Jerry Goldsmith is one of my soundtrack gods. The composer has to convey mood, the soul, spirit, the essence of the film---and television show, for that matter (Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Barnaby Jones etc.). He did so, masterfully, throughout his great career.
great memories from 68 when life was much less complicated, and the films were so ,,,well not so far fetched as the current stuff,,,and the music was just so good it still sounds great,
Thanks so much for this audio collage from the cinematic musical master Jerry Goldsmith. Brings back vivid memories of this Western, which was an epic in every way that you would hope a film with James Stewart and Dean Martin as feuding brothers would be.
I saw this when it first came out. I would been around 7 going on 8. Its the very first film where the music stayed with me after the closing credits, and I whistled that theme for literally years afterward. I never heard it again until it cropped up on TV must have been ten years later, and I was amazed I had remembered it note for note.
A moment ago I was telling CinemaSound ... I have no words to Miklós .... And now I tell you the same thing .... I have no words to Goldsmith ..... Great composers .... .. GREAT VIDEO! ... A big hug!!
They filmed this at the John Wayne's Alamo Village, just north of Brackettville, TX. Val Verde were the San Antonio sets. Never go and see a film set. It blows big holes in the "suspension of disbelief." The bars of the jail are wooden slats, and the whole place is built to about 7/8 scale...
It was recorded by Hugo Montenegro, His Orchestra and Chorus with lyrics as "There's Got To Be A Better Way" and was on the B-side of their hit single cover "The Good The Bad and the Ugly".
Yes you're right, Jerry Goldsmith wrote the Theme of this, but Hugo did most of the rest - just how much not known, we all loved doing this score. Carol Kaye
2:47 I got out of the army in '75 and I was totally f..kd up by my Vietnam experience. To escape my bad memories, I fled to Mexico just to forget. Sometimes, I would take hikes with some Mexican companions. God, Mexico is a big country. We would hike for hours and hours to fall down exhausted and famished in a little village. I would eat a couple of tacos and chug a Cidral and then stumble into the little hotel there, pay my stay, go up to my room and fall asleep two minutes later.
Das Showdown wurde in John Waynes Alamo Replica in Brackettville gefilmt -"The Second Battle of the Alamo". Wie auch immer. Ein Superwestern mit einer fantastischen Filmmusik.
Classic American Heritage in the face of evil. Tales with a story line where the good overcomes the evil. What have we let happen to our culture, where evil is praised and good is called hate. May GOD BLESS AMERICA again, soon.
I just want to express my deep appreciation for what you have done with soundtracks that I hold precious. I was chagrined you did not do "Valdez is Coming" and another gem is "Sword of Lancelot" and Disney's "The Black Arrow." I have a tough job and just have to thank you because while I work I listen to your compilations. Some of these soundtracks represent a better age when we as a people had ideals, while not perfect, still represented a time when we were better led and inspired. By the way, listen to the old "300 Spartan" from the 1962 Richard Egan movie. My hat is off to you and I look forward to listening to more. Please keep up your work. John K
So sad to learn that we lost Raquel yesterday. Rest in peace beautiful lady.
I'll be whistling this soundtrack for the rest of the day, much to the annoyance of my wife.🤩RIP Lovely lady !
Man, how I still love this cowboy tune ! and the sweet lady Raquel. of course.
Eines meiner besten Filme 🎥 in der Zeit wo ich noch im Vorführraum unseren Kinos stand... 👍
Grüße an alle Filmfreunde.

Jerry Goldsmith and Ennio Morricone the best western movie soundtrack composers ever.
Of that there can be no doubt!
A 60's classic western, with the late great Raquel Welsh.
Great ?? HOT yes !
I will admit, I haven't seen all off Dean Martins movies, but off the ones I have seen, this is by far the best.
"Don't get too cocky, sheriff...it's a long way to the border!" - Will Geer / my favorite line in the movie.

Thanks
Gracias.
Mace: Our father worked the land from sunrise to sunset. Dee: Yeah, and he never saw as much as a ten dollar gold piece in his whole life!
Wish you could do Soldat Von Orange and Disney's the Black Arrow. Very nice soundtracks, really appreciate the work you do.
It's a tough world. - Mace Bishop (Jimmy Stewart).

You tube can you post the whole Bandolero movie

Not the best ending but great anyway
It is "Bandolero!" with an exclamation mark.
Tell me about other movies with an exclamation mark, I dare you, LOL
Dire Straits Les boys, very similar beginning of the melody.
