Yep, right about east coast city too..
They are not "suppressing russian assault", they are doing "prostrel" as we heard in the video. It actually means to "shoot in general direction of the enemy, hoping to hit someone", and it not necessarily shooted at the confirmed target.
@@kubie6798 They aren't going for accuracy they just want to scare anyone in that general direction shitless of going near them
All they are doing is giving away their position so Russian artillery can zero in on them. That is how the Russians are inflicting mass casualties no one on one fighting it’s all artillery.
@kubie6798 no its dumb. All though satellites exist an drones woth cameras. All they did was give away there postion an let russia know where to send a missile an artsy round or 2
It caused a distraction and made the UA assaulting force seem much larger. Quick way to slow an advance. They bounced right after firing their allotment to avoid potential incoming IDF.
I heard the video talk about a Kestrel, I've never heard the word 'prostrel' before.
trick for the tripod is to use a bandoleer or some type of soft material under the foot to prevent digging in. It will settle eventually but wont dip nearly has bad. Plus makes adjusting the TandE more accurate.

thanks for the explenation. i was confused why the took 400 shots and left
But the gun was removed and they probably watched them do so with a drone so I don't think you are right about that one, you'd be 100%right talking about any other conflict in our past though buy the rules have changed an this tactic is worthless nowadays

@@devinquackenbush660 exactly. they did fuck all
@@devinquackenbush660 Their mission was to suppress the tree line. If you've ever been on the other end of a .50 cal, just hearing those rounds coming near you is enough to nope the f*ck out. They probably did drone to see if they left, but they still accomplished their main mission. It's a war of attrition now so these types of missions are standard.
It honestly looks like someone took a GoPro back to 1917, except for the modern weapons and uniforms.
War never changes.
The machine gun is an M2 browning, I think, which was designed in 1918 *for* WW1 (though it didn’t see service until WW2). Honestly it’s kind of trippy, seeing it used in basically the war it was designed for, over 100 years later.

How to survive war from civ div:
-be short

-leave when it gets tough
They did literally nothing in this video, everything they supposedly did was off camera. There was only one box of spent ammo, so they came to this trench, where guys wete standing on the top of it. obviously were under no sense of threat. Then they fired on box of rounds off camera at some trees , and them they left. Video said near bahkmut, but that city fell a while back, maybe it was near Chasiv Yar but probably wasnt even near an active front line.
honestly seeing radios with proper antennas being used is a refreshing sight because that tells me that someone realized the tiny rubber duck antennas are garbage
The "garbage" antennas work for high frequencies. The higher the frequency, the shorter the antenna (there is no point having an antenna longer than the radio wave length). Analog portable radios are generally low frequency as it has better penetration through foliage and obstacles, digital radios generally work in the higher spectrum since higher frequencies allow for more data/sec.
@@FedericoLucchias someone who knows little very about radio technology, I appreciate this explanation. I never once intuitively thought about how the wavelength of the radiowave impacted how large the antenna should be. And I never thought about how the antenna LITERALLY captures the radio waves like a net, so the length of the physical antenna correlates with the wavelength. Like how you can’t catch sardines in a fish net made for tuna.

Drones have made this war extremely scary and lethal for men in the trenches. No longer does the enemy need to be only meters away to frag you.
Never thought id see a product placement ad on a live war video
Are the Russians using Snipers? You all are walking out in the open like theres no enemies.
I think it might be because of the fact they are at least over 800 meters away and Russians are on short supply of sniper rifles. Even for a sniper rifle, 800 meters and over is not an easy shot. By the way, this is just a guess as I have not done research on this. Hope this helps.🙂
Snipers are rarer than you think
Depends on what units are up against them, some may have really skilled marksmen that could reach this far. This war has shown that you're not safe from a distance, as currently the longest distance sniper kill stands at 2.3 miles (roughly 3800m). All comes to down to who they are up against.

Notice what M20 API-T ammo looks like as well. Red tip with a ring of aluminum paint. Pretty distinctive and easy to spot.
Why they're firing API, though, at a tree line is another story, lol.

love that GWOT grey gear!
Tripod digging itself in always sucks a medium filled sandbag under the front leg let’s the leg dig itself in but not dig into the ground
6:19-6:22 does the Ma Deuce speed up sometimes when you hold down the trigger for longer bursts? Sounds like the rate of fire speeds up and then slows down randomly.
Best ive gathered, it has to do with the gun being a long recoil operation, because the mechanism is locked breech but operating directly on the recoil the differences in powder charge from cartridge to cartridge can make a small, but noticeable difference in cyclic rate. the same effect theoretically applies with all guns but piston operation and the dramatically reduced pressures involved make the difference imperceptible
Normal for guns with garbage design.
@@powerhouse1981 Insane how a "gun with garbage design" has been used for 116 years, but you know better right?

Its a 21st century war involving 19th century tactics. Both sides lack the required resources and training to make a true dent creating nonstop meat grinding. Such a sad conflict and I hope it ends soon for the sake of the men on both sides and to end the needless suffering of civilians.
I helped train Ukrainians back in 2019 before the invasion, and I hope they are doing well, but after several years of fighting, I try not to think to much about it.
First it's 21 century war with electronic warfare, a lot of drones and what you think Russia lacks in sophistication, has in Quantity. Russia produces 3 mil artillery shells per year and more surface vehicles than USA. You think USA or Germany would do much better with the same resources but 'better training'? USA didn't fight an equal-ish since WW2, iraq and afghanistan are childs play in comparison and it lost the Vietnam war.
Wtf are you on about? They didn't mention, US you bot.
@@rungfang27 Don't be such a daft. We all know who trained the Ukrainians here.
It’s absolutely bizarre that the Russians adopted second gen warfare tactics. I used to think that they were professional and reasonably well trained. It’s as if Putin doesn’t want to win but can’t withdraw because he’d lose face.
@@DanielNistreanwhich is funny because last I checked Russia is getting dud artillery shells from China since they can’t make enough. Same with their “wonder weapons” like the Armada and SU-57, they’re dogshit in reality and they don’t have the industry to actually produce them, especially after trade has been ceased to them. interesting old tactic with machine guns, if you have an arty boi with you. That hmg can shoot into the trenches. Not at but into, because with the right range and angle you can arc the rounds into the enemy trenchs/positions. lose a lot of power, but can and injure and kill. And if done right, can be an excellent terror weapon. Since now a perceived safety is lost, forcing manpower for extra reinforcement or forcing reposition into better fortified locations. But requires someone with good ballistic knowledge, accurate terrain and distance information, and also you really need to know what you are shooting.

You can see why this war hit such a massive standstill along much of the front. Two raised positions in visible range but out of effective range, with very little cover between them. Tanks can’t advance because of easily accessible anti-tank missiles for infantry and long sightlines, while infantry can’t advance because it’s too open without armoured support. Whoever runs out of tanks or anti-tank missiles first loses
