You'll get more skill points (also called hero points) by leveling, but also doing the hero point events in maps. Some of them are combats, some just activating the point.

@@MMOMainFrame If you want to focus on leveling up I'll recommend looking at the character adventuring guide achievement group. Achievements are found on your Hero panel and that group contains achievements that direct you to exploring different maps and gives you a lot of XP especially when you finish one set of achievements
Looks like you have some free stuff to pick up from the Gem Store (based on the gift icon you have on it). In terms of cosmetics, there's different things that you can do. What you've got on (the black and white cool thing) is an outfit, but you can also transmute any piece of actual gear you have through the Hero panel > Equipment tab > Wardrobe. That's what you're mostly seeing from other players. Some of them are wearing back pieces, which can also be transmuted. You can also dye things. You should look into the Dragon stance (it's one of the things you can use as a Rev, like the Dwarf and Assassin that you have on your character right now). It uses things called Facets, and one of them gives you constant move speed buff :) Something to consider when you've got more points to spend.
@@MMOMainFrame Nope, but it's unfortunately part of an Elite Specialization called Herald. Sorry, I completely blanked on that and thought it was part of core Revenant!
