multiple times. I even searched if there was an outage in my area and it says we do have an outage and suggested to register my email to get notifications for the outage. I registered my email and haven’t gotten any emails so far in the last 4 hours.

      They just told me I won't have internet for the next two weeks and they won't cut my monthly costs in half even tho this means I won't be able to use it for the second half of this month. This was the last straw

    I live in Omaha. I ordered internet. They never told me I'd have to install my own modem from the mail. I'm still waiting for the modem. The 1877 number puts you on an endless loop forever.

      @@theNebrAlien I've concluded a good number of the phone people are in foreign countries and it's staff that aren't given full information with language barriers. They usually just promise people whatever they need to make it sound like the call went well to probably phone auditors without any knowledge how to do any of the things promised.its sketchy that that's what's going on

    My parents have centrylink and it's the worst internet service I've ever seen. I have xfinity at home and have had no issues. EVERY time I come visit it either A. doesn't work at all B. says I'm connected, but doesn't work, or C. I have to restart/reset the router to get it to run, and it's still slow. Customer service is awful. Like zero help, ignore you awful. Stay away from these people. I have the highest speed xfinity offers and it costs me just a bit more than what they pay for this trash.

    Im not getting century link anymore. Im looking for internet provider atm but hearing your story just irritates me. I had a lot of issues with cox internet and they always answered my phone call and helped me out and have a technician come in the next morning.

    I called them last week and requested internet service. The following week I get this hideous modem delivered by UPS and I follow the instructions. No signal. I call Century link and ask them had the technician been to my location yet and they told me no. 15 minutes later I get a call from a technician telling me that he is unable to install the service because of some sort of technical error . WTF!!!
    If I don’t get my money back in 10 days I’m opening up a nice FAT lawsuit

    they did the same with my mom, she isnt very tech savy and they hype her up on this "Fibe Line" but in reality they just gave her DSL 25mbs for 50$

    See my problem is the customer service like you mentioned and stability. At least you get emails about your bill. They don't send me a paper bill or an electronic. They just expect me to check the app that barely works I guess. But my biggest problem is the stability. Even on a hardline the connection drops for 5 seconds like once an hour. That's just enough to restart Hulu and lag out of games. Then you call them and complain about it they say there is nothing they can do. 🤦‍♂️

    I'm having a very challenging time closing my CenturyLink account. I really dislike it when companies make it hard to close your account. It feels like a scam to me. It was also difficult to close my Sirius satellite radio and my CaptialOne checking account. Those companies try to make it difficult for you to close the account because they're afraid to lose you.

      This is an issue with WIFI in general, not CenturuyLink. Don't use wifi, hard wire your computers and devices

    Thank goodness i didnt sign with them, im in oregon. Every time i call, they say, system down or you cant get it at your location but yet i have 3 neighbors that have it. Lol. The customer service sucks the worst. High prices. Over $25 higher per month than hunter. Hate hate hate

    i live n a very closed off area, nd century link is all i can get. i shit yu not for 4 days ive had an avg latency of 800ms, nd a .10 download nd .03 upload speed

    When you had CenturyLink back then, did the internet ever go out randomly during the night? I used to experience this while gaming and sometimes streaming Netflix and Hulu.

      Not that I noticed, but I'm never really up too late. There would be times it would lag for about an hour 9r so during the evening. I remember "resetting" the modem quit a bit.

    They've changed their name to Brightspeed and they still suck. And not just the customer service. In my area they are the only option and not cheap! Internet extremely slow. Cannot work over the internet at my house.

    It is OK if you have at least 30-45 min on hold prior to even speaking to someone! Then maybe they tell you you need to speak to someone else. Another hold.... AWFUL

    Rural Minnesota here, we have centurylink and they are the worst. We have constant outages and we pay for 50mb internet and only get roughly 8mb our upload is less than 1mb. Isn't that wonderful?

    This internet is super bad. I play fighting games online and live in obx nc and the two isp are charter and centurylink. It is completely unplayable on centurylink and feels totally fine on charter. Our plan is 10 mbps down but it isn't ever that high. when I'm using a wired connection it's 5 mbps at the highest. I checked the basic plan for charter and they have a plan that is only a few dollars more expensive but advertise 50 mbps down.

    2023, they still have the worst the worst "customer service" ever. Especially if you are a single woman, if you are, good luck trying to get anyone to listen to your complaints, not answering or getting upset with you, pushing the problem back on you and blaming you for "your computer" issues and/or telling you, the woman, that you have no idea how computers and internet works. I have an IT friend who looked into my internet speed severe drop in speed, 100-120+ drop and also other things, and he told me that my service was horrible ad some of the things CL is doing, would be considered illegal. Centurylink rep i talked to the next day told me "well, your speeds are fine "now", so you dont have any issues "now"...and that everything my IT friend did, speed test and etc, was invalid cause 1) hes not employed by CL and 2) my computer was not hard wired into the modem. Doesn't matter if my computer isn't hard wired into the modem, i should not have 100+ drop in speed at any time and yes, i do trust my IT friend over any company that only cares that i pay them every month and cares less that i am getting what i paid for. I have tried and tried to talk about my connection issues with so many CL people, nothing but blaming me for me not having the 140mbps i pay for every month, they talk over me, the last guy was yelling at me and telling me i didn't know anything about computers and that my IT friend was a hack. They can treat their customers horribly because they can, there is no other competition available to me, except the 5G from T mobile, who knows if that's any better or starlink, which is too expensive. Centurylink is a ride from hell, no truer words have been spoken..

    Centurylink sucks. A tip: always ask and write down the persons ID number for your documentation. I have been battling them for over a year. I truly wish there was another service available to me. They have the WORST customer service.

    I was gonna get centurylink because of affordability but I mainly needed it for gaming but I kept hearing it was terrible for gaming if you were to download big games and this video further steered me a different direction I'm just gonna get frontier communications because xfinity kept having issues with me and they cut us off for no reason and then xfinity said that the problem was that the modem was fine but that the modem warranty was expired and that because of that that we had to pay 80 dollars for a new modem and I couldn't understand why they kept telling me we know that sounds weird but that this was normal even the xfinity store said the same thing customer service

    I told them that I charge $98/hour to go reconnect my line at the box in the alley that was laying across the driving area….that the city I live in has a buried line ordinance and I’m sick of paying for internet that never works…and the neighbor who owns the land the box sits on made her alley area look pretty and ripped the damned lines out of the box and taped it close…three times that happened before they finally buried the cables to my lot lol…they quit with the whole charging me bs

    Dude you fucking right jajajajajaja I work for century link ! I’m in the sales department! And I’m not even in the us! I’m in Guatemala 😂😂 but the thing is that everybody complains about the hold time they deal with when they call Clink! And the times they are transferred! If it was not for those two things! I think people would be happier with the service

    Im in nc and have centuryLink and it sucks ass out here i get like 5 to 10 mbps and it also makes me mad as well because the modems break if you barely tap them
