Had this same bike new in 1968. Was cheap delivered from Sears. Maybe a little over $200. Could coax it to 70 mph when new. I lived in farm country with plowed fields and lots of dust. The intake was designed with no air filter. Keeping the oil clean was a problem. Very frequent oil changes. The rings quickly wore out and power dropped. It wasn't long that top speed dropped to 60 mph or so.
This is a 4 cycle 1 cylinder pushrod overhead valve. They make about 12 horsepower which is not bad for a lightweight 125cc. Since it is a four stroke you do not put oil in the gas. I would use 20w/50 oil in engine. I believe engine uses a common oil supply with the transmission.
I had one of those when I was young it was really powerful and it handled good for the day I've got another one right now but I need a complete set of rims Spokes and hubs
Ronald Daub Hey Ronald I just got one of these from my neighbor original owner. Bike is clean and stock owners manual and title key waiting for you. Feel free to call me John at 949-678-6439 Costa Mesa California. Owner wants to Go to a good home
@MrSamlouk very nice. Just make sure that the tank and carbs are clean and probably change the oil too. Then put premium gas in it, choke it cold and it should fire right up. do you have the owners manual for the bike? I can e-mail it to you if you need it.
Hard off road riding (jumping) at FLA Crooms Natl. Forest, ruined the bendable frame tubes Road riding would have never done this.... Ours started out as a SEARS 106 But I found a used 124 cyl., piston and head at Lovengreens, for $15... Where I was a parts stripper Gave it about 10 more mph on I-4/I-75 65 to 70 from55-60 It got me to work for winter of '69-70... I made an AL handlebar fairing With a snap on helmet face shield for a wind shield... 40s FLA weather J.C.
Do you still have the manual for this by chance? and could you send it to me if you do? I just got one of these in an auction and am excited to work on it as a first project
hey, ive just inherited a gilera 124 from my grandad. i was just wondering if there is anything i should know when starting it as i have never ridden a bike this old before. i noticed you pressed a lever or button before kickstarting it.
Im guessing its a sidevalve? It dont sound like a 2 stroke, and the head is too small up top for overhead valves. the sound reminds me of an old Briggs and Stratton

Ya I put a foam air filter over the velocity stack
Parts can be tricky to find for this bike. I got some from the website Domiracer and then others from e-bay. Good luck!
My first motorcycle. Bought it used from my uncle. Topped out around 60 mph. 16 years old and rode it everywhere. Sold it for $75.

Yes it's a common oil supply and there is oil pump on the right hand side bottom

Just picked up one identical to this and was wondering where the oil goes, never worked on a bike this old before.

They are really capable smothe running bikes.
I had one in the early eighties, wore it completely out.
Beautiful!
Just great!!
Could you tell me where to find parts? I have one that is 80% complete. Thanks.
xj5523 I have one all it needs is a set of rings and the rims are Rusty
I would like to find a set of rims for the one I have complete with hubs if possible
does anyone know the chain pitch, 420, or 428
What's the part number on the battery?
Does anyone know what engine case oil this bike requires? Also, does it take straight gas or a mixture?
Thanks.

It's a four stroke engine....

We 40W in our Sears 106
Florida weather...
It's a 4-stroke it takes 4 stroke oil like a car
Dude seriously???
Im guessing its a sidevalve? It dont sound like a 2 stroke, and the head is too small up top for overhead valves.
the sound reminds me of an old Briggs and Stratton
Pushrod overhead valve. Much more advanced than a "flathead" lawn mower. A 125cc Briggs side valve makes about 3-1/2hp. This 125 Gilera make 12hp
Anthony Ballmann it's overhead valve rocker arm engine camshaft in bottom
Briggs & Stratton sound good with if properly straight piped these engines sound good
Don't forget the almost identical 106 Sears that was a 4-speed basically the same head and cylinder
La mia prima moto!!! L'adoravo!!!
They weren't known to be Quiet! Clater,Rattle,Bang, and click of valve tappets!
Manual is sent!
I have one just like this
i have this kind of bike 124cc & 110 cc
nah i dont if you could that would be brilliant
